Yay, another MM UFO Horizon!
-
Looking good
Very nice!, I have a few Mountain Mods cases my self.
got any plans for a Mod or 2?
-
Nice, looking good,
Quick question, with the addition of the 120.2 in the drive bay position, are you completely out of luck for loading hard drives under the mobo tray?
I am adding a second rad soon to mine, and have 4 HDD I need to keep internal, with 3 of the front bays taken up by a MM reservoir, and the other 3 being 2 fan controllers and an optical drive.
Nice work.

-
There is just something about a MM case that makes me feel warm & fuzzy inside! Looks great buddy.
-
Thanks guys! I did find while deciding how/where to route everything that the size of the case posed problems due to the fact that there are endless ways to route everything. It took me a while to build it because I could never settle on where I wanted everything to go. Other than that, everything went quite smoothly. I have no plans to mod the case at this time, but we're all XTREEEEEME!!!! here, so that could change at any time. ;)
Linflas, I have two Raptor X's attached to the 120.3 up top, and a pair of 320gb WD's under the mobo, right next to the power supply. If I wanted to, I could put another hdd between the Raptors, another one between the 320gb's, and another MM hard drive caddy next to the 320's under the mobo tray if I move the CPU loop pump, for a total of 9 internal hdd's.
-
Great Job!
Can you take some pictures of the placement of the pumps to rads?
-
Very Nice,
I really like the positioning of the Hard Drive at the top on the RAD. Do you have more than one there? Could you fit more or does it start to interfere with the board?
-
that is f***ing sweet. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! (off to sell TJ07)
-
SIG, I snapped a bunch but only these two came out well...

Loop order for the NB/GPU loop is as follows: DDC2 out -> upper 1230.3 inlet -> lower 120.3 outlet -> DD680i NB -> EK8800 #1 -> EK8800 #2 -> T-line -> DDC2 inlet
CPU loop order is: DDC2 out -> upper 120.2 inlet -> lower 120.2 outlet -> FuZion -> T-line -> DDC2 inlet
onekewlchip, I have two Raptor X's mounted to the radiator in that spot. I could fit another hdd between them if I want. I could also put another MM hdd bracket next to it, and run another three hdd's if I relocate the FuZion inlet tube and eliminate the Corsair Dominator ram fan.
-
The only thing I have left to do is determine whether or not it'd be worth it to replace the G12 in the CPU loop with something else. I've already had two employees of mine tell me that it looks silly to have the UV blue and what looks like straight distilled in the CPU loop. :P
-
I think i prefer Optimax 1203's to these Horizon's.
-
-
those ufo's sure are nice looking cases .. i just wish that they would be more affordable. :(
-
I'm lovin the sli+the x300 powering the 2nd monitor. Great build
-
Mankz, the reason I chose the Horizon is because I don't want to lay sideways on the floor to look at all the pretty tubes and stuff, plus the fact that the EK full cover water blocks weigh approximately 38.4 lbs a piece according to my calculations, and I felt it would be better to have the video cards mounted vertically instead of having 1300 dollars worth of video cards shear off at the mounting points due to the monstrous water blocks. :P
Solarfall, I had originally purchased a Stacker 830 to replace the trusty ol' TT Tsunami, but it didn't meet my WC needs, so I began looking at the TJ07 with window, which put me up at $330. By that point, $400 wasn't a big deal considering the awesomeness of MM cases.
flat-four, that lil bugger may just have 64mb of video ram, but it's awesome to be able to keep SLI enabled on the primary monitor while monitoring temps on the secondary while gaming. It works great! Just pop in an ATI card, plug the secondary into it, install the Catalyst driver, and bam, SLI dual monitor goodness!
I snapped a night time lights out blingy pic earlier, check it out! Heh, I really need to do something about that CPU loop... :P

How the heck did you manage to Run 8800GTX SLi and a X300 together :S.
Great looking loop and case!
I prefer TJ-07/09's though :p, Not that I can afford one, but anyways.
Youve kept the CPU Loop clear? Why? :/.

I'm thinking you meant 3.84lbs a piece!

That mobo is better than a lot of folk here think.

Oddly enough, same here.....
I still want to see the price go down though!!:p:

Ad1tya, I ran the X300 in the 3rd PCI Express slot between the 8800's. Since the center card is an ATI, the Nvidia driver doesn't try to take it over. I've heard of people trying to do the same thing with an Nvidia card in the center, only to find that the Nvidia driver is like HAL and won't let you configure anything. The CPU loop isn't clear, I'm running Pentosin G12 UV which turned out to not be very UV at all. :\
Aurora, I was just being facetious! :P
Thanks guys!!

I assume the x300 only has a passive sink on it? I love your creative solution to the SLI/Dual Monitor dilemma. I was wondering what was the best performing ATI card that runs with a passive heat sink so it'd fit in that slot next to a X-Fi Fatality.
-
Yup, just a small passive heatsink. You can kind of see it in the open top flashed picture, right underneath the SLI logo on the bridge. It barely clears the sound card, but it does clear. The X300 isn't much of a performer, but it's PCI Express, passively cooled, and it has a DVI connection. Works great for what I need it to do. Even Ultramon's smart taskbar works!

Well looks like I'm putting in another newegg purchase! Thanks for the tip. I can't believe I never thought of that. Do you have a X-Fi card in the adjacent slot? I'd like to make sure that my fatality card doesn't interfere with the x300.
-
No problem! I have an X-Fi XtremeMusic, but the Fatality shouldn't really be different at all. Mine is a 64MB X300 out of a Dell Optiplex that I was able to acquire from work. The 128MB X300SE version on Newegg doesn't seem to be much different width-wise.
Here's a pic I just snapped for ya:
http://img19.imageshack.us/img19/9819/img0536mk1.jpg
As you can see, there's enough clearance between the X300's heatsink and the X-Fi card in front of it. An alternative which should work just as well would be to toss a PCI Express x1 card in the slot closest to the CPU if you ever want to run a Physics card. That will probably be what I do if I ever decide that a Physics card is worth it in the future. I hope I was able to help!

Thanks for the pics. I wasn't sure it'd fit but considering we have almost the exact same build, I'm going to place the order for the X300 right now.

Hey RX, do you have any issues at all with the card and the auto adjustment feature?
I just read the reviews on newegg and two people reported the problem when using the card for their second monitor: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814121538
-
ranker, I haven't had any problems with auto adjust, nor have I ever seen that problem at work. It seems like that one guy had problems with it, but for 36 bucks, it's worth a shot!

Thanks. I'm just a little cautious as I've never used mixed companies before in a build. I've done 3 video card builds for 6 monitor setups but never tried to incorporate a Nvidia SLI build with an ATI card for a 2nd monitor.
Been using dual monitors with 8800GTX's and hating the fact that I have to disable SLI to run them.
Anyhow, do you have any issues with games on recognizing which card/monitor to use?
Any driver issues, system instabilities? Did you install the driver only for either/both cards or did you install the whole control panel for either/both cards?
-
Sweet build . . .I think I have seen a MM case or two before in person . . .think that is what they were. Only thing I would say is to throw some blue Yate Loons on thar for extra blue blingy. . .also get that fella Ben from MOuntain MOdz to custom cut u some sexy fan grillz of ur own design . . .does not cost alot but adds tons of blingage
-
ranker, it works a hell of a lot better than I expected it to. I fully expected to have all kinds of issues requiring several reinstallations of drivers and stuff, but I simply installed the card and the driver, and poof, it worked. Games start on the primary monitor in fullscreen mode. I installed the ATI control panel, and it worked fine. You just get the little dropdown box in XP desktop properties, and monitor 1 points the GTX's, monitor 2 points to the ATI. No problems whatsoever.
Thanks Darth, feels good to have someone with an absolutely insane-o case like yours tell me my stuff looks good. :) I thought about the LED fans, but I wanted to go for a "speakeasy" type look if ya know what I mean... All business outside, party on the inside! Ooooiii ooooiiii!!! :P That's why I went with the all black grills/fans/ case look, with the option of having UV craziness inside that I can switch on/off. The big thing also is that the wife approves! :) It's hard to have a big ol' flashing disco party cube in the middle of the living room when the wife is lurking. It'll just end up with a doily on it or something. :P

wive's always say to go big and black instead . . .arggg.

There you are!! I was waiting for you to chime in! :P We had some dialogue back when I decided to go with a Horizon, and I was wondering where the heck you were. :P Thanks for the kudos! Your new setup is quite "pimpish" as well. :)
