Can you please explain to me how your temps can be so low at 4,2 ghz oc?
(I'm a noob at this stuff :) )
Awesome results anyways!
he lives in the arctic maybe =P
but seriously how did you do it?
Very nice
This was the best SuperPi 1MB benchable I can do with my Q6600 G0:

What is your best SuperPi 1MB benchable speed?
1.163 vcore... wow
@Pedro Rocha your cpu good clock:)
very nice clock man, especially for air... im jealous :)
Thanx you all.
ambient temps?
Nice for air but... I thought most G0's with a decent MB can do 4.2GHz?
That's very near what mine does on stock Intel cooler. With TT120/Zalman 9700, there's no way I can run more than 3.6GHz stable 24/7 though, temps/voltage are ridiculously higher
it's amazing what great coolers there are out there, cold weather aside, the new pipe setup's and great use of lapping, copper and fins are making air cooling much more efficient and viable.
Sweet numbers, got to love that q6600 Go and in the right hands it just sings. Great job!
Over 4ghz on AIR
The only way those temps are possible on air is if you live in the Arctic as someone stated. Seems you didn't answer the questions of how? What was the ambient temp for this overclock? Also what were your Timings and Voltages? Thanks
could i see memory timings on these by any chance? cuz i'm a whole .5 seconds slower at 4.1ghz on my q6600!
note i've disabled my other 3 cores for this run

Impressive, which I have is b3 and I it take the maximum to 3851 oc, but for the bench down to the 3712 everything with cooler stock and with temperature environment of 5 degrees With Air conditioning
Bench NucleaRus Multi Core

This achieved our team, all on air,1.75v for cpu...

http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=319772
dear jesus... very nice!!! what kind of ambient temps are going on around you.. 1.75 is scary territory to venture into
Temp for super pi was about 76°C...That was with cold air,on window..Ambient was about 2°C and that was hot...This week is another season, but with DFI x38 and only 1 core...
That wasnt max, because he (Razer) have to go home and didnt have more time to test it... That cpu is mine,so we'll see how much will it go... Only barrier is our ambient temperature, all depends on how much will it be cold :D
For 3d mark it is stable with 4200@ 1.6v
And that 1.75 is bios set,so little down
EXpander - show us some PI 1M !!
Great OC youv'e got there
nice results
L737B@4.4Ghz on cold water

4.35Ghz 3D stable
http://img141.imageshack.us/img141/9804/3dmarkss9.jpg
That's before I figured out teh OCP mod for 8800GT, I could redo it with 900Mhz core easily but I don't OC anymore.

You wont achieved much more with that mbo... <450 FSB is good, but everything behind that is a hall...Max I achieved stable is 440MHz FSB
Mofo fsb max 600+
whats ambient or i call bull:banana::banana::banana::banana::banana:
nice Overclock
either he lives in the arctic circle or thats is xtreme bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:
4 GHZ on stock cooling, come on
really nice q6600 you have there... LOL i could get those clocks too .. but with a 2 stage cascade.. F**kn fsb wall :D
My Max is 4644.4Mhz on Water with 1.8v on 4 Cores:D

No Team.......
That´s nice :D
Quit posting bull.
You do not have to sit outside in -degrees (Celsius) to boot/post a CPU-Z screenie.
24/7 *full quadcores loaded* volts&clocks at stock or "high-end" cooling (air/water) is a totally other "planet".
It is not what the threadstarter is showing us here.
It is "only" a "fairly decent" G0, at most. Not "The Golden Chip".
To get that rating he has to show a proven max."stable" clock using OCCT or Prime95 run.
Which probably will be well below 4.0Ghz.
On Intel stock, probably below 3.6Ghz.
:)
is there anywere some review or article about thit Cooler???
could he be in Single core mode?
aye, i can run my g0 6600 at a wide range of speeds upto 4.5ghz on my phase cooling, fine for hours in desktop and for a few pi runs. However run seti on full tilt all all 4 cores and it can crash within a few seconds!
Respect! Very nice oc with air cooling!!
I had my Q6600 (G0) at 3,6GHz for a short time. Vcore set to 1.36 Volt.
But I had some problems at first with ocing with my Gigabyte X-38 DS4, that's why I'm a bit careful with ocing more. I wanted to have over 15k points at
3D M 06.But I didn't reach it...I made 14.928 points wich was kind of disappointing... :(
So you can OC the q6600 better on the p35's?
Nice job btw! WOW... stock cooler run is sick o_O
I dont know why you ask why he's temps are so low.
My frieds Q6600 with Zalman 9700 NT @ 3.6Ghz is running at 23ºC [ambient 21ºC]....
Its all got to do with how you apply thermal paste, and if the cooler properly hugs the Chip
Yikes !!
Quote:
There's no way he's running at 23c idle with 21c ambient. Not at 3.6ghz. (1.30v+) Sorry. He's either full of it or not receiving proper readings.
Also, as for the original pic... Look at the temp. reading on his HDD lol. It's probably like 10c in that room.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------
Vcore at 1.375, i didnt believe it either, especially because he said that at stock clock it was at 16ēC wich is Impossible IMO.
He was using a Asus P5E3 DX inside a 3T Xtrem Engine case (250mm fan on side, 2x 3000RPM 80mm on rear and one 120 case fan on front)
Tough i think its bull, cuz my E6300 @ 3.39Ghz with an AC unit next to it only manages to get as low as 24ēC (with TR2 Cooler)
But my P5E3 DX and Q6600 kit is ordered, lets see how i fare with the very same cooler ¨+ ac unit
Also he had his CPU at 28ēC @ stock speed with the Intel Stock, os i guess the readings are right (but since the guy is afraid to "KILL" his CPU, he wont let me run Prime for 10 min to see where the temps get to :P )
lets see a full bench like a 3Dmark on your q6600 with the stockcooler
hmmmmmmmmmmm 4ghz stock cooler ....
2 good be true?
maybe in - ambients
i call bulls**t. Even if you lived in the artic you couldnt do it with the stock cooler.
whats the load temp on prime???
it's pretty easy to figure out fellas.
before I take this apart, I'd like to say nice work Expander. you've done quite a bit of playing around and exploring. but you really need to fine tune a stable oc that can handle a 100% load for an extended period, then you'll have a very nice setup for folding or playing some long hour gaming...
************
the ss pictures tell the story guys. pay attention to the details. idle temps and vcore variances at core speed.
first ss: (suicide run, idle, low ambient)
screen capture run at 4.2ghz 1.66v, no benches posted... hd temp is 18c which indicates a low ambient.. cpu temp is 31c, low ambient / idle temps..
second ss: (suicide run, idle, normal ambient)
screen capture run at 4ghz 1.55v, no benches posted. stock intel cooler. hd temp is 30c, which indicates a normal ambient. cpu temps are 54c at idle, which sounds about right for an idle 4ghz Q6600 on a stock cooler in a normal ambient.
third ss: (1M pi run, this actually looks about right for a Q6600 G0, no temps posted)
1M pi run at 3.8ghz 1.56v. no temps posted. this run actually holds the most notability for me.. it's running at 3.8ghz@1.56v, which is slightly more vcore than the previous ss 4ghz@1.55v with no benches, because it was just a boot and capture at idle..
plus a 3.8ghz Q6600 @ 1.56v is completely normal for a G0. all 3 of my G0's do 3.6 @ 1.5v, but I leave them folding 24/7 months on end, so I'm more comfortable with 380x9*3420mhz@1.4-.142v, under 60c... (peace of mind)...
****************
Expander, like I said you've got some nice work going there. but the only real one worth posting is the 3.8ghz 1m pi run. the others are just suicide type idle runs. which I know is a blast to post pics of, but you can't really do anything with the power except do a screenshot and watch it idle...
the 1M run is good too, but 15 sec of pi doesn't really say too much for stability. you really need a good 100% stress before saying "check it out guys"...
put it on OCCT overnight and see if it'll pass.. http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download
then fine tune it until it can...
once you can do that, you'll have a nice stable sys that can perform like the workhorse it is.
Mine is exactly like his, even the max MHz, and the temps are high even at stock load, temps for the Q6600 G0s are well known. Needs 1.4v for 3.843GHz Linpack/TAT stable at 20C ambients but temps are way too high to run that and by that I mean, 1.38v 3.7GHz breaks 83C with TAT at 20C ambient, so I back down and run 3.6G 1.36v which does me perfectly fine. I was using a TRUE before but moved to Xig, it does better with the setup above 3.5GHz.
^ Mike is right.
really nice clock for air , quad core and 65 nm
