Running high Vcore w/ high FSB on a NF7-S

Guys, I hope you know this one.. here's the problem:

My NF7-S will not boot with high Vcore + high FSB. I think I saw someone post this before, but I can't find it anymore. The Vio mod was the thing to do (I think)..so I did..

The Vio mod gives me more Vddr and stable too..but no high fsb. What happens is this:

I run 11x233 2.15V. It boots to the desktop and then craps out due to low Vcore. I raise the Vcore to 2.2 (there is nothing in between 2.15 and 2.2) and reboot.. The system hangs at the XP screen with the little bar going...and it stays there. The bar keeps going for ages and it never boots..

Tried the following:
Vio mod (had it @ 3.50)
Vdd (board can do 237 unmodded)
12V mod
Heatsinks on the mosfets + fan

Now 11,5 x 223 boots and I'm writing this at that speed. So in short:
11 x 233 (2563MHz) 2.2V no boot
11,5 x 223 (2568MHz) 2.2 boot
10 x 237 boot

Any ideas? I'm all out.. tnx guys.

2.2 is a hell of a lot of voltage

Sorry, thats watercooled. 2.2V is quite a bit of voltage yes.. But the cpu is ok with it.

Now those settings are ok.. Also..high fsb + lower MP is ok.. Combine them..no boot.

11 x 232 works btw..

Vddr is a bit high there.. I don't use that all the time :D It can do those settings @ 3.00V as well.. This was for testing..

If say 2.3V makes it stable.. I'll use it.. I never keep hardware that long and it never runs on high voltage for long. This is only for benching.

Oh btw.. a guy from another forum has the same problem..

vio???? what do you mean with vio voltage?

high fsb+high multi is probably he prob here... you need more vdd id say

If you want to run both really high Vcore and high FSB you need to disable APIC. No good for 3dmark though, since you will loose lots of points in car low and also a few in some of the other tests. I got APIC disabled all the time except when I bench 3dm.

LOL..read my post again.. You will see it 3V for yhe memory..

I'll try that APIC.. You mean the bios setting right? Set it to disabled..

I tried raising the Vdd voltage..but is does nothing. Tried up to 2V but no luck.

I don't understand this board.. It's does 237 1.74Vdd but 240 is impossible. Even when pumping 3.25V through the memory... Maybe the mem just won't do 240. I had some Twinmos BH-5 here the other day..also no luck with that.. :confused: (Was better ram though, did the same but with less voltage)

Look at the Vcore.. it is 2.18 and that is idle. Under load it drops to 2.12/2.13V and this is 2.22V is bios.. :rolleyes:

you mean you raised the 3.3v rail? thats not vio afaik, vio is basically the same as vdd... its both chipset voltage.

you changed the vdd from 1.74 to 2v and it doesnt give you a single mhz in fsb speeds? how are you cooling the northbridge?
if the cooling is ok then your vdd mod is probably not working, i never heard that a jump from 1.75v to 2v on vdd didnt change anything at all...

it cant be the memory since you can boot at 10x237...

I can do 13x223 at 2,06V in bios 18. Superpi, Pifast, 3DMark (see sig)... But 2,1V+ does not stabilize my proc more, I am at 240x11,5 and cpu's not fully stable. At those and higher volts I get reboots. Prom keeps being shut down after some reboots under full load. Then havta wait 2-3mins for prom recovery :rolleyes:

I am really stressed with that nf2 prob.

P.S. I cannot boot at 11x240 BUT at 11,5x240 :eek:

Is ram divider 3/3 the most stable one for ya?

Was not sure but thought it was for me too :confused: Trying 4/4 and 5/5 though.

with bios 10 3/3 is the most stable for me, with 14 for example 6/6 is better, but bios 14 is worse than 10

Thats right.. Vdd does not help a bit. It stabilizes yes, but no Mhz gain..nothing. The NB is cooled by an N waterblock cnc machined. Also..the chipset is lapped. Contact is good since the block sucks onto the chipset when I install it.

When at 240 it reboots instantly. Sometimes I can run Sandra. The way everything went I thought I was gonna hit 250..but then there is that wall..aargghh..

I measue the Vdd on the little solder dot on the board.. The measure point as indicated on motherboardfaqs. It's working..

Edit:

Hmm.. I tried ramdiv 6/6 and auto..(no difference btw) Maybe I should focus on that on my next try.

I've read some posts that Vio is the same as Vdd. I thought there was a slight difference.

Vio is the voltage that is given to all the components that need 3.3V on the motherboard such as mem, vga and chipset. Increasing Vio gives more stability.

Vdd is only the voltage on the chipset which can be altered in the bios or with a VR. Increasing Vdd causes to drop Vddr a little bit (didn't measure Vagp), but with more Vdd I can get higher fsb's.

My Vio given by my PSU (Enermax EG465AX-VE) is allready 3.5V, but without the Vdd mod I wasn't able to run the fsb's I'm running now. (239 with a s*cking bios from ASUS)

I already installed win2k without APIC but have it enabled in bios. It doesn't change anything then disabling it in bios too, does it?

But I can see it even when booting win2kpro: if the blue loading bar on boot screen beginning in the middle (50% data load) it's okay then with vcore and vdd, otherwise starting at 0% means a problem IMO.

bios 10 often bluescreens on me at same settings before getting to this boot screen :( I also cannot use more multis than before...

The one strange thing i get trying too boot @ FSB> 227....
It just boots, shows the windows 2k screen, but as soon as the desktop blue screen with the bar in the middle (is this called the splashscreen?) appears, i get a BSOD. :mad:
I just turn the system off and after 2 seconds on again and...voila...Windows loads no problem...

Strange behaviour...anyone knows what's causing this?

@Fewture, i think it's the same thing your system does, but your system reboots instead of giving a BSOD. :confused:

ah with a barton L12 mod isn't needed because barton are at 166mhz
sorry but from your sign i have seen a 2100+

try with the agp bus at 80mhz, sometimes it give more stability
