It's summertime the weather is hot, can't get a respectable overclock, so what's an overclocker to do? Well build a chiller of coarse!
Early results of my latest project.

cool cool, got pictures?
Is that CPU really only at 1.35V?
Amazing!
No pics, I'll try to get one up when I find my camera. I suck at photography.
CPU-Z reads voltage wrong, it should read 1.75
Nice clock with watercooling!
How fast would it go with aircooling?
Holy crap, my 5600+ does that on air with 1.575 set in the bios. You can put 1.75V into one of these things at all? I can only imagine how high this would go on cold water and a neked core. Im going to try neked core soon.... just lowering the Opteron HSF to mate properly to it. Unfortunately the Alpha 8150 is not compatible with AM2... couldn't even use a drill press to customize it, it has missing areas that are needed.
I really wish I had bought your motherboard, the Crosshair has a much better bios and voltage regulators.
On air @ 1.6 volts, 20 degrees C it will run @ 3400 MHz, but my room is @ 30C right now. It's just not stable over 3400 MHz on air.
Here's what it did on air

Nice chip you have there :)
What temp liquid on the chiller?
7950GT SLI?
Not bad clocks :)
Twisted a little harder

Your CPU does a stable 3.5GHz with aircooling? Let's see a 3DMArk06 compare URL?Quote:

To show that this CPU has some stability at these speeds

Max screen so far, 3735 MHz :)

You need to try a 6000+... 4g maybe? :D
Very NICE!
wow! 3.7ghz? awesome :yepp:
holy crap....rev f3 awesomeness right here! i guess these really do clock like beasts...
afireinside;
I have thought about a 6000, on paper they should be awesome, but in the wild the 5600's seem to clock better.
CCUABIDExORxDIE;
The F3's seem to have broken the 3.1 - 3.2 wall. This chip clocks really easy to 3.4, then wants volts to go higher.
later in the week, when I get some time, I'll see if I can get more!
That's a very nice overclock. Keep up the good work!
I`m glad to see someone trying chilled water on these- I was gonna try it myself and aim at 4GHz but id rather have a Spi and 3DM machine.
The higher multi of a 6000+ should allow ya to push the temps into coldbug range, with an x15 you`d only need 266 on the base HT speed.
Do you know where your chip coldbugs yet? :)
any coldbugs evident on this cpu or the 6000+ that anyone is aware of?
Very impressive :toast:
What temperature was your water chiller holding at?
Tom
Nice chip Flasker, hmmm $200AU for a 5600+ hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm should I or should'nt I :shakes:
Flasker,
Did you remove the heatspreader yet?
btw, I've got a pretty decent 6000+ in the other thread. Does 3557MHz aircooled for SPi1M with TT V1 cooler (+additional cool air). CPU idle temp is 24-26C according to Coretemp (cooler base/Heatspreader temp is around 21C idle) - under load (quick SPi1M run) it gets up to around 40C Coretemp / 28C cooler base/heatspreader. 1.5V.
I didnt see any gain going from 1.5V up to 1.6 or 1.65V - might require better cooling to see the voltage scaling though.
Damn! Thats some nice clocks.
If you're gonna remove the heatspreader you should know that some of the new A64 got the IHS glued on like the Intel cpu's
(you probably know about this, but anyways...)
Take a look at the part number in cpuz, cpuz reads "everything" as pc 6400
Whoa! Nice clocks bud. Man I really want to try a f3 core...
Ply
for 80 bucks you can get an f3 3800+ from newegg. just look for CZ in the part code.
foto system plz... ;)
3800 MHz barrier is broken, :D
had it higher, but the darn thing would freeze every time I tried to save the validation file.
Coldbugs @ 8C
http://valid.x86-secret.com/show_oc.php?id=210833
 what voltage? So close to 4 now.. above 0. that will be a milestone in coldbugged AMD times.
Who would thought a year ago that 3.8GHz will be possible on 90nm AMD X2 with above 0C temperatures? (No one! )
This is showing how good AMD/IBM DSL SOI can (compared to Intel bulk) be if tweaked properly! What a pita it takes so long to get where it is now...
I haven't had much time for benching lately, summertime and all, but I had some time last night so I fired up the chiller. Twisted my 5600+ as hard as I could.
I thought this thing coldbugged at 8C, but it was a BIOS issue that behaved like a coldbug. Anyway got the CPU to -5C @ idle, 2C @ load, best I can do with high v-core required to get the clocks. Measuring the temp of the top of the block I had -15C. This thing is like a toaster!
Won't be able to catch flytek, not with this chip, got a CPU-Z of 3892 MHz, but the file was corrupt, I'll try again.
Here's a SuperPi 32M run @ 3782 MHz
http://img444.imageshack.us/img444/7296/pi5jd2.png
Isn't this  new SuperPi WR on AMD X2??
  Congratz!!
Holy :banana::banana::banana:! I never imagined these kinds of speeds on a A64! I thought I was doing good with a 2.9ghz chip! (ram limited) this is just incredible!
How does a 3.6 A64 do against a 3.6 C2D in other benches, lie cinebench and encoding and higher resolution gaming?
 we need some F3 FX action!! darn coldbug
