that's insane. excellent score.
Nice score!
What tool did you use for OCing?
Tried rivatuner 2.06 & ATItool 0.27 beta 3, none work...
EDIT: noticed you're using ATItool 0.26, did you tweak settings?
Got almost the same OC as you easyrider.
MSI 8800GTS OC
Core: 800Mhz
Mem: 2200Mhz DDR
Shader: 1925Mhz
Still playing with the card. No mods done yet. And this is for 24/7 setup.
This is nice to see...I feel better already,Any runs with a X2 5000+/6000+/or 6400+ or Core2...Im curiose..because Quads add at least 2000points in the CPU section...Id like to base mine against anotherX2 or Core2...For Overclocking and 3Dmark scores..
Only got mine this afternoon,an Asus and it's still bonestock, stockcooler, stockvoltage.
I did set the fan to 100% with RivaTuner or else temps went through the roof.
Now here's what i got so far, keep in mind that i'm only running a dualcore at a very relaxed 3650MHz, i will bump up CPU clocks later. :)
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v6...ts/0614430.jpg
I will put this baby under water and max her out. :)
Good stuff,
Let me know how you get on as I'm still using the stock cooler.
Will be interesting to see if water makes much difference to clocks.
I just ordered the 670 MHz eVGA G92 based 8800 GTS from newegg (linky)... yeah I know I paid $60 too much for it. Anyway, what kinda temps can I expect idle @ stock fan speed? Also, what are your idle/load temps on the GPU @ 800 MHz?
Hmmz what ram chips are on the GTS, it seems they clock higher then the GT? Or is it still Quimanda or smtn? I got 1 on my way from eVGA, hope it turn out to be a rocker
aww thats a pita, well a reason why I bought the eVGA, as I could use the step up , till mid march, so I hope by then there is some new High end card out there, or I am abit screwed:D and could have better bought the GT, ah well, i shouldnt complain xD
Hmmz I see u guys running al 2k+ for the mem, is that 24/7 setting or just for benchies? I mean I thought I had read somewhere running these cards for periode under these speeds will cause some serious degration and your card will eventually need to be replaced:X
MY best score : 17718 3DMARK06
Nice scores.
It seems I cant get past 740mhz on the core on my card, if I put it on 750mhz it starts to get artifacts after a couple of mins in atitool. With 740/1850mhz it ran good for 8hours (well had prime on too). But I guess 740mhz aint that bad either.

Got one of this babies and i'm completely surprised wuth the performance and overclockability of the g92 core.
Running 24/7 at 70% fan (stock cooler)
Not maxed out...just safe clocks

Im benching 880/1100 on water with voltmods :)
A couple of my scores arent quite what they should be, but im not too fussed- last time I checked, I was GPU category top 5 for all the 3DM benches on HWB, and most of the guys above me were using QX9650s
I've been testing some more with mine and i found that ramping the speeds up in one go gives errors in ATI tool, slowly working your way up works fine though.
I also found that once i got yellow polygons in ATI tool i had to raise memsppeed a bit and i could continue clocking the shaders.
Strange but true, here's where i ended, stock cooler, no vmod and fan at 80%:
When you say no errors is without showing the well know yellow dots ?
I'm saying that cuzz i can do 840/845 core without errors but with that dots with my gigabyte...ati tool says no errors...
Fan still 70% ...didn't try above...too noisy, but for bench...what the hell :D
http://img529.imageshack.us/img529/6...s512oc3xa7.jpg
That's the strang thing about ATItool, if i ramp up speed at once it gives an error after some time running (~10sec) but if i slowly clock my way up it will let me get away with some yellow dots or even yellow triangles without giving an error.
The settings i showed above are without yellow dots ,going higher gives the dreaded yellow dots, with giving an error though.
Which version of ati tool are you guys using to change the clocks?
I'm using rivatuner for clocks and ati tool to test stability.
Improving (without dots :D)...fan 70% stock cooler no mods...

I already forgot my ultra days ago ... :D
Anyone got results aircooled with a 512 g92 vmodded card ?
I just downloaded ATI tool 0.27. ;)
I'm also using RivaTuner to overclock, this prog gives you the abilty to clock the shaders seperate from the core clocks.
Tried some more and found out that my mem rocks:
Try 0.26 atitool .
My GTS was running at 870Mhz vmodded & aircooled.
Now it's watercooled at 950 and in a few days i'll put it on my vga singlestage to check how it goes under subzero temps .
Looks like there aren't many people with this card yet?
Pushed some more for 06 and reached 15K with just a dualcore cpu, GFX is still cooled with stock cooler and unmodded. :)
Tempted to sell my 8800GTX and get this one.
Anyone has some/or willing to do some game benchies at 1680x1050 with AA/ANISO ON? In the benches i've seen the 512 GTS looses to the GTX/Ultra in higher res with AA on.
Is newegg the only place that has these? The GT is so much cheaper...
CompUSA had the card a day early and I just happened to see it, so I've had mine since the beginning, but after initial OCing, Christmas stuff got in the way and I haven't been able to play with it anymore.
I didn't try breaking the links yet. Mine is currently running at 748/1855/1002. I was starting to get the yellow artifacts in ATI Tool w/o errors and that's when I stopped and lowered clocks to where they are now.
My 3DMark06 score is 15536 with my current settings. Not very exciting...I know. :D
After reading this thread, I was inspired to revisit the OCing. What once caused some obvious artifacting originally, was not the case this 2nd attempt. I now have mine set to 780/1080/1890.
I haven't done much with the shader clock. When that gets pushed too far, would I get similar artifacts using ATI Tool? ATI Tool is new to me.
I used to use ATI Tray Tools and used that to program the speed and set the fan to increase with the temperature. When I ran a 3D App, the OC automatically occurred, is ATI Tool able to do this as well? I have profiles saved, but for now, I'm running my OC 24/7.
Thanks.
Can someone post a pics for pencil Vmod of GPU and RAM of 8800 GTS G92?!
Thanks!
Today, after switching to XP because of that stupid vista's TDR error, I was up to try some overclocking in my BFG 8800GTS (G92) and it was already overclocked by BFG with this clocks: 675/1674/972. So I installed RivaTuner to change the clock settings and ATI Tool 0.27 to test stability. This was what I could get today:

Yes I know it's not much, but it's fine for today. Tomorrow is another day...
On Air for now...X2's dont score good so this is mainly what the card does! Would be and easy 15000-16000 with a Quad:D I like AMD though so when i get my new 9650BE ill have to crank out some numbers hehehe.Im shure even @3.2ghzx4core this will rock:D
The lower screen gives you an idea of what my card temp is while benching:D 900+ghz scores ill add later im still testing above that range.Imo memory sucks so does the B/Width!

This is watercooled with an EK fullcover waterblock.
Riva tuner doesnt work with 169.28 drivers?
I have a Twintech 8800GTS on my 2nd gaming rig and i've found some strange things.
This is the first time (along with my previous 8800GT) that ATITool isn't the optimum stress test for my vga.
It can be ATITool stable (for 2 hours) @ 783-1782-1080mhz. But as soon as i play UT3 for 5' it freezes. I found out that i have to lower mem to 1010mhz to be UT3 stable.
I had experienced a similar prob with a 8800GT i had but with smaller difference in mem oc between ATITool and UT3.
The only similarity between the 8800GTS and 8800GT was qimonda mem chips. I'll grab another GTS on weekend and will post my results...

Been lurking here for a few months finally decided to join and do some posting.
Just picked up my EVGA 8800GTS G92. Here are my results.
Screen shots were acting funky. For some reason it would only capture the window that was in front and not the whole desktop. Will have to try to get some screen shots.

Ok...why are you getting higher sm2.0 and sm3.0 scores than me?
Your clocks are 774/1100/1944...mine are 801/1050/2001. I don't see why your are getting higher scores. Am I missing something? Does the CPU score and fsb figure in somehow to how well the computer as a whole performs in 3dMark06?

Why my card gets unstable when I clock BOTH memory and core/shaders
When I overclock only Core/Shader I get 825/1950 AtiTool scan artifacts stable.
When I overclock memory only, I can run it at least 2180 without artifacts.
I have watercooled the card with MCW60 , copper ramsinks, aluminium mosfet sinks.
http://img339.imageshack.us/my.php?i...1900972ei6.jpg
Quick question, are you guys using ATI tools to overclock it or just to monitor performance? I thought it didnt work with g92.
Same here, when i go flat out on core/shaders i have to back down on memory a bit, a bit of a trade off, just try to find a right balance. ;)
People use ATI tool artifactscanner for testing their card overclock stability, overclocking is done best with RivaTuner.
Are you sure your PSU is up to the job?
OCZ GamerXstream 700 W
What drivers are you using? Could there be any software conflicts in my system?
Ntune is installed, I overclock using Rivatuner 2.06
I have tried many drivers, now using 169.61
I tried Mem at 980 (1960) , core and shaders @ default , crashed, image full of blue artifacts and after that BSOD.
AtiTool scans fine , no artifacts :|
need for speed pro street works fine 790/2000/2160
so it should mean that my card isn't faulty.
my GTS's in SLi max out at 800/1945/2160, both use samsung memory, and not the qimonda. And fully stable under crysis
how do you know which cards will have samsung memories?
Theres no way to be 100% sure, best bet is buy the premium cards such as eVGA 8800GTS SSC edition... mine uses samsung memory and its clocked 2250MHZ 24/7 stable! Increased bandwidth and 3dmark06 score leaps and bounds over 1980mhz stock
775/1890/2250 is my final stable OC
820/2000/2160
http://img181.imageshack.us/img181/2831/14135jn3.th.jpg
I haven't tested that in any games yet. No artifacts.
171.20 drivers Vista X64
Yeah , that it is.
OK, I started overclocking the core only. One game that is very unforgiven to high clocks is Assassins Greed in DX10 mode.
Played a bit
715/1743/972 and it didn't crash.
Shaders and mem raise quite a jump to a closest real clock that can be then seen in rivatuners monitoring.
Core is easiest to overclock as it has smallest steps.
After that I try get shaders up and after that mem.
When I have found this balance, I'll think about Vmod. I dear not to do any hard physical mods to card before it is tested well so if something comes up, I can RMA it.
completely stable

Hey guys thanks for the thread. My card was crazy hot with the stock cooler, but I dropped 40c at load (artifact check) from 76c to 36c with HR-03GT sink.
In a one day stretch I was able to get -
820c/1111m/1920s - 3dm05 26039
BFG 8800gts 512 w/HR-03GT. BTW the BFG I got for $220 after MIR. It has Samsung ICs.
Now I need to look for bios tweaks and the best driver for this card. I'm on 169.44 Nvidia beta. Any suggestions for better drivers? It's for gaming, so I'm looking for the best driver to run games at max OC. Important games to me - Oblivion, Witcher, COD4, Crysis.
Thanks!
Bump, guys any suggestions for the best driver for this card?
At the mo 169.44 are the best but they are still betas and i think it will be some time b4 we get some good whql as the new nvidia cards are suppost to be released very soon. I use 169.44 and to be honest they are much like 169.28 as ive seen no improvement.
Also has anyone got WC on there g92 here ??
169.44 - cool that's what I've been running. Thanks for the heads up.
mrcape: How much of an improvement in your temps and your overclocks have you gained by using the HR-03 GT? I'm on the fence about getting it because it doesn't exhaust the heat and takes up so many slots. My OC right now is at 772/1890/1145 and I'm looking to get 800 core and 2000 shader with idle and load temps of 45 and 57.
I'm getting temps between 34-47c idle-full load running a DD IONE & DD TDX both on a single loop, 120.3 Radiator w/D5 pump. Still a n00b, just got this thing together, well almost, enough to make a few quick runs:
http://i6.photobucket.com/albums/y20...Bike/19883.jpg
You water people and your 10C deltas...ugh. I hit 75c in Crysis the other day. Caused a bit of stuttering w/ 774/1944/1050 50% fan. It's getting hot in AZ!
My Idle/Load temps went from 52c/80c with stock fan at 100% to 33c/42c with the HR-03gt. This is at a fairly warm ambient of 82f. On cold nights it's about 5c less all around.
Max OC passing ati tool artifact check and 3dm05/06 -
stock - 769c/1064m/1907s (52c/80c)
hr-03gt - 808c/1111m/1920s (33c/42c)
Could possibly go higher on all clocks, but didn't test stability once I hit my goals. I think stock was failing purely on temps. Only tried 169.44 driver too.
Hope it helps. Like I said it can probably go a tad higher especially shader.
Also, it is big, especially once you add a fan.
My fan is kept at 60%. I took the stock heatsink off, lapped it and applied AS5 and it didn't seem to do anything for my temps, maybe a few lower at load. What did you use for thermal paste and fan on your HR-03GT?
Don't forget that the frequencies on these cards operate in "domains". They aren't actually set to the exact frequency that you use, they set it to a discrete frequency based on which "domain" the chosen one falls into. Say you set your cards core to 750MHz, the core is actually set to 756MHz. Choosing a frequency from 749-763MHz will give you an actual core speed of 756MHz. The shader and memory frequencies operate in similar "domains". Although you say your shader is set to 1907MHz with your stock cooler, its really 1890MHz. Similarly, when you increased the shader frequency to 1920MHz you are actually running at 1944MHz. By using Riva Tuner and Everest you can see this behavior.
I'm using Riva Tuner and Everest. I'm just reporting the actual setting combination that works, not the domain.
I used the Thermalright paste and Zalman F2 90mm fan.
Another thing to note about the HR-03GT - the tape on the ram sinks is weak. I removed it and used arctic silver adhesive. And I used Microcool sinks on the pwms.
Well sorry for being OT but which program is best showing temp on my 8800 GTS 512mb?
I use TechPowerup GPU-z and it says:
GPU Temperature - 40,3C
PCB Temperature - 36C (What is PCB?)
But in Everest Ultimate it says:
GPU - 48C
GPU Surrounding 36C
So which shows correct temps?
RivaTuner all the way
Just broke 15k with rig in sig.
