Aluminum Caps ASUS P5B-E Plus Intel 965 chip Results
-
whats the vdroop like? Nice OCs so far though :).
500FSB straight is damn good!
-
Interesting.
What does it have over the P5B-E to get the 'Plus' denomination?

thanks for sharing :)
how hot is the chipset ?

so... besides the aluminum caps & Northbridge HS, what is different with this board compared to the P5B-Deluxe?
-
Thanks for pics, Andre.:)

The layout is the same P5B Deluxe.
P5B Deluxe is 8 phase, but P5B-E Plus is 4 phase.

Thanks Andre for sharing.
Apart from the 8 mosfets and 4 of it's driver ICs surroiunding the CPU, also one IC near the CPU fan connector (at the end of the ram yellow socket) is also gone too from Deluxe version. Wonder why that IC for ?
From the CPUZ screen mobo section, at the graphic interface part, it says AGP, I assumed you're using PCI graphic card right ?

thx !
Better VCore, more phases means less ripple and better VRM on cpu load transient response (electronic speaks). Laymen term, faster & steady juice flow for the CPU when it needs it on sudden. Dunno if this is good enough for you ? :)

usually cleaner power, but if the circuit is well designed it wont matter as much.

i smell some mods coming! maybe even flashing the Dlx bios on it. as they probably are identicle bios's
thanks for the pics and such andre.
any idea on a price point ? i dont see any reason why it should be over $150.
maybe give the DS3 some competition.
i see its the C2 NB also.
ya know it would take a 10 cent piece of hardware for Asus to eliminate all droop why the hell do they insist on having every single board they make except for they most extreme units have such insane vdroop.
thats absolutely retarded and uncalled for and truly shows a loack of any type of caring about the quality of their hardware.
once again people will be forced to mod yet another asus board to make up for their insane vdroop.
but thanks for sharing the vdroop issue andre i thnk we all appreciate your honesty on that. its going to eliminate that board from alot of peoples purchases because of it.

I have no idea about that IC. My P5B-D IC is not very clear, but P5B-E has not that IC.
ya.....I use PCI Matrox G450.

What is the Asus V-Droop caused by? Bad design? BIOS design?
Other motherboards don't drop by 5% Vcore, 1-2% at most my SLI-DR.
Why haven't asus fixed it? :o

Rev. 1.01 G ? I thought they just use the existing Rev.1.03G Dlx mobo and slapped it with fewer ICs ?
Andre, since you have that connection, is there any difference if it was made from China or Taiwan? My Dlx is from Taiwan.

Rev 1.01 1.02 1.03 1.04 are just number because I have Rev.1.04G P5B-D and WS Pro.
It's not important that where made from. It's only feeling. Some people said MIT is a good quality, but nobody prove it.

the vdroop looks very bad...
thanks for sharing

does this board do the double shut down thing like other Asus boards?

ASUS already fixed 965 chip cold boot on new BIOS.

Sorry to seem like a n00b, but I am a n00b with the P5B. How can you determine the board's revision ? I have my naked P5B-D here, everything stripped(coolers and heatsinks), I look at all the stickers, all the markings, no indication of the revision. Any help is appreciated.
By the way Andre, nice review and nice results. C2 P965 seems to hit 500MHz FSB easier than C1, but other than that, can you compare to the P5B-D and see any performance or OC differences ?
-
When does this board hit the retail market? And price?
-
-
I though I have seen the same photos one week ago from somewhere else

Can you hit 600 FSB with this board?
-
Andre, can you track down a revision 2.0 motherboard for thye Gigabyte DQ6 or DS4?
Just to see how the motherboards differ to revision 1.0

Air cooling is hard to oc FSB 600.

If you bothered to use the search function, you would know vdroop is designed *directly* by Intel's spec sheets. Asus is just following specs.
My IC7 max3 has pretty much the same vdroop range. And that's not Asus...
-
o/t, sorry.
Has ASUS addressed this on 975 boards?
Andrew

Andre u wrote that u are using Geil memory, which one, I don't see any heatspreader on it?

I removed heatspreader. It's DDR2 800 CL=3-3-3-8 GX22GB6400PDC V=2.4V

LOL Vdroop only borught up pages and pages of people saying, have you used the Vdroop mod, or what is teh Vdroop Mod.
Now I know, so I will give my E6600 1.55V if it needs it :p

yep ,too much vdrop like a P5B vanilla and P5B-e ;)
My P5B deluxe only vdrop 0.01v :
1.312v idle ------ 1.30v full
P5B deluxe only droop from BIOS to WIndows :
1.35v BIos -----------1.312v windows Idle --------1.30v FULL
YANG what de Vdroop from bios to windows on P5B-e PLUS ??? :
BIOS ??????----------------windows idle 1.42v ------------Windows FULL 1.35v

i got a little droop idle->full is about 0.03v
and from bios->windows is 0.04v

Andre, since you have that Asus connection, no big deal though, mind ask is it from now on, all new Asus mobo is made in China ? Fyi, my P5B-Dlx made in Taiwan.
-
I have just been looking at the specification of the P5B-E PLUS and it mentions 2 x 4 pin EATX 12 v power connector, will this board work with just the 1 x 4 pin connector or is ther another PSU needed ? also Andre what bios revision did the board have ? thanks.
-
Andre how much further above 500fsb can you get? Is the 100% OC 533FSB possible? Is this board worth the $150 against $170 for the P5B-D (I won't be using dual pcie-16x)?
What I mean is this: which is the better OCer the P5B-Deluxe or the P5B-E Plus?
-
I think u need to look at this :)
http://img58.imageshack.us/img58/2006/750fsbsv3.jpg
This is a MB from my signature...
P5B Dlx 1.03G Made in China - Chipset: C1
Maybe it is not too hard to achieve 500 FSB even with that multiplier :)
I have before PCB from Taiwan but i change it to this and they have exactly same clocking abilities...
I think this is enough answer for some questions from this thread :)
-
I dont get it, is that 6 or 9 multiplier? Can anyone achieve 550FSB on any board?
