Foxconn is the first w/ the 8800GT page up. Not suprising I guess since they are a huge OEM manufacturer and the 8800GT is probably going into a lot of OEM computers.

I mean really--ATI went ahead and is using R6xx with the HD 2000 and soon HD 3000 series, but nVidia went ahead and is using G8x and G9x with the 8000 series. Did they agree to, on average, have the correct names and correct cores for their products?

G86 is already taken ;)

Interesting maybe it is a new core since the shrinked it and maybe did some minor improovemnts that made it to G9X.

It might just be a typo but nvidia never officially stated anything so its possible

With "rumored" prices already from start too, that's nice, around $250 tag that is.

But yea I have a hard time jumping onto 8800GT wagon without seeing more of ATIs offering first. I don't think DX 10.1 API support will be that important as it's most likely gonna take perhaps 2 years before we might see something utilizing that and by then it's probably time for me to upgrade again so for me it won't be an important factor, I'm more interested in seeing if ATI's AA issues are fixed and how they overclock.

i too want to know if ATI fixed their AA, if not then i'm going to have to go with a 8800GT512.

I've already gotten my 680i board in as a replacement for my current crossfire board... still unopened though, but dang tempted to jump on two of the 8800GT 512mb cards for SLI regardless. Especially given the fact that crossfire overclocking doesn't stick with the current cards between reboots and is a bit of an annoyance to do each time :(, I am thinking toward the nVidia camp.

thats not true unless they changed it. i bought a 7800gt then the 7900gt came out latter for less. and i stepped up to a 7900gt co superclocked for free because i paid like $30 more for my 7800gt then the 7900gt was being advertised for.

8800GTX has 64 TMUs (texture filter units), 32 texture address units.

8800GT has 56 TMUs (texture filter units), 28 texture address units.

Hope you're right on this one bakalu. :)

But seeing the early game benchmarks, it would make sense putting it between current 8800GTS 640MB and 8800GTX in performance. Lower bandwitdh and slightly less TMUs but higher shader clock and slightly higher core clock would put it there.

I think 8800GT is between 8800GTS and GTX stock and will cost $250 and can be clocked to 8800GTX+ performance but the new 8800GTS 512MB is between 8800GTX and Ultra in performance and costs 300~$310 and can be overclocked to 8800 Ultra+ performance. Both cards should great cards for the price. :) 8800GT 512MB looks to be another 7900GTO or perhaps slightly better even from price/performance/overclockability view which would make it a perfect replacement for my 7900GTO but I might have to wait for some proper testing of ATI's offerings.

Would love to see how it does in shader heavy games though. :)

Some shops already lists the cards for around $250 and while launch date isn't confirmed by NVIDIA itself internal sources tells 29th this month (in 1½ week) and also several swedish sites have that date specified as the estimated date when they appear in stock. :) Some are even more positive tho and thinks 23th but I doubt that but we can always hope. :p:

Come on, couldn't they have tried a little higher resolution than that so we could more clearly see the GPU performance. lol

But the results in relation to the other cards are pretty expected to me for game like this. 8800GT does fine compared to a GTX and Ultra, expected. Also expected poor results for Geforce7 cards in relation to midrange Radeon 2xxx cards due to known poor shader performance of GF7 cards like we see with all the Unreal3 engine based games.

Well at least I'm happy knowing being able to play this game at 100 FPS @ 1280x960 with high details in a few weeks.

1280 x 1024 doesn't exactly show a lot because everything performs well at that level

The real test is whether 1680 x 1050, 1920 x 1200, and 2560 x 1600 shows it scaling well or falling hard because at 1280 x 1024, a 8800GTS320 can blow through almost everything without breaking a sweat

Im quite happy with the numbers considering my monitor maxes out at 1280x1024. :D

seriously, i want to see some 1920x1200 benches. i do understand that the majority of gamers out there are still on 1280x1024 but we all know that just about anything after a GTS320 can handle that res.

anyway as for how well the GT performs .. i am really eager to see that, as if GT beats GTS, how much will the GTS, and GTX cost?? seems like GT will be ~ $250 MSRP.. also seems like it will have 112 shaders

with 256bit interface, and lower ROP/TMU count it will be limited tho ... vs GTX's 24ROP 32TMU, and GTS's 20ROP and 24TMU, but in shader intense games it can perform near Ultra with 112 shaders @ 1500MHz vs ultra's 128SP @ 1500MHz

still waiting for that D8E tho, that G92 GX2 style card.

$250 would be awesome--can't wait to see the first rebates dropping it below $220. I'll save up a bit for one if that becomes the case.

Pretty much same as current 8800GTS which has TDP 108W while GTX is 145W TDP and 8800GT is rumored to be around 110W. Remember the die shrink helps quite a bit despite clocks are increased so expect it to be around 8800GTS levels.

That is right, but the speciality is here, that this fill-rate is preserved when you activate trilinear filtering or 2x bi-AF and not like on the most other chips, who halve in this cases.;)

Guys, just run a multi-texture fill-rate-benchmark and you will see that your G80 does not have 64 or 48 TMUs.;)

The maximum output is limited by the 32/24 Textur-Adresses!

So better speak about, 32/24 TMUs with free trilinear/2xbi-AF, that better describes it.;)

This is also a reason, why NV added on G84/86 Texture-Adresses, because in this segment bilinear/optimized-tri Performance is more demanded, than free HQ-filtering.

2900XT is 16 TMU, 16 ROP.

32, you see that is has more than TFs.
But is a feature of R6xx, maybe a bit useless, to accerlate vertex-fetches, for which simple point-samplers avaiable in the R6xx "Texture-Units" (4x20).

Sure you could speak in G80's case about 64 practical TMUs, because nobody would play without tri or 2xBi-AF filterung on such a chip or?;)

All the benches and info I have seen are all from chinese sites.
Isn't it just a little bit odd that Not one single western review site has benchmarked this card??????

For me it's never been this clear that we're soon getting a midrange beast released. And my own arguments in short (could easily write a full A4 page or two argumenting about this so I try to stick to a single sentence or two here) on this would be:

1) G92, based on an highend architecture we know works well => G80.

2) Due to being a G80 based and not many changes at all but have a BIG die-shrink (90nm to 65nm!), it speaks very well for that we're most likely going to see a huge overclocking boost here compared to the older brothers. If there's no huge changes in architecture it means none of those "changes" in architecture can become some plausible bottleneck, now the biggest concern is only how far the components used on these cards can go or how much they can take. Also the weak looking single card slot solution NVIDIA designed to use speaks well for overclockability too, indirectly due to lower manufacturing process => lower power consumption => lower heat dissipation.

3) It's focused on shader performance (taking price into account). You all got the specs for 8800GTX GTS and GT, so I won't list the difference here but you quickly realize the focused shader performance comparing these cards to each other taking price into account as well. Future games will only be more and more shader dependant, ie the focus 8800GT has is the right thing to focus on. We're spending money worth spending on.

2x GT here I come!!! I can't wait!!!

well if all these leaked benchmarks are even close to being accurate, then the GT with its confirmed 112 SP has in fact retained the setup of the G80 core and will have 28 TMUs (one qaurter of its number of SP, just like G80. GTX:128SP/4=32TMU and GTS 96SP/4=24TMU)

8800 GTS has 96 SP and 20 ROPs.

8800 GT has 112 SP but it has 16 ROPs. Why ?

Because ROPs and MC are coupled, they are arranged in ROP-Partitions, each consists of 4 ROPs and a 64Bit Memory-Channel.

SPs are coupled with the TMUs in the Clusters: 4 TMUs and 16 SPs.

But this all relates to G80, maybe in G9x there are some changes...
