If anyone still needs a reason to crunch.....

Anyone who peeks around here and isn't sure whether to crunch, what it is all about, or why we do it, need look no further than HERE.

This team started in memory of Little Jake, who's brief life was taken by form of Muscular Dystrophy - one of the projects available at WCG.

Please read the following tribute to Little Jakes short life, and also the video, and I challenge anyone here not to be moved:

Although this is aimed at folks who don't crunch here yet - I would recommend anyone crunching to consider keeping this little team and Jakes memory alive by putting a spare rig there for a day or 2 as a show of support:

I apologise to the Admins if it is inappropriate to place this here, but this inspires me and I hope it inspires others to start crunching too. :toast:

Don't worry at all.
Things like this, though very sad, are the reasons why we do what we do.
The goal is to spend the time,money and effort now so that maybe a Jake in the next generation doesn't have to go through this.

The Default profile crunches everything, the Home does just FAAH - if you want to set up anything else then make up another profile for Work or School.:p:

Yesterday night my childrens grandfather passed away, and cancer did it.

We were celebrating christmas together, where he looked as a man to live 30 years more, four months later, cancer had payed him a visit.

my mother had lung cancer and spent 1.5 months sedated b/c she couldn't breath unaided. she fought very hard and now is recovering having beaten off her cancer!

Came out of a KMart when they were closing the store.
Switch, plus the monster router and a 8 port parrallel port box that attaches to it. Been sitting in my ulility room for 2-3 years. Let me see if I can find info on it.Bay Networks hardware

We now have another cruncher with this, so 5 in total - anyone else who can throw a rig here for a day or so would be welcome :toast:

You guys had a GREAT output yesterday 35k+ if I remember correctly.

Regardless of the team or where the points go, it is all VALUABLE research and anyone with a box[full time/part time] should consider doing the WCG work Somewhere.

Looks like some machines have returned after their weeks work - many thanks to those who contributed :toast:

I'm going to stay a bit longer, along with a few others I believe, to push XS to the top of their roster and hopefully give them a million - so if anyone else wants to help out you are more than welcome.

I moved the DX back to XSTM as they're gonna need all the firepower they can get.

I must admit that it has been quite a while since i felt i had emotions by reading a text. Now, after reading the text linked in the first post, it kinda reassured me. I had emotions. Very nice to see you here. I have 2 daughters that are the light in my life.
When I read the story on Jake it grabbed my heart.
Please give your Daughter a hug from me and tell her she's a very special lady in my opinion and that in this cold world there are people that care.

Folks, Guitar Man has posted over at WCG about a new arrival for his daughter Kathryn, the mother of Little Jake.

He is a 8lbs 3oz baby boy named Toby, but unfortunately he suffers from a similar condition as Little Jake, SMA Type1, and is unlikely to see his first birthday :(

Please read the thread over at WCG, and I'm sure he would welcome any words of support at this time.

It brings tears to my eyes when I see these little children and their parents suffer like this - lets keep up the great work we do here and help bring an end to this suffering.
