Hello Xtreme People,
I got in my hands this mobo and i made a little review but it is in Greek.
I will take here some photos :D
All the other things is 99.9% like the X38 version, but i think that the ddr2 support sucks..why to use DDR2 with X48? Crazy:(

Wow, no sticker covering "Maximus Formula" writing...

DDR3 is still waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay too expensive for 95% of pc enthusiasts.
I knew it would take only a couple of new boards for Asus to arrive at "Pwnage Formula" and "Pwnage Extreme" naming scheme. See, they need only to replace the first 4 letters with 3 other, and probably their X58 or whatever chipset ROG boards are going to have exactly these names, you'll see ;) :D
While it sounds odd initially to support DDR2, the bottom line is that they would sell very few boards with DDR3 support.

Looks just the same as the maximus, DDR3 is still totally pointless as the extra bandwidth and higher latencies dont give any performance gain.

DDR3 is the only stuff that will hold decent timings and pack 2gb per stick. Some of us want to have 4gb in just two slots.

I think they should offer a free upgrade from the Maximus to the Rampage, Since from my Exp with the Maximus, it sucks, I seriously thinking about re-installing my P5K Deluxe.
I'm also having a tough time w/ the Max, but it's only because I haven't taken the time to get to know it yet. :D Besides, Maximus sounds better than Rampage to me. I mean, since the only difference between Asus boards is now the name... :D

I think it makes more sense to buy a good set of d9gmh/gkx than to spend $800 for ddr3. It's a lot of money only for a small gain. In the uk you will spend $1200+ for 4gigs of the good stuff.

That's cool but I'll quickly admit that I'm biased here. If I'm using an Intel Processor, I want an Intel Chipset. It has less problems with my X-FI from Day one, no problem with a Mix of IDE & SATA and even S2I (SATA to IDE) converters. My little cheap $87.99 has zero issues. you couldnt even get an AMD chipset around a year or so ago...amd didnt even make chipsets, they quit after the k7 days. now "amd" chipsets are just ATI chipsets.
nvidia used to make some pretty good chipsets for amd back in the day and i still wouldnt completely write them off in the amd sector.
but i agree, for intel, intel chipsets are the best.
