100% Beast under 100$ Pentium E2160

Hello all,

It seems to me i never seen any thread claiming this Cpu is really a (dual core) toy, so i created this one to show it to you.

I think this one is not a gem because of FSB bug around 400Mhz, but it should be some anywere, and it's not so expensive to chase it :D

Here are the results with aircooling, prime stability was ok @3.4Ghz with 1.55 in bios.

M/b : Asus P5K Deluxe wifi
Cooling : Asus silent square
Rams : OCZ PC8500 SLI EPP

Is this chip for sale on the retail market yet? I haven't heard of it before :confused:

they're being sold as core 2 duo e2140/50/60 down here in australia.

Well... no SSE4 would surelly hurt its performance...

But still pretty nice to get 3.4G out of a 1.8G chip!

makes me wonder if i should have held out instead of getting my e4300

Since when has Core2 had SSE4? That's not till penryn. These are entry level processors sitting between the Conroe-L (Celeron 430/440) and the E4300

Did You try this cpu with more than air cooling ? Any more of 400MHz, or FSB wall ?


I have one E2140 :) I'm try this chip on cascade for fun :D

I also want to get one of these CPUs as soon as they become available. I'm just not sure which one to get: E2140 or E2160. I'd go for the cheaper E2140 but I'm worried about the FSB wall. :confused:

My 2140 does 3.2Ghz (100% OC) at 1.375 bios vcore - stable. It also FSB bugs at exactly 407 FSB. Will the E4300 pin mod work on this cpu?

anyone know a way around this FSB wall? I will attempt a pin mod tomorrow if there are no other solutions... Seems to be a problem with alot of 200fsb cpu's.

Can it do Orthos for more than at least an hour small ffts on air?

Great. E2140 costs just about US$15 more than X2 Brisbane 3600+.

Nice chip! I was looking at getting an E6420 or E6600, but now these are so cheap! Core 2 power for £60! (overclockers.co.uk have them in stock and are selling them). What I can't help saying is that smaller cache may cause a few hits, but for that price yu can't go wrong :)

Sweet chip...I thought I was doing great with my E4300 @ 3.2GHz 1.312v stock cooling...but with these things barely more then half the price it really makes me think. :rolleyes:

What is the secret for getting a high fsb like that? Im at 375fsb x 8 66'c running orthos small FFTs.

P35 + ddr3 ;)

I'll be interested when they have a core2 with virtualization at that price.

What is the big difference between this and a Brisbane ?

Lets see it costs $30 more, it performs 15-20% better on clock per clock basis and seems to overclock a bit better (3.2-3.5 on air rather than 2.9-3.1 on the Brisbanes). So a lot of big differences.

I can't get the FSB of this chip to 400MHz. I've dropped the multi to 6x. But can't seem to get there.

I've got a P35-DS3P with Patriot PC8500. Is it the CPU or is something up with the mobo. I can run 9x 390 at 1.5v.

Any ideas?

This is simply FSB wall - I had it on my E2140 with almost exactly 401 FSB, 395 FSB would pass Orthos...

Personally I liked the E2160 more rather than E2140. Last one's multi is a bit too low for serious oc and if it tops out @400 FSB you're f*cked.
Anyway still fun thoose little suckers - think I might get one for a CPUz percentage contest during an OC party here in germany :)

A very reasonably priced cpu for what you can get out of it. Wouldn't mind getting me one of them :)
