6400 now, let K10 mature a bit...
or....
get your hands dirty ;D
How is this 6400+ doing in terms of O.C? Or not getting any love and be better with 6000+
Both are doin around 3.4GHZ iirc.
How about DFI 790FX + 5000+ BE and give me the spare cash ;)
ya what SP33DFR34K said, lol
Hows about we stay on advice for me other than you, its for forum review and all the happy and unhappy campers in AMD Land:)
Bump>>>>>>>>>>> For some input please!:)
A bump after only a half hour? Sheesh.
Get a BE 5000+ and wait out Barcelona. That's what I'd do, anyway.
Trying to spend money at last minute desicion:D You know how that goes:rolleyes: But I got the 6400+ Black Edition:)
And I will be getting a duel socket F+ if they ever get the hooks out of their asses!
Get the Phenom, it's a no brainer.
Nah........looking at performance and considering know bug with Errata I will wait for a couple of months for that also give some time for some user base to get this mobo and for Oskar to roll out some Bios.
Wait for B3 maybe.
Those who can make good use of the 4 cores though, and aren't fussed about overclocking go for it (phenom)
If not, 6400+
Phenoms are very bad ocers ... my 9500 is horrible crap ...
In high resolutions with good GFX are the games performance the same like on ultra high-end Intel as at 6400+ (oced 5000+ BE)
6400+ for now. Phenom needs some tweaking.
q66 + quad gt, thats the same price and much better performance
I already have a DFI P35 & Q6600 @ 3556MHZ
6400+ if you can get the nwest stepping.....Black5000's are 3.7ghz air from what ive read... Im curiouse if the 6400+ can finaly do that...Most of all i would really like to see some one break in a 9500-9600 and get a 3.0ghz on 4cores with the board its supose to be running on....Thats my 2cents:D
i'm curious when some of you guys say to wait for better phenoms. i'm guessing you mean a better revision/stepping?
i find it funny that DFI makes better AMD boards than Intel boards. i had a Ultra-D and still do, loved that board. does anybody know if DFI will make a 'Ultra-D' like board on AM2+ (single card config board)? i have the itch to jump back to AMD :D.
since the only thing i know that is bad about phenom 9500 right now is the errata bug, i would go for the 6400+.
where do you guys see 5000+ BE
all i see is 2300,2350 and 2400 BE.
I dont mean to be rude but at least say which chip he should use it your gonna come here just for that,Also read info below on Stepping
From what i Know the G2 cores are the Newest BLACK 5000+, 5000+DOBOX and BE2400 and 5200+ DOBOX... (2300 /2350 are G1).... G2 is the best right now in BE land! So if you need a high GHZ Chip that is same stepping the BE/G2 core the numbers are below...
Items with DOBOX should all be G2 stepping . It is same as BE2400..for Volts, starting @1.25V/1.30v/1.35v and up...

Hope this helps ya .....I always go By Core Revision....I am getting a// BE2400 for a buget build ...the mobo MSI K9N neo my brother has dosnt go higher than 1.3volts so know i can at leastget @ 2.6ghz with 1mb L2 @45watts:up:
when they say be they mean black edition not the biz edition that has extra low power consumption
its rite here
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...00%2bblack
Just buy it Campbell, you know you want it.
Not a matter of want anymore Jim I had already bought the mobo when I posted this thread:D Decisions, decisions....whats a fella to do? O'h thats right I forgot I am AMD's future:clap:
i wouldn't get teh 6400+ BE, i was reading on here earlier that its multiplier was locked. and the 5000+ BE was unlocked. but people already have some results with the 5000+BE... so idk...
having the 6400+BE overclocked since i haven't seen anyone do it yet would be nice...and it would be great to see what you do with that DFI motherboard ;)
if you are ever looking at someone to sell the DFI790 or the 6400 to once you review it, LOL, i call dibs!! LOL!!!
The Amd 6400 being clocked quite high has a 15x multi allready, multi unlocked isnt that spectacular yes Amd 5000BE can OC well but performence isnt that great compared to 6400BE due to 512KB core vs 1MB core... Thats a vauable factor to consider!!
Also 6400BE has had price drop at OCUK for £117!!
What for Phenom to drop in price at least or wait for later releases but you need one now since that adivce given get 6400BE!!
Its a no brainer currently
I can feel it this Motherboard is going to be a Monster:D
You sure about that? Don't matter much anyways I will be lowering the Multi to get the HT up and jack up the Ram performance on my $330.00 Cell Shock Ram that I have yet to be able to have fun with since my DFI P35 don't like the IC's on the sticks
I would go with Phenom - simply more fun :p: (or headache like other people like to call it ;) )
6400 BE has upward locked multi at 16x! If you're not planning battling with coldbug then that's not an issue :) !
My 6000+ has 15x multi max. but I'm using 14x at most, usually 13x or 7x
PS. When you're getting DFI? I can't wait for some real user review of it ;) .
Will have both the Processor and Mobo by weeks end:up:
Brother Esau!
Also have fun with those Cell Shock sticks.
I was thinking about buying some until I read your post on them
But anyway, Hope you get a good chip!
Phenom
Why the switch to AMD brothe???? why the downgrade? from the quad?
Because I want to see what this new DFI 790FX AMD board can do and I do like AMD too that in addition to doing a positive review on his board so people can see what DFI has brought to the table in terms of new AMD overclocking with the 790 chipset and the Phenom issue will not last very long anyways.
the multiplier is locked at 15 on this cpu...it has been said multiple times in a previous post. the 6400+ bE is locked at 15...which isn't bad but you can't go above it...but when you can bump your memory speeds up and get them caught up to your processor... then it flies; so screw the 5000+BE
get the 6400BE
6400+ should have a multi of 16, just for the correctness. ;)
It would be nice to see the dfi running a 6400. 16x is the multi and is locked. My cpu will run up to 3.52. Very hard to get stable above that in melbourne fl. Its just to hot
do you work for DFI?
If you are referring to me....no I do not work for D.F.I , but I do like D.F.I products and what they do and stand for as a company so in short I guess that makes me a fan boy and no regrets at all on my end admitting to that either:D
Aukland, New Zealand heh? My Dads from Aukland:)
CPU will be here on Thursday:) Lets just hope the Motherboard arrives the same day
SWEEEEEET. keep us posted
I'm playing with DFI 790FX and Phenom9500.
DFI 790FX has BIOS setting for NB multiplier(needed BIOS uptdate to R7LDB22)
HyperTransport base clock limit is ~245 or so, at least for my own Phenom9500...
...we need higher multiplier:)
Update: ......Thanks to the Good Folks at Motherboardpro.com I will be receiving Both my D.F.I 790FX-M2R & my AMD 6400+ Black Edition on Thursday:woot:
Thanks for the great service Mike @Motherboardpro.com:toast:
your dad is from Auckland eh? that would make you half kiwi! Looking forward to results.
Looking forward to your impressions Brother Esau.
I just looked up the board at MotherboardPro and noticed it only supported up to 4GB of memory, kinda odd, anyone know the motivation for this? And yes I understand the majority of folks don't need more then 4GB of ram, I'm just interested in the reasoning behind the 4GB limitation.
On my Gigabyte RD790FX with 5000+ BE i can reach +/- 400MHz HT frequency, but with Phenom only 230MHz ... where is problem uh?
OBR.......you like the new chipset?
Got Hosed by Fed Ex 2day:shakes: Friggin Lamo's
I have some results coming with the gigabyte, a 6000+ and a 9500+, sorry to say even with a trick NDA bios I still can not get over 234HTT on the Phenom...300+ is easy with the 6000+
running 4Gb ram at 1100+ with 37.5nS access latency is quite cool i must admit.
Will post some thoughts tomorrow, i only have the hardware while monday next week
Got my D.F.I 790FX-M2R & 6400+ Black Edition up and running today:D
Stand by to stand by:rofl: ..............Will post up my review when I get some insight into Bios settings and a little bit of familiarity in with the board .
nice
Good News........Areca Raid Controllers work without issue:woot:
Results Results Results! :D
Just a Little Taste of Ram performance for ya;)
Bring it on!!
More......yes:D
From what I see in comparison the D.F.I 790FX-M2R completely Annihilates the ASUS in Ram Performance:clap: :D
@ZL1Killa............See I told you whats up with this board silly wood pecker.....lol
How high can you get that 6400+?
Does it run at 45w or 65w?
If you're a gamer you can see here a 2.4GHz Phenom matches or passes up a stock 6400+ in every bench. It gets absolutely stomped in the "Lost Planet" cave bench.
http://enthusiast.hardocp.com/articl...50aHVzaWFzdA==
I'd probably wait on the 9600 BE and grab that.
I will get a Phenom when there has been some revisions made to it and some of the issues sorted out.
