these cpus are little popular..
I ordered 4 opterons 1210 and I'm waiting for parcel.. It will come to me tomorrow, surely I'll pass the report. I am going to run it on DFI Infinity UltraII-M2. Has anyone this cpus? so far I saw only 2 screens with oc these optys and I was searching abuout it but I didn't find anything..
any info on these, the steppings, and how well they clock and what cooling is used on them will be appreciated! I don't know how many have tried them yet.

its at around 2.43GH at the moment on stock volts and stock cooling, its been stressed using SP2004. Im not gonna push it any further for the mo as its my main computer for my university work and i don't have time :( but i rekon with decent cooling it'll easily hit 2.7-2.9 and im just a novice overclocker.
i didn't write the stepping down but its a ccbyf.

aha proof that the AM2 opties do work in the DFI board :fact: I figured they did but DFI didn't want to say whether they did or not.
yeah although not "officially" supported, works even with the shipped bios ;)

You will need 350HT clock to squeeze juice from 1210 :D .

Those vCore readings from CPU-Z are correct?? If yes you Opty is amazing!!

In two first screens Vcore is correct but in comparison screen - incorrect.

And to think four months ago or so I had a 1218 that I paid just $330 Retail. It arrives I install it into my Asus M2N32-SLI and it wasn't supported. Anyway I returned mine after Newegg offered me credit so I put in a few bucks and got an 8800GTX instead kept my Asus M2N32-SLI and the Windsor 3800X2 I have which does 300FSB at default Vcore
I looked under every board manufacturer at the time and no desktop enthusiast board "officially" supports it. Thanks to a few members here I found these chips work in the DFI Inifinty SLI (Nf4) and that person ran their 1212 to 3100MHz and a 600MHz DDR2 speed! I find the DDR2 speed simply amazing for a Nf4 board?
I know the MC is on-die but how do the HT lanes on an NF4 get this good with DDR2? Yesterday I decided to get a 1212 from the Egg and the DFI NF590, I just had to see what the Opty would do.
Does anyone know of, or own a Santa Ana core? Or is CPUZ mistaken and reading these chips as Santa Rosa?
I also learned the Abit NF-M2 is compatable if you like 6150 chipset.

IMHO wouldn't Overclocker's want perfromance chipsets for the famous Opty silicon? I wonder why AMD hurting as they are wouldn't want more sales from our group, albeit a niche group or not. If they are preventing mobo makers from running AM2 Opties in their boards why then

Wow, finally some discussion in this thread again! Well, CPU-Z here sais it is Santa Rosa cores and so do all the shops I looked at here in Norway. It is kinda strange. I dont remember the stepping on my Opty, have a picture somewhere here, but impossible to find because I am testing Vista and its caos here. Can look for it later, but it is same as one of the CPUs mentioned earlier in the thread. By the way, by clocking with clock gen I managed to get to 3262MHz, link or a screenshot is coming as soon as I find it.

I just found out both my mobo and 1212 are at my grandmas I have to get them, but I didn't get a tracking number and the 1216's arrived in stock for just $67 more at $273 I wish i got that chip because I'd have a higher multiplier to work with and 400GHz advantage overe the 1212? You can always lower the multiplier for higher FSB but obviously you can't go the other way with a Server chip, or chip except the FX series which leaves all multipliers open.
I'll give her a shot and see what happens, we'll have to see how high the NF590 will go, did I hear people claiming 350FSB ? Because I can't get that out of my Asus M2n32-SLI and my 3800X2 is running at 300FSB at default Vcore so I'd bet there's more headroom there, ergo something else is holding me back?
I believe CPUZ is simply mis-identifying the core since all 1200-series seem to be Santa Ana by Chris Hares page.
Shouldn't the 1220SE be able to withstand higher temps than his little brothers?

Thank you I also forgot the Ole Tried and True AMDboard my Optie and DFI arrived last week but I can't even get to them because I'm so behind on reviews my mom is very ill, I'm her fulltime Caretaker.

Bingo, I have heard of it, and I have it as well, that is the stepping of my 1218. I Have CCBYF 0630UPMW, but I think that it is CCBYF that counts. Some of the guys like probably Maryo and some other guy on this forum had same stepping on their 1210, but that thread died long ago. Still we all got like over 3150MHz and those 1210s got to 3250MHz or so, looking good for your chip as well. I think I have seen that kind of stepping on an Opteron 165 for socket 939, gonna see if it is true in the Opty thread as soon as I have a little bit more time. To much university work, to many studies. Anyways, I hope your mom will get better, and it is no go over here because no Opterons will be available in the nearest week or two. No shop can confirm any date, not even on the 6000+ that cought my eye since the pricedrops this week.

By the way I've been reading the 6000+ is a "top binned" desktop with the same silicon as the FX-62 just a 200MHz difference?

I have the same stepping(mine is a 1210) and so far can do 2.5GHz at stock volts but I'm sure it has more in it but this new NF-M2 doesn't want to go above 275 stable, no matter what I do. But I may just give up and get the DFI 590 SLI and see how that one does,Quote:

Memory settings? Sometimes you have back off on the DDR settings to allow the processor to soar....
Currently I'm running 12-4-4-4 2T @ 412 when running at 275HTT but I was testing at 15-5-5-5 2T and no matter what divider, CPU multiplier & HTT multiplier I chose, 280+ isn't stable. Unless there are some special settings I haven't changed, this board is going back,
Edit: Looks like I fixed the issue, after not being able to change multipliers, I reflashed the original BIOS, I'm now running at 340HTT so far but I'm sure I can go higher :-)

Actually it's on air, ~50c at full load on a AC Freezer 64 which I got new for $20 from the egg but I'll be changing it in the near future. As for water, I had watercooling for like 2yrs back in 02-03 and even tho it was slightly cooler, for now I will stay with my quiet air setup but I do need a slightly better CFM fan for the cooler tho,
If it's air you must then I'd invest in a Zalman
May not be as quiet as you like, but it will outperform most HSF's.

Actually, I was looking at the TT Big Typhoon cause my case has a side 92mm fan which would blow almost directly on top of it but right now, this mobo is limiting me pretty bad, so I don't have a need for a better cooler until I swap this mobo,
Liquid3D: Tested your new toys yet? We finally got the Opterons in stock. Now I am sitting with a choice here, 1214 or 1216? Which do you think have potential to reach higher max overclock? Or may be X2 5600+ that is a bit more expensive, but again, I want a high overclock. So, which of 1214, 1216 or 5600+ should I buy?
PS: I have a feeling that 1220SE have a potential for big overclock, but it is so expensive, anyone has to much cash and would like to test it?
mine his ccbyf 0627rpmw seeing your result it give me the urge to clock it good but i cant :( its darn hot in here :( guess il aft to figure out a way to cool it go opty go ;)
guess ill remove the dust of the cpu hs and install everything back and figure out the way to deal with extreme heat and post a score tomorow night

open your PC case and leave the side panels off. This should get it closer to ambeint temp.

Sorry for the way late reply. The DFI never floated my boat, you pateince with the board and a good understanding of memory. My 1212 got me some great 3.0GHz performance on my Asus M2N32-SLI I loved that board. Problem was the first BIOS version to support Opties was cursed. If you doubt me simply Google "BIOS 903 memory issues" You'll find the bios effected M2N32-SLI ownersb the world over mostly rendering their systems un-bootable. I belaive the BIOS actually damaghed memory and have a few kits to prove it and some I sent some ram to who had to RMA the board afterwords.Quote:

eee i resolved those matters... now the board is completly outside of the case and sitting on the table everything running and ive removed the dust from my fan too.. but is there some sort of voltage that i must add to the chipset at some point? because ive tried a couple of combination and it always hangs...
ps.. here's a pic to show how i hooked up my rig.. i know the front pannel is laying around but i didnt wanted to take chance by touching the wrong pin or so..
