Finaly a DFi board if my case again, can´t say how it makes my feel!

Well on to my test of choice, Prime!

Using AMD´s heatpipe cooler @ 3000rpm. Needed to get temps down so I lower the v-core :cool: While we are taking about v-core, all I can say is solid - like mount everset. 1,36 bios ->1,36 idle -> 1,36 load.

I have a question for AMD, RD790 is a 10w TDP chip right? How comes it loads around 60C? Both my Gigabyte and DFi does this... PWM is 52-53C @ Load BTW

passive cooling maybe? cheap thermal compound?

does it boot that warm?

I have a guestion guys...I have a Sapphire 790Fx.It's the same mobo with this.When i turn it on, it does a sound...something like when we open a t.v...Got it rma..Just recieve a new one...It does the same noise..Did anyone notice this mysterious sound on a DFI?

Bad news guys! My borad now suffers from the C1 post code........ Tryed booting @ 550mhz 4-4-3-5 @ 2,55v. I left the cmos jumper at "Clear" unplugged power cord and know I´m going to eat some eggs! Mad as hell... Why in gods name did I have to try to beat som silly SuperPi time?!

I get the C1 Error on random myself I hope you have flashed to 11/22/07 yeah...........D.F.I needs to get the hooks out of their asses and get another Bios released and don't try the 12/06/07 Beta either it generates C1 Error more frequently than the rest! But if you find that you need a Bios Chip at any point you can contact me through PM I program them and sell them:D

I have not flashed yet... Do you use winfash? I don´t have a floppy.... Always used win flash with my Dfi boards, always worked good, but flasing in win ain´t realy taken lighty her at XS...

Mayby I can use my usb memory even if DFi recomends winflash?

This is what I was referring too with the Default Values in Bios on this Board NOT being properly Allocated Electrically in PCI-E section in Advanced Chipset Features.

This is one of the things I have wrote you about with 2 x HD 3850 in Cross Fire at default AUTO Detect the wattage is 75 per slot allocated and is insufficient obviously

75W+75 from youre 6-pin sould be suffinciant, even if HD 3850/70 is a pci-e 2.0 card it is something of an halfbread, mening it still needs a 6-pin cable. Don´t know why AMD did this, we all you that all 790-fx board can provide 150w thru the slot itself. Mayby it was needed to compromise for the card to be backwards compatible withg pci-e 1.0?

Whent after som SuperPi 32mb times after all, running 11*315 with memory @ 4-4-4-10 577mhz @ 2,52v... Crached and rebooted itself after the last iteration :mad: To tyerd to try more today.

RyderOCZ: OCZ memory have always worked well on DFI motherborads. My Crucial IS running fine, BUT the OCZ VX2 have come down in price recently and are looking nicer by the minute. How is comapbility with this board? Asking because my TEAM memory will not even boot... Are this modules recomenden for my board? Trying to cut down on the C1 post codes... Mayby recomenden ram helps?

How do you know this? Mine run very cool actually unless I feed high volts in which case one small fan does the job since MSI heatsink are fab. ;)

I'm going to get my DFI 790FX-M2R board tomorrow. Did anyone tried the brand new R7LDC11 beta BIOS? Released on 2007/12/11.

yes I did its fine so far but , only had it in for a day and flashed back to official because got new board yesterday and its shipping bios is 11/22/07 and the other board is being retuned:)

Last night I switched to my Agena quad, and guess what? My dfi board does not have any NB speed "wall" like my Gigabyte... however it does hava a HTT wall around 225mhz so far... Have not tryd the new bios yet, using shipping bios 11/27 2007 know.

PWM runs hotter with my Quad around 65C after 8h+ of prime, 50-55C with my 6400+ Nb around 60-62C with both. Thats all for know, need to test if new bios has HTT wall....

There is actually no option to turn off the fix. I hope DFI will have it in future releases.

I got my board yesterday. I haven't done any testing with AOD. Should i test a special setting in AOD?

EDIT: Found the errata option. It's not in the CPU features etc. You have to go into the memory timings. There is a new option "apply errata 298 workaround". Disable it!

Memory bandwidth and access time are back to normal.

I have gotten a second board as the first had issues but this is me B-Day board so its rocking the house down compared to the first:D

I have not tried AMD Overdrive on this New Board yet but the first one had issues on 11/22/07 Bios with AMD Overdrive locking up just by opening it up!

No problems here with AOD 2.10 and BIOS 2007/11/22 or 2007/12/11. Changed some memory timings, ht-link multi, htt frequency - no lockups.

I only used that Bios for one day but it was also used in Flakey board too!
How is this Bios compared to 11/22/07 ??? I know its kind of soon to tell probably for you but any comments are welcomed;)

Can´t find the new bios anyware! I dont supose anyone saved it? PM me if you did...

BadNizze: Your 2k6 CPU score is ~40 points lower than what mine at the same HT ref./multi/CPU MHz but 1760MHz HT/NB and higher RAM timings gave.

Check your EVEREST latency. IT should be very low if your NB is that high. ;)

speedlimiter: That really does suck. The way it looks to me is that the BIOS fix tries to disable the L3 cache. AMD's CPU is very L3 cache dependent.

If you're on XP, then go into C:\Program Files\AMD\AMD OverDrive\Logs\AOD\, search for the latest log by time/date which is in sync with the AOD crash and open it up to look for this:

Do you see that anywhere?
If you do, this is what causes the lockups on all the machines I've seen so far. It is also what tells you the "fake" HT/CPU low limit whilst it is only when AOD crashes.

This program ever going t be like UGuru where it detects what ever the Bios is set to rather than the usual Defaults AMD Overdrive Detects no matter what the setting?

It detects most accurately like the BIOS values for the Gigabyte and MSI board users, better than other software. ;)
Sami had said this week we should've had the new one release which is better and has core temperature monitoring. That really would be good but the week is over and no release yet. This older one is just too buggy yet. I'm always scared to even touch it and much worse when you oc, because it gives random lockups.

Hi there all, i am new to the community but have been following all your postings for a while as i got myself a DFI Lanparty 790FX, Muskkin 2 x 1gig 1066 ,HD3870 CF and a Phenom 9500. I am very new to overclocking and did get my CPU to 2530 but can't go higher. Running Vista x32 but busy installing X64 and SP1. I also could not run AOD as it froze. Overclocking from BIOS. I am also having problems booting windows with CF and only after a few resets will it start. My question is if the new bios corrects this and also the CF problems . Any other suggestions are welcome as i am a "noob" to overclocking.

What Bios are you on? The new 12/11/07 has the Errata 298 work around in place and its enabled by default in bios under Memory options;)

In windows AOD says "9x". But that number doesn't match with any BIOS setting. ???

Brother, this is something you'll need to get used to, unfortunately.
This is the sound of electronic coils that are "weeping" when current is passing trough them. Manufacturers are using shielded coils to prevent this annoying effect, but DFI (Sapphire) opted to place two big ones by the DIMM's, and they' didn't used shielded :shakes:
When you have silent machine, no additional fans, you can clearly hear this sound, and for people like you and me this sound is nerve eater!:mad:

I don't hear it man not even on the crappy first board....thats Gospel Truth;)

Ok Ok...... lets see a 9600 Unlocked CPU hit 3.6ghz on this mobo 24/7 Orthos Primed for at least 12-18 hrs and if it does i will be impressed.

You will not see 3.6ghz on Phenom not for a while:( But both platforms have there ups and downs Intel right now has the computational Power and Overclocking Head Room but has that pesky High Latency thing going on.

For the Overclocker other than preference AMD brings nothing to the table!

It's already a known issue by the Everest's developers. The earlier Everests crash some new/modern DFI boards during the SMBus scan, because they have a different voltage regulator.

Now when I start the 4.00.976 Everest, it shuts down my computer, and after that I have to switch off and on my PSU because it can't start until that. :eek:

No, I did not know that, I don't even know what "old" version of Everest I have, but it's old!!

Hi y'all

Has anyone experienced a problem with the dual gigabit ports where one port, during a rather prolonged download (nero update), the port just appears to stop working?

This happened to me a few minutes ago. The cable is fine, and there is nothing wrong with the ports on the ADSL router. I switched ports leaving the cable plugged into the PC, but no joi. I then left the cable in the original port on the Router, but changed the network on the PC et voila! All was working again. That suggests the problem is the with the PC network port.
This happened after I had downloaded about 180MB of the 322MB update.
Anyone experience anything similar?

I must admit, this DFI board is proving to be a bit of a pain in the butt.

i'm not sure. I just installed all the drivers as was required, but i dont recall specifically installing the teaming driver. how to check?

Yes, it was done here on XS! You can flash DFI BIOS to Sapphire board and it works as on DFI board :D .

Same here...Ι couldn't find one and got a sapphire.I flashed 2 boards with dfi bios and a friend of mine another one.So i am pretty sure that you will not have a problem.

The R7LDC21 is much better. I just tried the first 4.0 release of Everest and no problems with a 9500 and this board.

I flashed my board to R7LDC21 yesterday but nothing has changed. When I start the Everest 4.00.976 my cumputer shuts down immediately, and I have to turn the PSU off and on to start it again. :shrug:

I've gone all the way till 305 with the multi of my 6000+ at 11(3305) but stability sucks. I've not tried bigger ht . should i go with the newer bios 12/21/07???

Just flashed to 12/21/07 bios, and know 1066 memory is working for my X4, However there is still a HTT wall around 220 on this board! My Cpu boots and is prime stable @ 250 och my gigabyte board! Can run bechmarks @ 260-265 HTT. Memory settings is limited thoug 5-5-5-16 is the "tightest" with 1066... 5-7-7-24 is auto... More tests this weekend!
