Old School Celeron 1.1A tualatin

Just been playing around with my tualatin celeron 1.1A seen as its bleeding cold here I thought I might as well try and push it, its not exactly extreme but hey its still damn good fun! :D

I managed to get 160MHz FSB or 1.76GHz but everytime i went to take a picture it rebooted lol! Im not sure If its the chip running out of juice as this is on stock voltage (1.5V) or the PCI bus speed being too high @40 MHz.
I am using an Intel D815EEA2 board which needless to say isnt great for overclocking so everything is done in windows using CPUFSB. I am using a very poor air cooler but with 12C ambient which helps even during pi runs it only reached 28C

Managed some superpi 1m action at 145MHz FSB (1.6GHz) This is a completely untweaked OS its for my general every day use, from what I can see on HWbot its the fastest pi1m by a celeron 1.1A by 5 seconds!

If anyone knows of a BSEL pin mod to trick the motherboard into giving the CPU 1.75V please post a linky or guide I am desperate to take this CPU higher I think 2GHz might be possible with a better board and more OC'ing options.

BSEL manipulates FSB only. Although I get what you mean with a pinmod. If you goto intel's website and just pull up the datasheet, it'll show you all the pinouts and you can figure it out. Good luck with it. 40pci, yikes.

Nice work breaking the 2-minute Pi on the celly :clap: This was an aim I had, but never quite managed it with my 1.1 tualatin. I need another half decent overclocking 370 board too, my last 370 rig got turned into an SDSL router :hehe:

were there any s370 boards that could lock pci? I remember there were a very few boards that had the 5 divider for 166fsb

Or perhaps does anyone else know which of those two would/should overclock better? I realise that SL6xx would probably be better but I can't find any of those at the moment (in the UK).

I also have some Athlon Xp-M old school power! It can do 2.7-2.8 on water and with phase should be capable of 3GHz!

I do love the old school but sometimes it becomes very apparent that its time to upgrade so not long and I will have an E4300 based rig ;)

Try pinmodding for more voltage, and also try using the onboard video. Max fsb i have obtained with 815 chipset is 185 fsb on the asus CUSL

I believe I have found the VID pin mod to increase voltage, now I just have to remove all PCI devices and hope my memory can take 160MHz+

btw. at 1600Mhz i make 1MB Pi for 1min and 30sec...how much is your ram ?

My RAM was at 3-2-2-5 I think it may do 2-2-2-5 but im not sure it will run at 145/150MHz with those timings, I have 2 sticks of 256Mb so I will try and isolate which is weaker and use the better one to go higher.
This board is extremely limited in overclocking and tweaking options (in fact there are none!) I noticed an Abit SA6-T on ebay if it stays cheap I will get it, hopefully it should be able to provide some more fun :)

What board were u using? I notice your PCI freq is locked?? How??

The board is good enough but my cpu is average.

Tweaks...yeap...i've thrown everything i know,so i can match-up your cpu speed.

I will see if I can do better this weekend :D

Havn't had time to do some superpi yet but tried a few things so I could get higher FSB and here is the result :D

Still on stock volts and air cooling! I did try bumping the FSB upto 166.7MHz (CPU@1833.7MHz) and it worked for about 10 seconds before it restarted

Am I a bad person for letting my 1.1a that did 1670 on an SK6+ and a Vx133u stagnate with my parents where it isn't even being used?

I think other than the ST6 and that Gigabyte board with the really long name, us Iwill users had some of the best overclocking Tually boards out there.

I almost managed to get the superpi 1m back a few days ago but the system rebooted just as I was saving the screen dump :( Hoping another cold night will give me the extra stability needed to save it.

i don't know if you can push it further, my p3 celeron 1.4ghz olso stopped at 1.75ghz. but with stock cooling and a :banana::banana::banana::banana:ty mobo.

This chip has alot more in it yet! It just needs a decent motherboard and RAM or some extreme mods! :D

Yeah that Gigabyte board ...the only one with 1/5 divider.

GA-6OXET was the name iirc, but the Soyo SY-TISU wasn't that bad either.

Ah the old Tually Celeron. I gotta pick up my ST6 from my friend and replace the bulging caps on it. Maybe do a voltmod on the Northbridge and RAM.

sparky1000 how you make your ram to run at 166mhz.I cant set more than 133 from the bios and i cant set a voltage.Please help me couse i am going to brake the WR for Intel Celeron Tualatin 1200 which is 1971mhz and i am most going to 1911 and againt fell down :(

EDIT: btw did you lock your agp/pci lock ? I have jumpers on my mainboard and set it to max 33.3 and when i want reach higher mhz with more PCI/AGP mhz my computer reboot ;(

My board has no options in the BIOS for overclocking so I have to do everything in windows using CPUFSB, I cannot lock the PCI/AGP bus either so at 160MHz FSB the PCI clock is running at 40MHz, my graphics doesnt seem to mind but I think my hard drive might.
My RAM absolutely stinks it can just do 140~145MHz @2-2-2-5 in a few weeks time I will be using some RAM capable of 160MHz+ @2-2-2-5 and higher @3-3-3-5 so I should take the pi record back :)
Also going to try and get past 2GHz for the CPU ;)

I think to turn off the PCI/AGP Lock from jumpers to make it....strange thing it is.SOmetimes it work with agp/pci lock sometimes not :( GRRRRR :slapass:

What graphics are you using? Nvidia cards handle high AGP frequencies better than ATi, I use a G4 MX440SE Its not a great card but doesnt mind AGP in the 80MHz region :)

Do you happen to know if yours is the fastest Tualatin core ever? I cant see anything higher on www.ripping.org or www.hwbot.org but I would like to know what kind of region I need to be aiming at :D

If you have an AGP Nvidia card to hand give it a go you might find it gives you a some extra MHz :)
What FSB have you got to so far?? The highest I have managed was 160MHz (AGP@80MHz) but not exactly stable I need to track down what was limiting me.

If you are going for high fsb, you really really want to get an 815 board with onboard graphics. My highest was 185 fsb, with the 4:3 ram ratio. (138mhz ram, 92mhz agp)

For tualatin, i suggest the asus TUSL2 (not TUSL2-C, since that lacks onboard graphics)

I bought some Crucial PC133 CL2 RAM the other day to see if I could give TASOS' Superpi 1m a run for his money, I knew I needed 145MHz FSB at 2-2-2-5 timings to beat his 99.13s run.

So here is 145MHz FSB and new Celeron 1100A pi 1m WR

From what I can see on HWBot its the fastest pi1m by a Tualatin core! Including all the PIII with Tualatin core :banana:

I ran a few tweaks but I am by no means an expert, OS was win2000, Core voltage is stock 1.5V, motherboard is my trusty Intel D815EEA2.

I have a few more things planned as I want the all out Tualatin frequency WR which I think currently stands at 2121MHz but I need a mount for my SS first.

lol maybe i need to bring my old 1100 celly outa the closet and i got a 1ghz p3 to but no boards that really overclock much a dell board and a tyan 1812 or somthing. My celly ran 1.6ghz on my real old biostar board befor it died that was no vcore adjustments to.

They are fantastic little CPU's! Can be hit or miss though I bought another in case I killed this one and it wont even run 5% OC without more voltage!
You dont even need a decent board, mine has no options in the BIOS at all! I use CPUFSB to get upto these speeds unfortunately it goes in large increments as opposed to 1MHz incrememnts :( If I can get 166MHz FSB stable the next jump is to 200MHz!! :D

What i thk i might do is load 98 on this old 6gig and test my k3 350 oc to 550 then test my old cellys

Got a Celeron 1.1, but its not a tualatin.

Also my motherboard wont work with it (Asus P3B-F) and voltage selection on it has broken (stuck at stock only) :(

Yeah CPU-Z reads wrong its still at stock, previously I have hit 166MHz FSB for a few seconds but my memory was not good enough, with this crucial RAM I am hoping to hit 166MHz FSB but need better cooling hence phase :D
Got a few VID pin mods planeed so I can increase Vcore and a few other things as well ;)
I got the board off ebay from a guy in Ireland very nice seller and the board even came with a spare CMOS battery! Entire system was put together for under £30!
Its a testament to the board really! It was never ever designed to be running FSB at these kind of speeds but it does it with ease! NB never gets hot AGP never drops out just temps and memory holding me back.

@mup0: please get your 1200 going!! Its all about competition!! :D

yesterday the tualatin 1400 has arrived me!!!! and with calm I prepare myself in order to pass from the phase change to the dryice, after the summer you will see again to me to overclock with the tualatin

I did a tualatin mod for my CUSL2 a while ago, but i found out that it changed the voltage to 2.3v :eek:

I tried running memtest but i got errors... I'll have to mod it some more and then see what i can do :cool:

i remove the ihs in my celly 1200, but the frequency is not improved, indeed I have noticed of the worsenings

Mine still has the IHS on as well, Seems like you guys all have great boards for running these Tualatins! I hope I can keep up ;)

i think it's the limit of my SS. the another limit is Vcore. i can't give the "1" to "VID25mV" for 2.1+ vcore. :(

I tried my 1100 on my single stage and to my huge dissappointment it is cold bugged!!!!!!!!!! :(

If i want to go higher than 1.76GHz I am going to have do some crazy watercooling or something?!?!
