Thanks mascaras. I waited for these so long, and installed right away, so didn't have time for other links :D
Seems OK, maybe a bit faster than 7.4
i see next to no mention of anything to do with the 2900XT. I think all who waited for these so called magical drivers are going to be sorely disappointed.
ok
Not the most accurate test but on a
x2 3800
I've noticed a 10%+ increase in css
and a 20% increase in cod2 (with burgundy no longer being 30 fps at points - hitting 200+ in dx7 at the same point).
very good performance and the graphics are clearer.
sweet release, last day of the month too...
just to add in dx9, full settings 1024 by 768 it is substantially quicker. Can't tell you aany approximations but it is far far better
performence is far better in css.:banana::banana::banana:e fog still there. Makes matches impossible at distance
any reason to update as a 1900xt user?
Pushin 247.20 in css stress test, they must have done something....
300 points more in 3DMark05!! In Vista! Previous best was 9800.
Now 10100 points.
WTF, i just updated to this driver and now Vista is dimming my LCD panel and it looks very dull... Grrrr, i hate vista some days...
i just uninstalled and the brightness and color came back. Then i tried again from scratch and once again my LCD goes dim and washed out. Anyone have any help?
UPDATE: Just went back to 7.4 and all is well again. BOO 7.5!!!
Ya, know I hate to be negative but I am not installing these drivers until I see allot of positive feedback at DriverHeaven (sigh) I am growing quite tired of the bullsh@t with these ATI drivers I mean for crist sakes I am still using 7.1 obviously for very good reasons and ATI drivers scare me anymore because of the repeted let downs ! Well perhaps something positive will come from these drivers and I can upgrade without issue and not be forced to go back to 7.1... eck...I grow tired of this!!!!
Try 7.5's without CCC. I've completely stopped using CCC since 7.2, its not worth the hit-or-miss 50% chance of it actually working...
Thanks for the details mascaras.
Come on, show me a flood of 2900xt comparisons!!!!!!!
Wowzers. x1900XTX, with 7.3 max settings i got 125fps in CSS stress test.
Now, same thing, maxxed settings no AI, HQ AF, 159FPS. Thats insanity.
And yes it seems they have improved the quality of their filtering (or so it appears).

Check the writing on the gun, the back of the gun and the tips. And you can see, 30FPS more in the exact same situation. EDIT: nm you cant see I cropped it out.
@ perkam "And the grasshopper's rejoiced and were silent"
The new drivers seem to have given me a slight improvement in 3Dmark scores across the board. Still not convinced I like the CCC part of the package however.
Vista will dim your screen after boot because you should see the UAC come up but it dosnt, guessing vista bug. Reboot the PC and everything will be fine, to me it only happend twice also first time it went away by it self after 30 sec.
CORRECTION: Its a different problem to before tried editing contrast/birghtness but dosnt work.
It screwed up my OpgenGL games at 1680x1050.... I get a grey screen on the left half and the game on the right...
Thanks Ati... you bunch of.... [censored]
...so does it fix aa probs genrally??? like in hl2 and bf2142? (with x2900xt)
well, i guess this is it for me and ati
@ 7.5, same image scaling/improper rez problems as before, ive had it!
7.1 still the last one that 1920x1080 rez worx properly for me
deeply regret not getting the 8800GTX when released :(
So the 7.1 do support propper scaling... as in not stretching the image to panel size..??
7.1 supports proper scaling.. as in scaling image to full panel size
7.2, 7.3, 7.4, 7.5: @ centered timings/ @ full panel size just doesnt work
depending on the drivers, if its not the centered timings issue, its 4:3 rez streched to 16:9 but of course thats usually fixed with the help of ccc by adding 1080p support
6.6beta were the last drivers that 1920x1080 ever worked properly without ccc
either someone very smart/bright @ ati is messing up the drivers or its done intentionally for whatever reason/s this has been going on ever since the wonderful release of 6.6final
its not the displays/video cards, its the unacceptable drivers
So let me get this straight... a 1280x1024 game always gets stretched to 1680x1050 on my Samsung 225BW...
I can solve this by using the 7.1 cats or add the 1080p support...?
I don't use CCC but ATT....
the way that sounds to me is that since you're doing a 4:3 game it will always get stretched to 16:9 depending on your monitor settings..
i just wanna clarify the 2 issues on 1080p rez,
stuck @ centered timings - full panel size no worky
or
4:3 and 16:9 rez stretched - usually fixed via ccc by adding 1080p support *sigh* when the video card/display surely supports 1080p
That's exactly what's happening..... and I know my monitor supports centered timings yet the image/game always gets stretched to full panel size instead of adding the black bars left and right...
ive just tried a game @ 4:3
display aspect settings,
@ native - 4:3 proper image (black bars left/right)
@ full - 4:3 stretched image
@ 7.1 cats
which drivers u using?
I'm using 7.3 now... 7.4 gives me BSOD's and 7.5 screws up all my OGL games... :(
Gonna give the 7.1 a go later on...
x1900xt512 always at stock speed love the 7.x drivers.
7.1 fine
7.2 fine
7.3 nice
7.4 great
7.5 trying now ^^
The 7.1 still stretches the screen..... sigh.....
for problems with colors in 7.5:
advanced catalyst control center/color/ 2 new modes of color -> pc standard (new whitty colors) & microsoft MCE (normal)
i was on 7.4, today i used the 7.5 for css 2-3 hours.
=> incredible more fast :D
thx AMD
No, it's definitely there... Take a good long look at the wall, see the lines? On 7.3 it's much sharper and more defined than on 7.5. :yepp:
If you still have problems seeing it, I can bust out photoshop and circle it, but it's clear as day and you shouldn't have a problem seeing it on your own.
Uhh what a nightmare with these drivers...
1. Steam said I cant get the free game...why wtf? that link didnt show me a damn thing.
2. When I rebooted after I installed the drivers (no CCC, uninstalled ATT prior) when it goes into windows, my monitor repeatedly loses its signal and turns on again while not showing anything but a black screen. I know its booting into windows b/c I hear my start up theme...
WTF?
Uinstalled, had windows search out a driver (8.36). tried to upgrade, said missing >INF file. What gives? Grrrrrr.
Back to 7.4s, works fine!
If you have dual dvi's on your graphics card try changing from the one to the other, i also lost signal and this solved the problem.
Anyone have Crossfire working with these Cats? With my X1800XT Crossfire setup and 7.5 Cats, the Enable Crossfire button no longer appears
hey jas, did switching to the other DVI port make a difference? Mine went black too.
I've been having a hell of a time with the 7.5 release. 7.4 is fine for me.
Ryan
I rolled back to the 7.4's, had issues with older games NOT running at all... Condition Zero, Breakthrough, ect....
More fine Craftsmanship from ATI gents?
anyone know how to do the b&w fix without having CCC installed?
I use ATT, that faded washed out screen is quite annoying.
I keep getting this MOM.Implementation error on my friend's computer (I built it for him and take care of it under my own warranty):
http://support.ati.com/ics/support/d...estionID=26494
I like ATI's reply to the issue. We know about it, and we'll get back to you. :p:
It doesn't seem to be affecting gameplay or crashing though, just on initial bootup. My friend said WoW looks better (upgraded him from from like 6.2 or something) so that's good.
that is result of an installation error. that driver needs to be un-installed, a previous verion go in first, and then latest version ;)
So you're saying to install 7.5 on top of say 7.1 which doesn't have the error per ATIs site? I thought you had to absolutely uninstall everything driver related to upgrade the drivers? I've been following this guide (sans the unused device removal):
http://www.tweaktown.com/guides/569/...moval_cleanup/
Good? Yes/no?
I usually go to safe mode and use driver cleaner and registry mechanic to remove ati entries from the registry before installing the next version of Cat.
What is this for BS? I installed the new drivers, rebooted and then my screen says: Out of frequency or something. Reinstalled and still got the same :( Whats up with this stupid msi x1950pro, on higher then 6.13 I cannot overclock memory and 7.5 won't load windows... Yes I tried safemode to change Hz, but its on 60Hz, which is perfectly normal for my 19" widescreen...
Good? I suppose. It's what I myself do...however...that is more directed at full component replacement...
Catalyst requires removal of CCC, then driver, then other stuff(WDM, etc, AVIVO), then registry removal(I do not do this unless downgrading, upgrade seems fine, as it will be aware of old keys that must be replaced), and then install new driver.
ATI offers "upgrade" option in install w/ Vista...sorts out alot of these issues...however I still find that I remove driver first, using catalyst uninstall manager(talking vista here), and then install new package.
;)
Switching DVI ports didnt work.
Now I cant get them installed saying its missing the >INF file. I re DL it, smae thing.....
7.5s just arent for me I suppose.
same story here jas... 7.4 is happy as can be.
Ryan
man i didnt realize im still on 6.11 and it has no bugs for me, looks like im staying with them too. at least until i have an issue or there really is some huge performance difference.
I swear I have no idea what you guys are doing wrong.
I have used ati cats from way back in they day, from cats 3.x and I never EVER had a problem with the installation, and never did I ever have to revert to older drivers (unless I was doing driver benches). What people cannot get right, I cannot comprehend. This was the case with 9500/9800/x800/x1800/x1900 cards.
And I update with almost every driver revision.
Same, runs great, see a few minor differences in FPS and IQ which made the install worthwhile.
Whenever my video card gets stressed with processing I get this weird slow down on my audio player, but I haven't even tested to make sure this is the issue. Just noticed it happening recently.
Few solutions that might help you to resolve some problems guys. Straight from ATI tech support. Don't know if its same for Cat 7.5 - we still testing. And please always install the driver in default folder.
A known issue is the MOM.Implementation error appearing when booting the system up:
This error can be solved by uninstalling Catalyst Control Center through the Control Panel and downloading only it from the ATI
website (Individual driver download packages link).
During Catalyst installation the “Driver Install: the INF File was not found” message may appear.
In that case display drivers need to be manually installed by following this procedure:
1) click on Start, Control Panel, then Device Manager 2) right-click to the Display adapter entitled Radeon… and click on Update Driver Software… 3) Select Browse my computer for driver software and browse to the installation folder, then support, then open the folder containing the drivers, then Packages, Drivers, Display and choose LH_INF. For example in the case of Catalyst 7.4 drivers for Vista 32-bit Edition the URL will be: C:\ATI\SUPPORT\7-4_vista32_dd_ccc_enu_44985\Packages\Drivers\Displa y\LH_INF
Same here - always worked right. I think they have overclocked beyond stability.
Did anybody try to remove old catalyst prior to installation, and remove excessive overclock for installation time?
not overclocked. please quit insulting our intelligence.
Ryan
I'll let it go THIS time. ;)
There is an issue with this driver. A fresh install of vista 64 with updates installed, and nothing else, the driver should be smooth as butter.
Ryan
It is working fine for me under WinXP x64 and 1950pro. The only let down is that I can't download free HL: Lost Coast and DM from Steam... it's no go on x64
Question about all this - those of you having trouble, what OS are you running, XP or Vista, and which version, 32bit or 64bit?
So it would seem that 64 bit has better drivers now lol!
Vista32 here with an X1959XTX and had no probs with 7.5
Improved performance slightly I think.
Shame I had to change the colours in CCC though.
Vista Home Premium 64 bit is having PROBLEMS. It will run at resolutions lower than my native, but not my native (1440x900)
Ryan
No issues on my 64-bit Ultimate edition.
My Cats are working perfectly, have you tried uninstalling them restarting them and installing them again??
I tried twice, including a fresh install of Vista, and on the 3rd time I said screw it, and did the 7.4's, and they work. 7.5 isn't for me. They have resolution problems at 1440x900
Ryan
