Whats the possibility of playing crysis with an 8800 gts 320 with all settings on high/directx10 at 1280x1024 with good frame rates?
That's what the developper said... now let's see if it's true in the final version :)
IMO though for us 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 guys we'll need next gen cards to run the game properly.
It doesn't run that smooth on my quad running at 3.5 and gts overclocked.
I don't even have it on the super high settings but the high ones at 1280x1024.
I'll wait for the final to come out to make a full conclusion
good one! crysis will definitely prove itQuote:

i thing comparing to the 1080p consoles, u can't benchmark crysis on non less the 1050 and of course 1200 resolutions!
1920*1200 for me :D
whats the exact res for 1080i?
1920*1080
pc lcd has few more lines so 1920*1200

Yep, you're right at that point but I just like to know how the beta demo runs at that setup/specs! Is there anybody who got 8800gts / dual core / 2gig and vista?
Give me more info please :) like: high settings, 1280x1024, 8800gts 320mb, aa/af, processor, 2gig
question: does a quadcore mean it runs that much smoother or is a dual core (like the 5200@2.6) enough for crysis? Crysis said you really need a 8800ultra a quadcore and 3 GB to run it at high settings SMOOTH.
My general question is: is a 8800gts 320mb, dualcore, 2gig @ vista enough for high settings(not very high)(you can put your settings to very high in cfg) @ 1280x1024 @ bèta demo (the full version can only be better i think?)
somebody with an reasonable answer to those questions?
Because i'm not going to make a budget upgrade if it's not, than I'm going to wait another month or so!
thanks in advance!
Where do I start lol. I'm assuming there are multiple copies of crysis betas out there, because some were able to select "directx10" and they mentioned that it ran about 12-15fps faster.. (in xp, obviously it's not really directx10 since it's in xp, but it did improve their frame rates.I don't have that button/option, so that must be in a different version. Also, I don't have any icelevels or single player mode, only multiplayer mode.. Very High settings are disabled on mine and I can only select high settings.
My system is a 3.5quad with a 8800gts overclocked. I know that the beta version does not have quad support, so therefore I'm assuming anyone with a duo core should have the same exact results.
When applying 8x antialiasing, the settings are slow. In battleplay, you can get anywhere from 24-32fps, but then it can creep down to as low as 4-12fps.
Inside before you go out it is higher.. 38-42fps.. outside around 22-30fps. It's not a constant though, since the fps jump a lot.
It's not smooth and does not look as nice as the demos I have seen. I can put the settings at 2x anti-aliasing but the truth is that this game is so buggy at the moment, that I can't make a real judgement to what the final Game will be like. Maybe they will fix the bugs and the game will run at 40+fps on a gts in very high settings under directx10.. you never know
I'm assuming those are directx10 version.. Mine is running at 1280x1024 resolution
(x3210 3.5oc, 2gigs 1066crucial ballistix, 680i, gts 320 (688/1620/1010memory)
Eddie3dfx,
I've heard you can put your settings to very high in your cfg. file, if you do that you have some extra details like: sunrays between the trees and much more nicer and smoother grass and explosions with better lightning.
sunrays no.. There is some weird rainbow that makes the water turn weird colors.. looks horrible.
The nuclear explosion looks like an ms paint programs lol.
I will have to try editing the cfg.. But I'll have to wait until my evga 680i rma comes in ;(
Eddie3dfx,
this settings in config are for the highest settings + sunrays (they do exist) :

awesome, thanks.
The 2nd I get my 680i back I'll give a full review along with single 8800gts vs sli
A Thanks! you're awesome!
i'm hoping my rig can run it smoothly @ 1680 by 1050
I am running it alright on vista with my 320 8800gts but I am waiting until the demo before I judge it further
The game is playable for me at 1280x1024 high settings
What do you think of this ugrade I'm going to buy this week for running crysis and future games?
I already have an 8800gts and a zalman hp600 psu
My upgrade: intel 6750, msi p35 platinum, 2GB ocz reaper pc6400
Do you think it will run smoothly enough at high settings on a 1280x1024 screen?
Anyone tried 2560 X 1600 yet?
LOL who has the kinda power to run @ that res?? your rig looks stacked how come you havent tried it?Quote:
Anyone tried 2560 X 1600 yet?
what are you gtx's running @?
i don't think that right now there is such a rig that will run this res on average 45-60 fps.
Many people will be running the game with the same results. According to Crytek, the beta is far from optimized and the final version will run much, much smoother.
I'm getting ~30FPS on all high @ 1650x1050
System:
C2Q 6600 @ 3.4GHz
Single 8800GTX OC'ed
Vista Ult. 64bit
4GB RAM
Again, beta is not optimized - The SP demo will be MUCH better for comparison/benching. :)
Are you in beta? I can't disclose much (I dont want to get into trouble with NDA rules), but personally I think if your specs are like mine, you should be able to run at 1680x1050 all on high settings with 2x AA and DX10 with no problem.
Crysis is being optimized for dual and quad cores - I'm not sure how much of a performance difference there will be with dual vs quads though.
Can't wait for the SP demo! :up:
30fps average is very different then 60fps average which is much much much more playable.
it should be run at least like the newest console the xbox 360 which is 1080p and 60fps.
crysis as we see for sure will become the next game benchmark on the net.
in times of multicpu and multigpu a high end pc should run it above the average 60 fps and faster then the mightiest console!
this is FPS after all - the game that becomes benchmark for graphics. and one of the heaviest applications there are.
to have 60fps average and aa*4 and hdr, (or crysis won't support hdr?)which is much better .........i don't see that happens with today's hardware of any kind. :(
30FPS is excellent when outdoors in the MP beta. No one, no matter what system specs they have, is going beyond that average. Again, the game is far from optimized so performance in beta absolutely does not represent the final version.
60fps average with all settings on Ultra High? Probably not until the new nVidia G90 chips are out. Although I would think ppl would come close with 8800GTX SLI setup and an OC'ed quad.
I'm currently playing the beta will all on High (not Ultra) and 1680x1050 and it looks *@#$ amazing. I can only imagine on ultra... :shocked:
Man I'm running the beta at 1920*1080 and the performance is BRUTAL! I get about 15-35 FPS (sometimes higher indoors) maxed, and it doesn't seem to help to lower the settings...
I tried adding these lines to the system.cfg file. I read a repost of this in the gamespot forums.
Anyone know of a good Crysis forum with beta discussion?Quote:
g_useProfile = 1
r_ShadersAsyncCompiling = 1
r_driver = "DX9"
net_wmi_check_interval = 0

r_UsePom = 1 (Parralax Occlusion Mapping)

r_TextureCompressor = 0 (Disables texture compression)
r_VegetationSpritesAlphaBlend = 1 (Good for plants)
r_OceanRendType = 1
Unfortunately no, but I'm dying to try out the game....
The only problems for me I see are:
1. I need an extra 2gigs of RAM (they're dirt cheap these days anyway)
2. I need Vista... meh..
Other than that, I'm good :D
Also, I might need a DVD-drive (my old one went the way of the dodo two days ago :( ), but that's just a hunch :p:
Best Regards :up:
its brutal on my 640mbGTS 640/1500/1950
i set my res to 1380x768 max detail and it is quite playable. once i go native res though its a slide show
they gotta alot of work ahead of them. quite a few bugs. but i have faith they will pull it off. they have too, or theres gonna be a boatload of angry gamers at their doorsteps
I play 1280x1024 at a gts but I don't have a key :D
my new hardware is comming! When te hardware is installed I'm going to look for someone who has a key for me for testing :D
emm.. sorry for offtopic and for asking the same stupid question for 3rd time - don't any1 here have an already unneeded beta key?
or is there any way to get the beta running w\o activation(i know about crack\warez policies on the forum, so please if u'll answer this part of question - do it via PM ;) )
So any of you fellas played the new beta version 3? It apparently has many performance tweaks and visual additions/tweaks.
Trying to download the new beta, but my network's borged...
So it's a tedious process of trying to make it comply to my will :( :p:
Best Regards :toast:
the 3rd beta version is free! fileplanet.com!
if you create an account on fileplanet you have free acces to the 3rd beta!
let me see some benchmarks guys!
The game better be well playable with the 8800GTS or it will not collect as many players as it should. There are a lot of people who have not yet even moved to DX10 cards and I don't think Crytek would want to lose all the potential buyers. I am not even touching the beta as I can't see it being a good judge of how the real thing will run. As far as I am concerned at the moment Crysis is building a lot of hope and it's not going to be as great as people are expecting and foaming at the mouth over. I hope that I am proved wrong but I just can't see it being as great a game as people think.
Well the graphics are tremendously better, especially in reference to the water, smoke, and explosions.
There is a new graphical bug regarding textures and shaders, where some textures appear as yellow geometry labeled 'shader' and 'compiler'.....lawl
Well all in all I'll have to say that this optimizations are very promising. I practically doubled my FPS from beta 2 to beta 3......so the retail will be insane. Everyone participating in the beta be sure to include feedback at this forum. The password for the sections is in you invite email.

Hmm can some help me with the config.
With file are it ?
I dont know with file you use and where it is located.
I want to test the extra high settings that now are grey out.
Here's a pack of 124 screenshots (.PNG) of Beta3 with almost playable settings played on a 3.6GHz Q6600 + 8800GTS 320MB (50% OC'ed):

Playing at almost playable with everything high in-game and no adjustments in the driver, at 1680x1050, with the setup in my sig.. Seeing as they're touting large FPS-gains in the final release, I should be A-OK :D
Best Regards :toast:
Largon you call 28 fps and lower a playable framerate ?
My GTS @ 580/1800 give the same FPS and thats are with a D950 @ 4,0Ghz
So i see no difference between my CPU and yours.
You have overclocked the 8800GTS to ? whats your clock now ?
Edit:
Sorry i forgot you running on a higher resolution.
Thats is that you have that fps of course.
Can you take some screenshots with 1280x1024 resolution
With the same clocks as you have set with the screenshots above here..
Thans already.
Snake_Eyes,
Key words: "almost playable"
Are you on 2x AA and using these tweaks?
Cause I am.
The card is @ gpu:702 / shader:1836 / ram:2088.
I'm retarted, I can't download it. I signed up, but it always asks me to buy something instead of allowing me to DL the beta. :(
I was going to see how well it runs w/ good DX9 hardware and a quad.
EDIT: I have a 1920x1200 monitor, so I can see how crappy it looks in HD. XD
Snake Eyes,
1280x1024, 2x AA [edit: edge antialiasing, not really 2x AA] + the proverbial "hidden extra eye candy" ->

In games a 3.6GHz Core 2 is 60-140% faster than a 4GHz P4.

Maybe you over-estimate P4 a bit?
