Thanks guys for the heads up!! Got myself a set & a new p5b-d to play with. Been waiting for a deal to come up on these.

Well, I will certainly be looking forward to reading your results. But I just ordered 2 sets of the Ballistix, it was cheaper than the GeIL and I am sure that it is good enough for me.Quote:

Maybe even get a P5B Deluxe with it as well...
For some reason (cough... "bait and switch"... cough... ), I don't feel bad for Corsair.Quote:

These are the more expensive "Tracer" version of the Ballistix too (mit das Blinkenlights), but I think they the same grade of RAM used in the regular Ballistix.
 This shi.t cracks me up:
The bling-bling thing
How does Ballistix Tracer do that bling-bling thing?
Our custom-designed circuit relays bus activity to the LEDs. The chip drives the activity-indicator LEDs, while the ground effects LEDs are driven directly from the module power supply. However, Ballistix Tracer modules don't require a higher voltage than standard Ballistix memory. (The brightness of the LEDs will vary slightly with the memory module voltage, and higher voltages will produce brighter LEDs, but DO NOT exceed the recommended voltages.) The LEDs operate independently from the rest of the module and do not affect performance.

hot deal, must resist buying another kit
Is this still valid?
I tried to purchase it but it tells me the code (which I copied and pasted) is not valid.
doesnt work for me either.
Talk to a Online CS Rep and give them the flyer's link and see what they can do for you.Quote:

Odd...it was supposed to last till Monday.
Yes but this was a special offer promo code sent in the newsletter to those who signed up. I don't think these promo codes are meant to be for anyone & everyone. Sure anyone can use it, after all, how would Newegg know people outside the sale circle were using it unless it was posted in some forum somewhere and they ran across it.:) Has anyone checked to see if the other codes work?Quote:

Oh, well...I guess there's a message there, somewhere, that I should be paying attention to.
I really don't see Newegg pulling the deal because it's posted on a forum, after all, their intention is to sell. I think Irev is correct, they were down to like 20 kits.Quote:

... and you get exactly the price it says on the GeIL setting next to the Tracers, $289.99 but only with the promo code and mail-in-rebate (not something less than the promotion says).
EDIT: The final price on thE GeIL now appears to $295.98 after the $20 mail-in-rebate, so something is screwed up there too.
In short, the base price of these Tracers was supposed to have been at $375.99 (or raised to it), not $325.99.
Somebody at NewEgg screwed up in our favor.
I believe that the previous post is correct, and those of you that got them earlier for the $270 got a Christmas gift in January. :D
Wasn't just the Tracers, the GEIL used to be $250 after its promo code. :-/
Seems like they put up a couple of deals that were too good to be true.
think if i still have this in my cart, in an open web browser at work, with the code applied.. it will go through on monday? lol
When I tried the GeIL today before I ordered the Tracers, I got a price that was much higher than $250. Now, I get $315.98 after entering the promo code (which appears to be working and gives $30 off). However, with the mail-in-rebate of $20 the final price on the GeIL is $295.98, not the $289.99 advertised so something is still screwed up (the base price should be $6 less).Quote:

Wow, damn, thank God my order got processed and credit card got charged before they bumped up the prices to $315 AR. My order reads:
http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...olnewegg-1.png
So me > Newegg.
I think they reserve the right to refund your money and keep the item if they screwed up the price, afterall it was advertised at a higher price, and it was just an error that it got calculated to $~270. Hopefully newegg just fixes it and takes the small loss.
Well, my orders got to NewEgg's "step 3" today which mean my credit card was charged and that they should ship on Monday.
I think you're probablly right. I got the exact feeling when I was doing the check-out and found the discrenpancy.:toast:Quote:

I think if Newegg, or any etailer, makes a pricing error that isn't unreasonable, it's their fault and they should honor all the orders placed when the wrong price was posted. It's not like they're taking a huge loss, anyway. And really, honoring their errors only makes customers happier.
Guess I got in in the nick of time too. I paid the $266, and thanks to Newegg's amazing efficiency, the RAM was shipped within 2 hours.
It's nice having a mistake work in my favor every now and again!
A little credit card snag kept mine from shipping on Friday, but because I ordered two sets and I knew this deal wouldn't last, I was quick to contact NewEgg when it appeared my orders were stuck at "step 1".
NewEgg is very concerned about keeping their customers happy and very liberal about paying to do so (but, of course, we know how NewEgg screws people on shipping). I was easily able to get money out of them because they indicated the wrong specs. on the 5400UL deal in November: http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...d.php?t=123720
So, I think it is clear that NewEgg intends to eat it on this one. It sounds like most of the RAM already shipped anyways. Otherwise, they should have cancelled my orders on Friday.
9 left, code dosn't seem to work
I tried to order it earlier today...I was wondering why it didn't work...
mine is already outbound as well..glad i jumped on this early :)
Talk to CS Rep. LINK Read post #51.
Ok, so Customer Service people are still pushing this through, eh?
4 set left.
Oos!!!!!
No -I tried and they wouldn't let me order. I talked to a supervisor on the chat line. He said no more promotional sale of the Crucial until sales people had a look at it Monday.Quote:

Thought about that myself, but I just don't have $270 for a spare/extra set of RAM. 2GB will have to be enough for me right now.
*grin*
this is good stuff :-D
posting results shortly.
Great, looking forward to the results.Quote:

On these tracers, I havent tested 3-3-3-4 yet, but they do 570 4-4-4-5 with 2.45Vdimm dual superpi 32m stable :)
I got two more kits coming so hopefully those will do even better.
As always, I am a Micron fan... but PROMOS is moving up quick. Hopefully we can get some xtreme comps going between the two :)

Received this afternoon. Sticked them in to work with the the other Ballistix pair (non tracer version). I did not changed bios any settings and sent them direct to memtest86+. The test lasted for 1.5 hours. More than 2 passes showed no single error.:toast: :woot:

I got my Tracers yesterday but currently I'm still WITHOUT my damned XBX2. I HATE Tigerdirect's RMA policy.:banana::banana::banana:ing idiots.
As soon as I get it back I'll have some results.
ok i got mine today, but i didnt order the tracers i ordered the yellow heatsink ones and i opened the box and there was a set of tracers!! woot woot i guess, they better overclock as well as the yellow heatsink ones!!
What'd you pay for them?Quote:

These tracers used the same pcb but different week so it might varies. I'm still hoping it will hit those, otherwise I wouldnt have bought these. I know what the orange can do but this was just a steal tho. :)

D9NHL (or HNL, I forget) won't clock as well as you're used to ;) :(

Hopefully this is like early D9 fatbody... otherwise micron just lost its cash cow.
Not sure what D9 this is, the spreader was really stuck on there and i dont want to void the warranty.
edit:
testing second set of tracers... looks like 580 4-4-4-5 is a go with 2.45Vdimm on p5b-dlx
VERY impressive for the price.

Also, I've done some testing on @ 1120Mhz 4-4-4-4 @ 2.45vdimm (set in BIOS) with a P5B Deluxe. The P5W DH does not like this mem for anything when it comes to 1000Mhz, I tried different dividers with no luck, however it's doing quite well with 800Mhz 3-3-3-4 @ 2.35vdimm. I know it's not my P5W DH because I have some D9GKX and does well with it above 1000Mhz. I do not have my Regular Ballistix PC2-8000 here but I'll get a hold of it and test it in the P5W DH to see if there's a difference. I'm testing it 850Mhz CAS3 with 2.4vdimm (set in BIOS) with the P5W DH, I think with a little more vdimm 900Mhz CAS3 is quite possible.
Additional Comments: I started Playing with CAS 5 and this mem does 1200Mhz no problem. I will not do 1200Mhz CAS4 (1120Mhz was my best) so this ram is good to go in my opinion so if you got in on the buy then you did good. I pesonnaly got 2 kits. Off to Ebay I go because I have a regular Ballistix which does quite well.

They are now $325.99 - $20 MIR + $4.99 S/H = $310.98 in case you're still something for something decent.
