Hi there.....As title says.....:)

Testing to find the max 3D benchable frequency....
So far - so good....

System:

CPU = Core 2 Duo X6800.
Motherboard = ABIT AW9D-MAX - Modded.
VGA = ATI X1900XTX SINGLE at 702MHz core and 891MHz rams.
PSU = a. Zippy 700W, b. Enermax 550W and c. Superflower 420W.
Rams = 2 x 512MB Corsair 8000UL - Fatbodies chips.
EXTRA = DDR Maximizer powering the rams. :)
CPU Cooling = Controled LN2 at -155*C
VGA Cooling = Default heatsink
Northbridge cooling = Swiftech heatsink with a Delta 4 x 4cm fan at 10000rpms
VCore = 1.91Volts, Vdimm = 2.78Volts, VMCH = 2Volts, Vfsb = 1.65Volts
OTHERS = STILL testing - those benchies where done very fast ;)

The 3D benching frequency you see it's for 2k3, 2k5, 2k6 benching......For 2k1, it can bench @ ~5300MHz:D

hexus pi-fast is based on Version 4.1 and TheLab pi-fast is based on Version 4.4:)

I thought the C2D's only went to the 6800's or an error on cpuz?

This is because the cpu-z reads the multiplier you have and shows what it should be...If I change the multiplier and put it at x9, it'll show that it's an 6600 CPU.....In the midle though, it shows exactly what it is....:)

First benchies will take place with ATI X1900 and X1950 VGA cards...These benchies will be a "GOODBYE" to ATI for their support to me(us) :( :mad:

The bad thing is we have NO official sponsorship, but just good friends with access to pre released stuff.
This ofcourse holds us really back, and it would be so nice to have this kind of stuff just for us (under NDA ofcourse) to sqeeze it.

Currently we're gonna have 2-3 days to fully tweak,mod,bench with these babies, which is too little time to prepare before 95+% of the best result we can get

(and the bad thing is we want 100k sooooooo bad):D

About ATI stuff: I've sent an e-mail to European "ATI chief" for supporting our team by providing us 2 x X1950s.....He answered immediately from his PDA (or mobile) and he asked me where are we from.......I wrote to him that we are from Hellas(Greece)......NOTHING....Not even another answer of him like: "we are sorry but we can't"...or something like that......He just snobed us coz we are from Greece??......I do not know!....and we have "spit our blood" for ATI all those years.....It ain't worth it.....!....We're going to put ATI on the top of the ORB for LAST time....:( :slapass:

Nice to see you back in action with a really good X6800 :toast:

It is hard to get cards for this stuff, before I joined the NH crew as a technical editor I never got any contacts for support with hardware. Atm I'm saving to buy one or two 8800GTX, I have a fealing they will be really fun to bench with good overclocking and hopefully no coldbug :) We are looking at good month for benching with G80 and Kentsfield.

Even from an onlookers perspective the cold bugs seem like something that can kill the fun of benching completely stone dead even for the most hardy of benchers.

I'm overdue for a good orb-slapping. Why not have it be with my own gear and one of the worlds best clockers :D. A great sendoff would be cool. My first gpu ln2benching was all on ATI, seems so long ago lol.

I need to get the drive back for some serious benching. Solo 3dmark bench sessions with 3 units now requires 100% focus and determination. The new HW looks so crazy fast. It's pretty damn cool that I can compete with someone who lives across the world, and we are both using the others "ace" so to speak.

I can tell you that the 100k barrier could be broken with the X1950's too IF the rams didn't have the "1143MHz limit bug"...I think that this could be solved with a new bios perhaps....Though I'm willing to flash if a newer bios for them show up somewhere.....:)

Hmmm....yes try it please..... :D

Force MIP is one ugly 'tweak', some people call it a cheat. In some 3D mark scénes you get black screen for a few second, some scénes will look unricognizable, etc etc
I've never tested altering the MIP level in nVhardpage registery. I know you can get big boosts with it, but that's also why I doubt the image quality is still decent enough.

Now, what is decent enough? And what isn't? It should not be discussed further here, but it might be a good read for much people who don't know of this 'trick' so if anyone feels like making a topic about it, please do so.

If you mean LOD (and only LOD), then YES, firstly "discovered" by an NVIDIA "player" and since last year ATI "players" use it too....ALL the scores on ORB are with LOD for MORE THAN FOUR YEARS now believe it or not....:)

LOD is the first degree of tweaking, MIP is more effective.

Right NOW I'm trying to find the MAX 3D benchable frequency.....
VGAs are the X1950s (borrowed by dimcar and thelab.gr/pcworld.gr) on AIR at 756/1143MHz as for the 2k1 and 742/1143MHz as for the 2k5...
I think I can do about 5400MHz 2k1 and 5300MHz+ 2k5/2k6....we'll see......

Off course on ABIT AW9D-MAX mobo and Cell Shock 2 x 1GB Rams PC8000 C4 at Cas 3-3-3-1 :) .......My Fatbodies just can't do Cas 3-2-2-1 that high...only up to 435MHz...... :(

ALSO in 2k1 the Car Low was NOT optimized...... ;)

About MIP on ATi...I've tried it for 01 nature, the gains were there but not very significant, and 01 caught it as a "cheat"...so it was unpublishable. An obscure registry key does the trick, but it doesn't seem very useful on ATi.

X1950's are a bit faster coz of the rams and the newer core....BUT....a maxed out 1950 does ONLY 1143MHz on rams and no more due to some bug.....On the other hand, the 1900's CAN do more....So yes - X1900's are better for the time been....;)
