2x2GB DDR2-800 HP2 Series CL5-4-4-12 @ 1.8V

wish it was 4-4-4-12 @ 1.8V but still awesome. Hopefully it will be cheap like the 5-5-5-15 kits priced around 50-70 bucks for a 4GB kit

ahh ya, bringing back the Redlines! Something tells me the Redlines aren't going to be cheap, but hopefully will be real good.

Man, its a shame how poor the ram industry is doing right now (just look at ddr2 prices now compared to a year ago right after conroe), though we might as well capitilize off of it while we can

So what exactly IS the difference between the XP and the Redline? By the numbers, there's really no difference. Same heatsink design. Different IC's?

the redlines are hand picked afaik. they will be able to OC very nicely too. imagine 1200+mhz with 2x2GB ram :)

Still weird that the Redlines are rated for a lower speed with the same timings and voltage than the XP2...

Does Mushkin still use really flimsy heatsinks?

That would have to be it, I guess. So far, I'm pretty sure the XP's and Redline's have used the same IC's.

My EM's have fairly solid heatsinks. Nothing elaborate, but the metal is definitely in no danger of bending by accident.

Ahh well the sticks I used to have had a clip which prevented that kind of misadventure.

Muskin Redlines were some of the best ram I have ever bought! Would not hesitate to recommend Mushkin to anyone:)

this looks like high bun powerchips with the 2.1V, are we ever going to see the good mushkin 4gb kits with the supper high bun micron revE with 2.3V come back

What took soo long? G.Skill and Geil had been the only deal in town for months now.

I found the Redline Heatsinks to be very good myself actually:)

look http://www.mushkin.com/doc/products/...ail.asp?id=556 its the best 2x2GB out but u will never find it since micron isnt binning high enough with their asian FAB (were they moved their non buffered ddr2 dimm production). the SJ fab is not gtr and FB only so the D9 revD and revE high density is lacking in supply of high bins

ive gotten that explanation for wintec and patriot when i wanted some revE and i ended up with the patriot with asian dimms and its lacking, 1000mhz c5 is hard to get stable even with a heatspreader thats copper and not alu with good spacing for air flow. so people had to retool for powerchips on thier high end but gskill was already there so they got the jump

Well that makes sense. :yepp: Only thing that is curious is how cheap they've managed to do it quickly, but I guess that could be explained by G.Skill just figuring they would loose enthusiast to DDR3 by pricing it like DDR3.

mine sure did :clap:

There were some issues with the heatsinks and the pads not touching the chips, but those issues were resolved a long time ago. The heatsinks are one of the best designs in the industry IMO. Practical and good looking. I'm using the DDR2-1066 5-5-4-12 and couldn't be happier.

Yup I know feb 2007, could of been jan. Mushkin had 4GB in 1066Mhz and 2 800Mhz kits for overclocks (most didn't know but em2-6400 2x2GB were full of those chips at the time too), all of which easily did 1066Mhz 5-4-4-12 for pretty near everyone with 2.1-2.225V.

It was a great kit, I have 2 HP2-6400 2x2GB d9's :D

The Redline are looking good. These could be my first 2x2GB kit! :)

( well, at first, I will have to find a place in Germany which sells it. )

The OCZ Reaper X PC2 6400 4-4-3 are a great 4GB kit too. Looking forward in what the Mushkins have to offer.

I'm only interested in 4x2GB kits, for 2x2GB there are better alternatives right now in the market, and dirty cheap :p:

The HP2-6400 2x2GB 5-4-4-12 I have seen under $100 at newegg many times, its even selling for $100 in canada alot.
Don't know how much cheaper you can get then those.

Redlines I have only seen in germany so far selling for 129 euro.

no they don't. that was an issue with the first release of these types of heatsinks. since then it has been fixed. but recommended installation instructions are to not push on the heatsink during installation but to press on the exposed pcb.

and did any of you read my post about the redlines? they are hand picked and should OC very well.

Newegg has a few of the 2x2GB DDR2-800 XP2 Quad Kit CL4-4-4-12 @ 2.0–2.1V in stock last time I looked. With our 30 day compatibility warranty, worrying about a quad kit isn't really needed, if 4 don't work with together, you have 30 compatibility warranty to get a refund.

Good eye, I've been trying to find out if we will have any reviews out there for the redline shortly, but the Redline XP2-8000 2x2GB is currently limited to EU only, so I haven't heard anything yet.
