Your Welcome :)
Many thanks!
indeed many thanks.
Getting the DX9 one :stick: Thanks Microsoft! Need to reformat with vista ASAP.

So it shows that I made a good choice on the 320MB for the price, for my setup at least. I think the fire was tacky.
I did the DX10 version on 8800GTS (640mb), 158.43, Vista 64-bit, and E6600 @ 3.6

Edit: Okay these new drivers have some issue with overclocking for me. And it doesnt seem to scale much higher with overclock settings at 650/900. And couldnt get fraps or printscreen to work with fullscreen so I had to use window snipe.
Going to try the DX9 version and DX10 versions with an 8800GTS 320MB when it gets here on Friday, should be interesting to see the differences.

Does DX10 look that much better? Pics would be nice :)
I've been having similar issues with a few other games at times also so I wasn't sure.
Does this mean we have something that we can actually temporay bench on for 8800s or r600s dx10 capabilities? (until 3dmarks 07 comes)
:woot:
Not sure. In the other news thread about this game being benched w/r600 and 8800gtx, the site said the nVidia drivers have been optimized for this game and the AMD/ATi drivers were still... well, not really optimized for anything \=
HD2900XT, Q6600, 4GB PC6400
DEFAULT SETTINGS, 8.36 driver, DX9 version
SNOW: 82
CAVE: 76
Guys I am noticing a HUGE PATTERN HERE. If I go into the PC Settings and change anything, even lower shadows or put shadow resolution on low I LOSE FPS. I have tried this with multiple settings and with the exception of resolution, I LOST FPS by lowering the graphics options(i.e. shadows, motion blur, hdr).
So I think that there is defiantly something fishy going on with the drivers.
ohh those 2900xt numbers look pretty good there. i am going to try the dx9 version on my 7900gt:D lets see what happens:D
HD2900XT, Q6600, 4GB PC6400
DEFAULT SETTINGS, 8.37 driver, DX9 version
SNOW: 80
CAVE: 74
Funny how this card is faster @ differnt test than nV...
CPU @ stock too, btw.
OC'ed GPU ONLY @ 850/1000
SNOW: 90
CAVE: 76
Seems "CAVE" test is cpu limited. More fun to be had later.
can anyone try DX10 .. im getting only 56fps snow DX10 everything at default with GTS @ 660/1000, E6600 , 4GB .. it was playable , but certainly not fast
oh i use Vista x64 btw ....
I'm using Vista32, and there are textures and such missing from my DX10 version. Maybe i'll try to re-download, but I can already confirm that the performance is not as stellar as DX9 version, and considering the source of the file(nzone), frankly, I'm not surprised.
It's not as fast as X1950crossfire @ stock, but 850/1000 compares well, with what, to me, seems like better image quality, mainly due to a more consistent framerate, when it comes to games.
i dont wanna dl DX9 ... again ... and the performance is bad on DX10 ... its playable at stock 1280x720 4xAA ... and such.. in fact i just beat the cave mission, but im getting some crappy performance on performance test .... with 158.43 ... lol at that legit reivew
i was under the impression that DX10 suppose to be faster than DX9 .. so much for that ATI slide from HardOCP last year ....
Mine is similar to yours. With everything max the frame rate gets hit hard. The driver doesn't seem to like anything over 660/1000 as well.
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...74&postcount=7
which one was the 1st demo .. snow or cave??
can someone with a dx10 card run both the dx9 and dx10 demo with the same settings and clock speeds and post results?
this to see how much extra performence dx10 gives over dx9.
vista is installed.
DX9 and DX10 versions installed.
both tested.
heres the early results.
1360 x 760 (or something like that)
all options maxed out.
PC used.
Quad Core 6600 at 9 x 400 = 3.6 ghz.
Corsair 8888 ram, at 1000 mhz, cas 4-4-4-8.
P5B deluxe.
8800 GTX, heavily modified to run 650/2100 mhz, with a 1566 mhz shader clock.
Vista Ultimate 32.
DX9 - snow = 52 FPS - Cave = 62FPS (cant be right, since verticle sync is on, but whatever)
DX10 - snow = 27 FPS - Cave = 31 FPS.
all settings the same from one game version to the next.
basically, you lose half your frame rate by using the DX10 version.
still testing....
ahh yes i jsut ran snow . btw my E6600 was @ 3.712GHz 412.5x9 not 3.6GHz lol , anyway GTS @ 660/1000
snow was 59
and @ kunaak
yes thata pretty much what i got... with DX10 everything mexed out just gave me horrible fps ... unplayable
like i said i was under the impression that DX10 suppose to make games run faster .. lol ... what a bs
So Vista sucks and now we find out that DX10 also sucks :/
@Kunaak
what drivers are u using?
Hold On...
theres a little discovery that makes my earlier post invalid.
on the DX9 version of the game, shadow quality can only go up to Medium, and no Higher.
on the DX10 version, shadow quality can go up to High.
running shadow quality on high, easily cuts the frame rates in half, once you enable it.
when ran back to back, exact same settings (and this time, I double checked everything) the game seems to run pretty much the same from DX10 to DX9.
its the Shadow Quality not being available to "High" in the DX9 version, that messed me up.
yes shadow quality kills fps A LOT !! and yes DX9 doesnt have anything abovce medium ...
i think its a DX10 only feature , maybe DX10 has larger shadow effect or something
dx 10 sucks if the oc'ed gtx doesn't get decent frame rates :slapass: gotta wait for an official title
read my post again.
This game is definatly dual core enabled.
maybe more...

thats my CPU load logs while letting the benchmark run for 2 passes.
dx9 locks up for me ...tried sli and non sli
1600x1200 4x aa, trilinear textures, other settings default.
single 8800gts 640----> around 30+ fps average....up to 40+
i like the way human/player movement is handled...pity i cant play it atm....
lots of exploding bugs
Seeing those results, I'm kinda glad I didn't buy a DX10 card yet. Hopefully the 8900GTX and the HD2950XTX will produce much better results at max settings in DX10...
kunaak how did u monitor CPU load ?? and got those numbers??
DX10 mode has soft shadows, if you enable that your performance drops by 50%. Other than that they are supposedly (according to a German magazine) to be equal in how they look (maybe DX10 has more stuff that you can turn on or off, but max DX9 quality is equal to DX10 quality if you set the settings right).
I couldn't get it to extract...says not enough HD space. haha.
Some benches (some are less then ideal when it comes to specs, but i'll take what i can get):
That's on a 8600 GT.Quote:
I ran the performance test in the demo with the same config in the game as the legit review here: http://www.legitreviews.com/article/505/3/ to compare to the gtx and my result is : Snow: 24FPS , Cave 20FPS. Running at 1280x720. Comparing it to the HD2900XT its almost the same lawl. I will run it overclock my GT as the same clock speed as the GTS to check the difference. I play ingame and its not playable really with those fps, i tried withou the 4x Filter, its much better and i was able to play the game withou big lag. But still not really smooth and graphically not really good, but the physic and movement are really insane. I don't think so a 8600GT GTS will be okay to play dx10 with good graphic.
That last one if MultiGPU, but the dude has it off, and it appears it SLI doesn't work in Lost Planet.Quote:
I just finished downloading, took forever wouldn't go over 60K..., servers must be flooded.
The graphics are a step above DX9 thats for sure.

To top if all off: a nice DX9, DX10, X-BOX 360 comparison
Quote:
Running it in 720p output to my HDTV, looks pretty much the same as the 360 version and after tring both DX9 and DX10 versions, the DX9 version runs substantially faster, averaging over 50fps for both tests at default settings (4x AA, medium HDR etc). With antialiasing it does look slightly better then the 360 version I guess but there is not a huge amount in it. Certainly one of, if not the, best looking PC game out there atm. I was using a wired 360 pad to play and the controls were identical to the 360. Well worth a try.
Ok guys trouble here.............when i start the game it get's me an error message saying that ''could not start cause file XINPUT1_3.dll is missing''.
I have downloaded the demo three times from different servers and changed from 158.18 to 158.43 but no go.Vista Home Premiun x64 here.
Any inputs?:(
http://www.capcom.com/BBS/showthread...=XINPUT1_3.dll
The 160.xx driver is supposedly working much better for the demo.
Seems like another poor port from the xbox.
Thanks a lot man!!! :toast:

Sh*t I cant get it to run..
Installation went fine and all, and when i launch it i can hear the music comming from the game's menu or something. But my monitor tells me that the signal is not supported
So appearantly the demo's default resolution isn't supported by my monitor..
anyone know how to fix this?
try running in compatibility mode - 640x480Quote:

edit: or try playing in default.cfg
Wooo! Many thanks for the link!
I've just tested it on my system with 158.19 drivers.

Not as bad as I thought. The cave test is extremely limited by the cpu. It was allways 100% in both cores.
I got it to work by connecting my tv to the tv output on the videocard :D so i could go into the menu on the tv screen and change the settings there.
thanks anyways :)
About the game; although its not the sort of game I prefer, it seems allright.
bu the strange thing is, the performance on my system doesn't change that much as i change the settings from low to high.. with high settings it runs about 15fps, with everything at low detail the framerate sits around 20fps
specs;
BFG 7900gt @ 550/850mhz (core/mem)
Intel E4300 @ 2.4Ghz
512mb ram @ 266Mhz (temporary; due to f*cked up mobo)
Loading times also seem pretty short when i keep in mind that i only have 512mb ram..

tested the dx9 ver (xp) now and got snow61fps/cave 62fps average. all stock in the setting but forcing in the nforce driver to 16aa and 16af.

Why do I get a .dll error when I try to play the DX9 version (I don't have a DX10 card yet)? Am I the only one to keep getting this?
I have the DX9 version... it keeps crashing on me.. .although the few minutes I play with it it looks nice.
I just updated dx9. It should work now. :)
Edit: Wow I can't play now because I don't have pixel shader version 2.0.
I'm having issues running the past 2 dx10 demos.
I keep getting an error of:
"This application has failed to start because d3dx10_33.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem"
I am running Vista Buis and have a EVGA 8800 GTX with the latest drivers from nvidia.
I'm fresh out of ideas
Wesley

Last post in the thread. Give it a try and see if it works.
That worked great. That seems needlessly complicated to get dx10 working.
Thanks a bunch
Wesley
lol soo much for DX10 .. i cant notice any differnece between the same setting in Dx9 and DX10
also for DX10 ... u can max out the shadow settings(u cant do that with DX9, medium is the max u can set in dX9) , and not notice any difference between medium and max
Rig in sig same gts settings:
dx9 demo
res: 1920*1200
snow: 34
cave: 41
settings all on low and 4xAA and 16X AF
Everything about this game is bizaare.
The menus are hard to navigate without the Xbox 360 controller.
When you change the resolution, the screen resolution doesn't change, just the back buffer.
The graphics aren't beautiful in the normal sense. Instead, they focus on environmental stuff. Motion blur, beautiful snow, explosions. I like it.
Even though it says 40fps, it still look slike it's running beautifully.
Loading is very minimal.
It's great looking, and I don't feel like I'm killing my computer to play it.
Download done...tested DX9 version on Xp...but im on 1gb of memory and stuck on stock settings till tomorrow.
Gonna test it tomorrow night and post results.
PS: With this hardware it SUCKED. (1gb micron ddr2 533 and e6400 @ stock) I was horrible at 25 fps at some times....piece of :banana::banana::banana:rat.
EDit: I forgot....it froze....horribly optimized piece of bullcrap
is it the xinput1_3.dll error? if so download and install dx9 april update. I had to install it to get the DX10 version to work.
http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...007_redist.exe
it looks a bit scewd on my monitor but looks OK at 1280x960 and it is playable at that res and all default settings (except for the res) on my 7900gt not to bad:) i ran the performance thing but i had some other options enabled at 1280x960 and i got 26 snow and 27 caves. i will run it again at default. but overall the effects are really nice, as stated overall graphics could be better but the snow explosions and motion blur are cool it also has a good physics aspect. not to shabby. can anyone say if it looks better on the xbox360?
1280x960 - 0xAA/16AF , everything else on highest possible
Snow:35
Cave:45
No :banana::banana::banana:ing widescreen support. Really pathetic. highest widescreen resolution is 1360*, which makes it clearly evident that it was meant for consoles since 32-37" HDTVs typically have this native res....
resolutions suck... why do developers not sort this sort of thing out before release!? I mean name one person on XS who has a 32-37" LCD for their monitor....
lol most monitor's that size are 1376x768, and are TV's. That's LOW res lol.:lol2:
Guys, like I said, the screen res is just whatever your desktop screen res is. It's the back buffer the res there changes.
It supports widescreen by applying the correct aspect ratio at any resolution.
I agree they should at least have higher res options, but playing 1280x800 upscaled to 1680x1050 is fine with me.
What a c#@%!!
Attachment 59236
Do I need to say more....
PS. X1950Pro 256MB
It doesn't work on Windows XP x64; same problem here and a google search later showed that everyone with that error is running XP x64.
It is FIRST game I come across which doesn't work on XP x64!!
What is funny (or not:mad: ) this is new title! Where is logic??
BTW I tried this game on XBOX360 and graphics was nice but game play sucks so I'm deleting this demo...
*UPDATE*
If you have Windows XP x64 and are getting the inadequate operating system error install the demo through STEAM. I tried it just to see what would happen and now it works. Enjoy.
