Enjoy Full HD 1080p Multimedia Home-Theater Entertainment ,P5E-VM HDMI
-
Looks like a really nice board. Any idea on price?
-
this is awesome for the home theater guys.
-
i think that a 2400pro or even a 2600xt and a p5k-vm will be cheaper
-
I'm keeping a close eye on this one, keep it under $180 and let it overclock as good as the P5K-VM/G33-DS2R, and I'll take it without question. I hate the vanilla/tan color that ASUS likes to use on their boards, it's so ugly looking.
The only different between the G33 and G35 chipset is the integrated graphic chip, correct?
-
-
Only thing missing is Optical in/out.

Yes and widely available from most board makers
Just another grab for your $ from Anus
-
So, G35/X3500 at last makes its late entry.
How's it's performance?
-
a mainboard with a real hdmi connector that does not require a dongle or an adapter or whatever? thats going to sell like chocolate chip cookies:p:

Normally, an intergraded video output is VGA..
You can get a Cheap Cheap 7100 Series Video card from XFX that has DVI on a PCI-E format.

That's weird. I thought HDMI was up to 1080p or nothing. It can be a typo...
This board has nothing on my 2600pro htpc.:fact:
-
the question is, will you be able to pump audio, namely TrueHD and DTS MA through that, or is it video only?
-
If it had fiber out this would be a great board for an HTPC

Ah. I'm just used to my Biostar TA690G which has VGA, DVI and HDMI.

anyone have a clue how much stress this will put on the cpu????

The MOBO?
Normally a Multimedia comp is not normally under load very much.. Should be fine..

What, decoding 1080p? I wouldn't think it'd be too much of a burden for an E6550 or similar. I'd rather have an HD2600XT or something to offload the decoding if I built an HTPC, though.
-
I really don't see anything special about this board. And I see no reason that abit board wouldn't be able to output at 1080p, if anything that ATi chipset would have a little more oomph.
-
This gigabyte mobo has had hdmi for a while too.

I guess its just the 690 chipset.

using the Abit IH90HD with a E4300 palying Blue ray movie(WildHogs) CPU is 90-100% using a Q6600 CPU is 30-40% all cores.
media PC's playing Bluerays with onboard Vid are a lost cause.
using a Abit 650i SLI with Q6600= 1 8500GT CPU 10-20% using 2 8500GT's in SLI CPU is
0-1%
Same movie
player is cyberlink
Just FYI.

yes, but on a media pc, that 90-100% doesnt matter because that is all you would be doing with it while watching the movie...

But it does matter very much if you like the HSF to be inaudible :p:
-
at 90/100% cpu load the software will start dropping frames to prevent judder, so you wouldnt want that..
for playing 1080p/24fps hardware accelleration is pretty much a must, or you have to start using quad's in you're htpc, but a cheap cpu combined with a hd2400 would be the most bang for the buck i think..
:2cents:

what we need is better mATX mobos w/o onboard video and 3rd party vid card manufacturers to start making HDMI vid cards in full compliance. i'm still shocked at the lack of options for true HDMI vid cards. i thought there would be tons by now.
-
Apparently the BIOS is pretty well specc'ed out got a slew of voltage options in there. Should be good for a gaming machine too if it can handle Quad cores better than its current offering !!!!

I wass all  for 690G until I discovered that three different boards kept freezing while playing Quake 3 (1+ hours, the boards were MSI AGM2 FIH, Biostar 690G and the third one was F/conn). And I don't have a space for extra fans in my uATX case. Asus (Intel chipset) works fine in the same conditions. Otherwise, 690G is a great chipset with great price for what it provides.

They have been available for ages and only $~105AU
HD2600Pro
I use one in my HTPC and they are fantastic
