RivaTuner v2.04 Released!

Highlited the important part. This should be interesting, too bad I'm not a GF8 owner, otherwise I had tried it out immediatly.

Please take a note that by design of new NVIDIA drivers ForceWare's NVAPI overclocking interfaces no longer scale shader domain clock when raster domain clock is changed on G8x graphics processors and provides completely independent shader domain clock adjustment interface instead. It means that all overclocking tools supporting traditional overclocking interfaces (e.g. RivaTuner, ATITool or PowerStrip) change raster domain core clock only when overclocking core with these drivers. Now RivaTuner is the only third party overclocking tool supporting new independent shader domain clock adjustment interface too and able to overclock it with these drivers. Currently shader domain overclocking in RivaTuner is available for power users only and is exposed as user adjustable shader/ROP domain clock ratio represented by ShaderClockRatio registry entry. The next version of RivaTuner will provide independent shader domian clock control directly via overclocking GUI. Please take a note that by default it applies to Vista ForceWare 163.67 only, however Windows XP owners may also force RivaTuner to use Vista-specific NVAPI overclocking interfaces by setting NVAPIUsageBehavior registry entry to 1.
* Updated RivaTunerStatisticsServer v2.4.1 bundled utility:
o Added OSD coordinates bounds checking to Direct3D10 OSD rendering code. This feature is provided as a workaround for some early Direct3D10 drivers not performing internal bounds checking of supplied data and tending to work improperly when OSD is rendered outside the screen.
o Improved race condition preventing algorithm in the hooking system. New algorithm improves compatibility with multithreaded rendering engines (e.g. Bioshock) calling frame presentation routine concurrently from different threads.
* Updated D3DOverrider v1.5 bundled utility:
o Considering that triple buffering is normally being used in conjunction with vertical synchronization, now D3DOverrider gives you options for forcing VSync for DirectDraw, Direct3D8, Direct3D9 and Direct3D10 applications. Similar to triple buffering forcing options, new VSync forcing options are fully hardware and OS independent and can be used to force VSync under any OS on both NVIDIA and ATI GPU based display adapters.
o Similar to triple buffering forcing events, VSync forcing events are also automatically sent to RivaTuner's event history panel. Please take a note that it applies only to Direct3D8 and Direct3D9 VSync forcing events which are performed once per application lifetime. DirectDraw and Direct3D10 VSync forcing events are performed at per-frame due to specifics of DirectDraw and Direct3D10 API so they are not reflected into event history panel.
o Improved race condition preventing algorithm in the hooking system. New algorithm improves compatibility with multithreaded rendering engines (e.g. Bioshock) calling frame presentation routine concurrently from different threads.
* Improved hardware monitoring module:
o Improved event history panel. Now event history panel's tooltips are able to display text for multiple application specific even markers registered in the same time (e.g. triple buffering and VSync forcing events sent to event history panel by D3DOverrider).
* Added Vista power broadcast messages support. Now suspended mode related features like pausing monitoring module in suspended mode and restoring various settings after suspended mode are also available under Vista.
* Improved installer. Now the installer allows altering PunkBuster related protective options, so you can easily disable the protections completely if you don't play and games with PunkBuster or you can reduce protection level if you use some security related software products blocking protected processes activity.
* Added update installation logging feature. Now RivaTuner fully documents process of each update installation into Updates.log file in the application folder.
* Minor UI changes and improvements.

oo i might have to try that out but im not a fan of messing with my reg though since im not on vista

I knew about the ROP and shader clock had been splitted in v163.67 but I wasn't expecting an application to come out this early that supports the new NVAPI so that's good news. I think this is interesting especially for WR 3DMark hunters. ;) (but yea 163.67 is a beta driver though). Oh well the more clocks to play with the more fun.

Still no overclock in Vista 64. Do you know any tool for that?

RivaTuner v2.03 works fine for me on Vista x64 with driver protection on...

I can overclock only to 594 ROP, but higher is not applyed. Set 650Mhz Core (ROP), Apply and in the monitoring is again 594. Before my card clocks much higher. But yeah, the shaders don't rise up :D How to clock them with 2.04??

Go to Advanced user and look for "ShaderClockRatio" under overclocking. Set the ratio you wish, and reset the ROP domain clock (set stock, apply, overclock, apply). The shader domain clock should now follow the ROP domain clock accordingly to your set ratio. I use a ratio of 2.43 at the moment for 684MHz ROP, 1674MHz shader domain.

Also, after editing your ratio, you should yet again be able to set higher ROP values.

Any overclock/declock with it in Vista x64 for me = instant crash.

10x, this works. Max stable Shader domain - 1620. Max stable ROP domain - 621. The next step is 648, but in 3d the OS freeze and then throttle to default values. And need restart to overclock again...
If i rise up the PCI-E frequency, do the clocks be higher stable?

That took 2 posts more than I thought....

I can't figure out the shader...
I put in different ratios under power user/overclock/shader ratio and hit okay
I restart rivatuner
Then I go to the overclocking section, hit default, then apply new core/memory settings and the ratio doesn't apply at all.
It's the same as before, 1566 shader up to 688 and then it hits 1620.
Am I doing something wrong?

Enter ratio 3 and see 1600 shader with 540 ROP ;)

I cannot find where to enter the desired shader/Rop ratio in Rivatuner. Under the power user tab there is not such thing displayed. :S

NVAPIUsageBehavior 1 if you're running xp as well.

Im running Vista 32bit + this is my first time owning a nVidia card and also the first time i have rivatuner installed so im a little confused. A screenshot of where the shader/rop ratio can be set could say more to me than writing and would be very appretiated. Thanks.

OMG i played with the Shaderratio yesterday, hehe, was quite a performance diffrence in fact...
and btw, u can use like 2.3 ratio to get less or more...not just 2, 3 ,4.

i did set it to 2.5 and managed to get my Shader to 2000mhz stable while the ROP where 810, and 2268mhz mem, i got 14000p 3dmark05 in VISTA :) with a 8600GTS ;) by doin this i got 1100p more JUST BY THE SHADER CLOCK :P
talk about this is a golden thing för benchers! now i just have to to the pencil mod on my card as i done before, and i managed to get it to 1GHZ Core and 2360 mem, and 15500p in 3dmar05 but this were in xp, wonder what i will get by using 2000mhz shader! gotta try! hehe.

Yup, that's what I expected when really trying to max out all clocks on the GPU, a bit higher performance possible now on GF8 series. That's a nice boost and VERY nice score for a 8600GTS (of course your CPU helps a lot too ;)).

How about 163.69 that was just released? It support the same thing as well, splitted shader & ROP clock? Quite a few ppl says this driver is even better than 163.67 so. Or you can grab the tweaked Xtreme-G 163.67 SE driver that ppl interested in modified drivers seem to love. I haven't had time to try it out yet but it's supposed to be an awesome driver.

Im having a little issue here, and am wondering if anyone else if experiencing it or knows what I can do to fix it.

When running 648 ROP the shader clock scales when changing the shaderratio, but when I go up to my next step at 675 ROP, no matter what shaderratio I put in, my shader clock will not go past 1350 :(

Anyone know what I can do to get by this?? TIA!

Does 2.04 work with x64 and unsigned driver protection?

yea rivatuner paid the cow 500 for the license and got signed.

i put the new 163.69. and my core is locked at 594 aswell. Ive always used atitool to oc. But ill play with the shader level, mine is 1188 right now. good to know info about that!

well it works just fine, i have my core@605 and set 2.3 ratio for 1350 shader. ! at least i can go past 594 now

is there any truth now with current drivers that higher shader clock=worse performance in shader heavy games like FEAR or oblvion? i read a thread on here from2006 saying that was the deal.

Ill leave it set where it is, 1350 shader is what GTX uses stock..dont see how it could be bad

do different ratio settings have different effects? i seem to get the same results regardless of the ratio used.
