wow dude congrats on the insane FSB.. :toast: damn seems like i have to ditch my evga and get myself some p35 love :D
-
Yea; splendid work bro! That P5K is a gem of motherboard, no doubt about it! :D
-
what a FSB.. :) very nice E6600 also.. :D
congratz.. :woot:

Holly sh1t
Really nice
Could you post some bios screens
-
OMG :toast:
AWESOME mobo, I dont think P5K could reach 600+ so easy
-
Great work boby
P5K ownage
-
Thank ALL
I add photographs and benchs later :) , I make a topic presentation on the range P35 ;)
I have to recover the bios 0407 beta for the P5K and the 0307 on the P5K deluxe (available on my ftp from here a few minutes)

Congratz man

Very nice indeed. The more I see of these the more I want one.
-
Very, very nice board and great ram and CPU aswell !!
Looks like the issue with C2D CPUs showing weird behaviour on non stock multi is gone with this generation of boards.
Would be interesting to see more board/cpu combos.
Maybe you are just lucky and you received a godlike board :)
-
Overclocking keeps getting better and better with Intel's platform, impressive.
-
-
Very impressive! :D I'm speechless buddy...
-
Boble, can you post the link of the eshop where u bought it?
The board doesnt squeel under load, right?
-
Nice results you have there. I came close to that 1M run on my 975 chipset with my E6600 running 9x400. Was hoping these would do better. I need to look over the other benchmarks more. This may be worth getting.
-
wow!!!!!!   very good board and cpu you have there. have you hit the limit of the board or cpu yet?
:toast:
-
excellent. even memory latencies are starting to look good again once you hit 600fsb

My cpu has tested max 641 with the caskade (-95°) and motherboard i don't know for the moment
The nearest week end , i test with LN2 for found the limit  :D
I test 2xE6600 L709Axxx today for sell for pretested for my site (i test one yesterday and 554mhz max fsb at 12° Liquid and 545mhz at 29° liquid)

yes its exact :D , yesterday I had this noisy during the test in full of one of the L709A (463x8)
I found the Vdroop because same option damper , this P5K much droop :(
1.5v bios = 1.4v full :(
Now : 1.5v bios = 1.48v full , i prefer :D

NOOOO! When will the noisy boards stop?

I thought the damper option caused it to not droop?

i think only the p5k deluxe has that option. But this the greatest bang for the buck so far

the option exists on P5K vanilla but the activated or not, no change ;) same droop

I guess the Gigabyte boards are still in the race for me then... The vdamper option would've sealed the deal for me.

:( This sucks. On p5k deluxe somebody reported the bios option worked.
oh well, pencil mod is easy :)

Holy bananas!
Nice board and cpu/ram combo mate.
Do you have pics of that setup?
Cheers!

nice clocks you got there boblemagnifique ...
just pay attention on your PSU's 12V, i can read there 9V. Its pretty down ;)
-
Good! :D This E6600 is very nice! :D

what vcore can you get on this board and do have you scene a mod for vcore yet
nice clocks and great looking system, makes me wanna try one out

What is the current resistance of that resistor, after the pencil mod?
And very good results sofar :D
-
Holy sheet! I'm going to buy one right away! Thanks for the review!
EDIT: I just bought it here ExcaliburPC.com
$146 + shipping + tax
Came out to be around $167 for me (California)

I might just sell my problematic P5B-Plus and get this thing. The results in this thread make it look like the new cheapo champ...

But could you measure it?
And I can find somebody who hasnīt done the mod yet, who can measure the original resistance.

Anyone able to provide memory latency and bandwidth at 500fsb 1:1 4-4-4 AND static read on the fastest setting allowed AND transaction booster enabled? Really curious if transaction booster affects latency
-
     that's so good
fantastic
that CPU is a monster
-
You know what's funny...I was tallying up all the parts I've bought for my new build and then it hit me...the motherboard was the single most expensive component in my new rig, lol.
That's pretty crazy considering I got the Vanilla P5K...since when did mobos become so expensive. Well, to be fair I bought an E4300, so I guess otherwise my CPU would have beat the motherboard.
-
I heard these board support 1T command rate, is it true?
-

not Vanilla one yet
but it seems from one member's testing it is impossible to reach any decent clocks on 1T
-
So only the Deluxe version support T1? :(
-
at the time being. it'll probably be introduced in a later bios. you can take apart the vanilla's bios with amibcp or something and see if you find something interesting.
-
Great job
But...what p5k do you use??

Thanks

:( no 1T...oh well, hopefully it'll come in time.
I only just now realized that this board doesn't really support raid. I mean, technically it says the Jmicron controller supports SATA raid, but it only has one internal SATA port, lol. So I guess the only way to run RAID it to raid one external and one internal drive?

Can you tell me if max vcore is the same as Deluxe at 1.7v?

It works fine on my deluxe. Less than 10mv droop under orthos load
-
How much is the lack of 8-phase power going to hurt the P5K Vanilla? That's the only thing keeping me from buying the board. I don't need all of the crap on the Deluxe.
-
Driving a lot of vcore might worry me. But it shouldn't limit overclock that much with sane voltages. Possibly even other aspects of the board may limit it. That said, slapping some heatsinks on the mosfets may get you where you want to go, if it indeed does limit you.
-
I don't know if it has been posted and I missed it, but what is the max Vdimm for this mobo right out of the box?
And what about the Deluxe version?
-

IMO, it is going to be the max overclock that is going to be afected.

vdimm is 2.50 and vcore is 1.7. Mine undervolts like a mofo, .10 and vdroop .08...
I like the board alot but definitely not on par with the deluxe voltage wise. gonna do the vdroop pencil mod right now and see how she goes. Memory clocking is really good and overall I like the board alot. Considering the price this thing will be a great bargain with a few volt mods. I'd say watch for a couple more weeks to see what people come up with. Definitely the board to buy if you don't need the bells and whistles of the deluxe and the voltage can be sorted...
-
Thanks for the quick reply.
I'm trying to sit on my hands and not rush out and get a board and instead, do as you have suggested, but dang is it hard!
I really don't need all the fluff stuff, I just want a board to play around with that will allow me to clock the memory well and these P35 based boards seem to do that very well. It is either one of these or the DFI Infinity 965-S.
I understand that one has just a tad more voltage available for the rams. :D
-
Pencil mod does wonders... :) Under volts to about .03 now and droop is about .02. That's about how my deluxe ran and making life a bit easier now.
Thanks boblemagnifique for posting that up...
Also, bios 0414 vdimm goes to 2.55...perty sure shipping bios 0202 was 2.50.

Well, I'm on air so I doubt I could come close to theoretical maxes anyway. The pencil mod is easy. Hopefully this thing does well with quads. If so, I'll buy one at the end of the summer.
EDIT: Looks like it will handle quads fine from this post:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...1&postcount=52
Now for Penryn confirmation :)
-
Does anybody know what CPU PLL voltage and the CPU Voltage reference is?

i always cringe when i see water chilled or phase cooler slapped onto the cpu...i've always been an air cooled user...maybe some day i will adventure into water cooling.:)
the pencil mod appears to be the trick to make this a very good board for the price.
-
Could someone who has dpne the pencil mod post a picture and a short description? I've never done one before but the vdroop on mine is driving me nutty so I think I'll give it a try.

Page 2, post 31...
Basically you draw a thin line from end to end where he has it hilighted. Doesn't take much. And it's alot smaller than it looks in the picture :D
-
thanks, hadn't had a chance to read the whole thread yet. I'll post some results tomorrow afternoon.
-
P5K @ 600+ FSB! WOW! Excelent Intel/Asus Job
-
I just did the pencil mod. Originally in CPU-Z, I was getting 1.400V while bios was set to 1.50volts.
After the pencil mod, CPU-Z will not show a voltage higher than 1.213V. Very strange. I know of no other program that would read the voltage properly. The Asus probe always read at 1.49 or 1.5V and doesnt seem to ever change. The problem is, it should read 1.10volts because I'm managing my clock speeds with CrystalCPUID which sets my chip to run at 6x400@1.10volts at minimal loads, 8x400@1.30volts at medium loads, and 9x400@1.50 at heavy loads. CPU-Z will detect the 1.10 volts but fail to show anything above 1.213v.
Edit: Oh btw, I like this motherboard much more than the Gigabyte DS3 rev 3.3! I bought the DS3 around 3 months ago and it died on me so I replaced it with the ASUS. The DS3 gave me tons of headaches and was plagued with blackscreen issues when overclocking that required manually flashing the bios. I hope the Asus P5K won't give me those. As of now, every single benchmark I've done in Everest Ultimate Edition at 9x400mhz shows that the ASUS P5K is faster than the Gigabyte DS3 :-)
And does anybody know how I can see the north bridge temperature on this board?
-
I just did the pencil mod aswell and am very happy.
Original bios 1.45, idle in windows 1.4, load in windows 1.36
now bios 1.45, idle in windows 1.43, load in windows 1.43
I am very pleased with the results of my first pencil mod. I too am interested in a way to find NB temperatures. Now that my vdroop problemn is fixed I can do some more max fsb testing tonight. I'll post some results tuesday.
