Thermaltake Bigwater 745 (56k = not happy)

These are some pictures from a rig owned by a person on Crysis-Online. I haven't been able to find a lot of pictures of a Bigwater system eating itself, so here's some for everyone to able to look at.

Now, the only thing I haven't been able to help him out on is figuring out what the radiator interior is made of. Anybody happen to know?

What you got is corrosion from the alu flow meter, and your copper blocks.

no i think those are from the liquid used to stop corrosion between AL and Cu

I love the so-called "flow meter" (so-called because it doesn't measure a sausage).

Restriction added and nothing to show for in return... Yet another great idea :D

THERMALTAKE SUCKS!!!

1. i dont think he was using hydrx.

2. thermaltake comes with its own coolant, which i think he was using.

3. he was mixing copper and that looks really a lot like what alu looks like when its eatten. Look at sharka's post.

I <3 Danger Den myself. Used Koolance (early products), used Thermaltake. Never again. DD blocks NEVER have let me down in several builds. I will admit there are others I have not tried (EK, Swiftech) tho I have heard good things about them. If you find something that works well for you, stick with it.

i've got the Tt 745 cooling the ladies computer, keeping an overclocker 3800 at low 30s idle, mid 40s loaded, cleaned it out the other day, nothing wrong there, no corrosion so yay for us

Only caught this thread as it was linked in another. Sorry to hear that. Does Thermaltake offer any sort of warranty/guarantee on this product? How long has it been since he's purchased the product?

Multiple people on Newegg reviews have suggested that they have serious corrosion issues when using the Thermaltake solution that is included in the kit. When using better fluids, the problems goes away.

That's probably true, but then again, newegg reviewers aren't exactly the most tech savvy. :rofl:

with that sort of corrosion, probably been a while.
Tt Flowmeter with their pump is a joke...

Sad but true. However, these sort of people make up the majority of all newcomers to the WC'ing hobby. Thermaltake and fellow alu using companies should be taking more action or possibly a different course of action to prevent this sort of stuff from happening, ie going full copper.

I feel sorry for this guy as a quick scan of current prices put this kit around $150-$250.

Nah. They will go for the standard business practice. Give an incentive to the marketing people and leave things as they are.

Why fix it, when you can increase the bonuses of the marketing department instead?

Their cpu blocks suck big time. I had two of them crack and leak. Thermaltake H20 cooling sucks, sucks, sucks, sucks. Not even good for an absolute n00b. They should just stop making kits.

how does it suck? the one in my GFs running my dualCore overclocked from 2.4GHz to 3GHz, idle 29/32 load 45/50. yes it's not brilliant, but it works. but i never used the liquid from Tt. the block is in perfect shape.

For $150-250, most of us would expect it to work well, not just be functional. However, I ask you to take a step back and ask yourself, would this be the ideal setup within that price range? If not, then there's logically something wrong with it that needs to be addressed.

My friend had the older Bigwater. The cpu block's cover cracked and leaked water on his mobo and videocard. Both died :( He didn't tighten the plexi cover himself so it was probably a crappy quality plexi or something. That and the fact that there's a lot of people who have bought the Bigwater and the pump has died or some other part has failed. Personally I wouldn't recommend TT watercooling stuff to anybody.

so are you guys saying that the Thermaltake Coolant did this ? hmm

I have couple spare bottles and was going to use it in my next loop (not TT mind you)

haha yummy Alien attack :P I know TT Watercooling is the worst ive ever seen :(

i probably wouldn't recommend Tt to anyone either, nor any other pre-made kit, it's just as easy to build a HQ custom kit, for a bit more money

although i can see the point in such things as the Corsair Nautilus500, as long as it's well put together

Pre-maid kits such as kits from Swiftech/Corsair are in a whole different class than TT...

Not to mention a top notch aircooler would be less expensive, and probably cool better too.

Well the Nautilus is actually a high quality WC kit, one I'd definitely buy for a secondary machine, because I really don't have another $300 to do a second custom loop. ;)

from that first picture looks like /you/ tightened the barbs in too tight.
those easy fit barbs are horendous though, really hate them.

think my big water came to £75($150), cheaper than the nautilus and came out earlier.
only trouble with the nautilus is, anything goes wrong and you're pretty scuppered :S

Sorry but I hate when I post being helpful only to have people not bother to read what I posted.

I had TWO of those blocks crack . . .on different rigs. The blocks cracked after six months to a year of use. Not from overtightening, I am sure of that. TT uses way to thin acrylic . . .that is the problem. Compare to a Danger Den block.

The thing that pisses me off is that both times the leak soaked GPUS that were top of the line at the time (Geforce 7800s). Both cards were salvagable but it really does piss u off if you know what I mean. I am just trying to save you the same headache bro. Better to be proactive.
