I took out the need to worry about the R&D money they spent paying engineers to make their chips. And of course they also have a lot of bills to pay:electricity, technicians, operators, etc....but we can take out the R&D factor by now because I'm pretty darn sure the money responsible for the development of the K8 has been paid off by now... anything else they accrue is for their future investments(such as the new fab labs and current engineers who are developing the K10)
because ultimately material wise, they are making a profit on the product, unlike say Sony's PS3 in which they sell the unit at a loss when speaking of pure material costs.(all debts and balance sheets aside)
