Alright, finally able to log in.
I've now done 2 of the Vmods; Vdimm & Vnb.
350 FSB @ DDR400 @ 2 2 2 5 1T speed!!!

Sadly I'm only j/k of course, but the mods works and I'm now able to clock the BH-5 mem up to 225MHz mem speed ( 2.95V needed ).
Only bench stable though.
But my BH-5 sticks aren't interesting for 24/7 use, the 2GB DDR UCCC mem are and I have one hell of a tough time to clock them at DDR400 @ 1T settings. :(
I'm now going to reboot and see if I can break 302 FSB barrier with the Vnb mod in place, wish me good luck! :cool:
Edit: @Alchemist; yeah I've read those threads. If I can't get 300 FSB 100% stable ( which I apparently can't when Prime95 fails ) I'll put CPU back to default and don't bother clocking this setup at all.

No actually, I'll remove the heatspreders on the mem. Get some Cu ones, use a good thermal paste and add a fan over the sticks.
They must be overheating.

Adjusted some settings and said: "If FSB300 doesn't work, maybe FSB306 will". You know that "famous" FSB300 bug. :D

I'm only using 2.7 Vdimm = high in BIOS. These mem only need 2.6V to function properly up to 260-270MHz. They're PC4000 mem.
But I can dual prime - as it seems - Small Test @ FSB306 forever so I guess it's not the CPU, not the mobo but memory or northbridge.
Fine, let's put mem on divider or use 2T or use the flex "poor perf" option You may say!?
The sad part, it doesn't help me. Large test still errors out at 300 FSB. :slapass:
I must play more with advanced timings.
But first I'm going to try boot at FSB312 and do some torture with dual prime Small Test. Test the CPU so to say. :cool:

Alright, when I'm using a X1900XT I've never bothered to do the Vagp mod.
How could an AGP mod possibly help me pass memtest & Prime95 large test at FSB300!?? :stick:
Well, I did the mod and immediately I could pass memtest86 not only at 300FSB but 310FSB too, and post & boot at FSB315!!! :D
So I guess this is in reality a memory controller mod ( or somehow connected to mem ), kind of.
Still, dual Priming large test fails at FSB300 even though it's perfectly benchable up to at least 315FSB. :confused: :rolleyes:

I have done the highest cpu pin volt mod for the D 805 and got it to
4000Mhz.
I can boot into Windows at 4080Mhz but its not stable.
Thats 50% Overclock with this mobo happy happy!

No luck for me, no FSB300 for me. I even lost the damn MAC address after a CMOS reset. "MAC address invalid in both Flash and CMOS, press F1 to continue"!!! :D
So, no 10/100 MBit LAN until I figured out how to recover the address, my network card.
The chip had to be reprogrammed.

Um I think the losing of the MAC address was a BIOS issue. I believe to get it fixed would require sending the board back to asrock. You could always use this as an excuse to upgrade to gigabit ethernet card :D
Yeah, losing the MAC address is probably a BIOS issue.
And not a small one either. But it can be fixed and I luckily recovered it. :p:

3. Use notepad to open MA file in the Windows OS.

5. Boot the system from the floppy disk, run MM (A:\mm <Enter>) to write the MAC address.
6. To read the MAC address from the motherboard, run A:\mac r<Enter>

Yeah the northbridge voltage doesn't seem to help anyone's oc, I just posted it cause someone was asking for it. the one I labelled as Vagp, going from 1.59 to 1.79v, was good for about 15mhz on the fsb for me. setting the PCI-e to 117mhz was huge also.

Most people have to run 2T with this board, even with good ram, and no OC. From benchmarks I've ran its a 2-3% performance hit, but its completely stable whereas 1T would would crash my games.
I use DDR 400 setting 3-3-3-8 2T. with fsb at 315.

Setup like this I'm scoring nearly 30k in 3dmark01se with a 6600gt.
The good news: CPC 2T definitely makes things more stable! :)
And the perf hit is small ( less than 5% ).
Yeah, I wish I could use 3 3 3 8 2T beyond FSB300 but my 2x1GB mem won't let me. Beyond FSB300 I need to use 3 4 4 10 2T and while this doesn't sound too bad there are times when 9x290 2.5 3 3 6 1T provides better performance than 9x310 3 4 4 10 2T, like in WinRAR 3.61 single- & multithreading hardware test and dual Super PI 32M. :woot:
3DMark01/03/05/06 are of course a bit faster with 9x310 3 4 4 10 2T settings.
I did try 9x310 2.5 3 3 6 1T @ DDR333 speed and it wasn't too bad, actually quite good but with DDR mem we're already short of mem bandwidth so I feel DDR400 speed is the way to go.

right my friend has this board and a intel 805 he seems to be having problems booting past 160fsb which is strange because it will boot then blue screen the memory is fine he has ocz ddr2 667 so i think could be dodgey install of windows or could it be the ide controller ? if most cpu's opperate at 200fsb stock then why should this be having trouble

DDR333 mem speed ( the 3:5 divider ) is - like You say - pretty crap and flexibility option also provides poor performance ( maybe even worse!!? ).
Now, if I can keep this setup 100% stable at 9x285 with 2GB mem at DDR400 @ 2.5 3 3 8 1T I'm actually not too disappointed.

right we managed to get a boot at 3.42 but wasnt stable at all itunes erroed with along every program we tried to open aswell as prime95 had errors so had no luck with my friend :(

i dont think that the cpu has hit its limits when im at my friends house again im going to try his cpu in my board and ill let him use my 920 to see what fsb the board will achive then we both got arctic frezzers and im running at 4ghz atm running 1:1 on my asus board reaching 55c load so not that bad eh :)

Alchemist = Mr Vain though, so my thanx stands.
While synthetic memory read bandwidth tests shows a 20-25% boost, real world is more like 0-3% ( but it actually makes a difference ).
Dual Super PI 32M is a memory intensive app.

newegg had some open box ones for $27.00 shipped, I ordered 2, just to hopefully insure atleast one works.
got the $172.00 e6300 from Hardwarerebuild,and have lots of different ddr ram to use, sold my opty 165 motherboard and cpu for $50.00 more than this cpu/motherboard cost, so even at stock i will be happy.
all the info here will help alot, i will def do some volt mods, that is if both boards work from the get go.

I'll probably get the Gigabyte GA-965P-DS4 ( Intel ICH8R ) and while this board does support Kentsfield I don't really care. A $1000 4 core Kentsfield is far too expensive for my needs, I must fill the 2 cores first.

PCie x4 cuts performance by 0-10% depending on app/test, usually the hit is under 5%. Vertex shader takes a larger hit than pixel shader.
HDR takes a hit. The hit is reasonable.

That's with a 7900GTX OC.
This mobo is a love-hate affair, but it's a cool mobo.
I'd suggest; definitely use dual-channel. I've tested single-channel and depending on app it's ~2-10% slower than dual-channel.
Multitasking benefits from dual-channel ( needs mem bandwidth ).
Yes I've tried 2x512MB BH-5 mem on the mobo, and it rocks but a Vdimm mod is needed. This mobo eats Vdimm, 2.7V stable on an other mobo means 2.8-2.9V stable on this one.
Expect an OC of FSB 285-295 ( Orthos stable ) out of the box. Well even better, expect nothing then You won't be disappointed with the board.

I have been running it for months now at 3960Mhz and 3900Mhz without a single problem.
Get plenty of air to the VRM'S.
I'm using cpu water cooling.
I could run my D 805 on stock voltage up to 3360Mhz stable and boot into windows at 3420Mhz.

I accidently went into this thread and was amazed by the goldmine I found here!
I am running a P-D 805 and the vmid for it looks promising!
I'm using Gigabyte GA-8I945P-G-RH motherboard. I am able to change vcore in this board(unlike your board), up to 1.6v. The problem is that this motherboard has a serious vdroop and therefore my real vcore is only about 1.4-1.52when setting 1.6v.
If I use this volt mod for the processor at max voltage(1.6v) will I still be getting this vdroop? or will I infact get 1.6v or very close to it?
I think that's what preventing me from getting 4Ghz stable with the 805. I'm currently able to boot with 190FSB stable, and use Easytunes/Clockgen to get the extra 10FSB to achieve 4GHz(which isn't very stable either). Can't directly boot with 200FSB though.
I would truly appreciate your help guys!
EDIT: temps are great btw...48c full prime95 load, 27c idle.
All I can say is that you can try the 1.6 Pin Volt mod and if it does not improve your volt stability issues, just scrap off the silver varnish (with a knife or needle) and your back to where you were before.Quote:

I would like to know if there is a vdimm mod that consist in connecting the 3,3V line of the PSU directly to the RAM with only a wire.
I've done this mod before on other motherboards but I don't know if it will work on the ASrock 775DUAL VSTA.

It seems like this board can hit 325-335fsb with all the mods. I'm about to order a E6600 for this board, just a few questions. How do I measure the resistence after shading the Vnb and Vagp resisters? Do I touch one lead (from the multi-meter) to the resister the other to the case or one lead to each "leg" of the resister? Does the power needs to be on to check it? Also, did anyone tried Verdeva's pencil vdimm mod? Cuz I don't want to solder if possible.
It seems like Oliver2000 over at VR Zone is having the most success with this board, did anyone else duplicated his settings? (Plus PCI-E 120, AGP 1.94, and NB 1.58) Did you get the same results? If so, what resistence did you use to get to those voltage (for AGP and NB)? Sorry for all the questions, I don't want to fry my mobo when I start modding. Thanks.

i'm concerned about the mosfet/volt regs overheating.
well i've had the 805d/775dualvsta combo for about two months now. With stock Vcore I only got the cpu up to 3140...kinda weak, but I ran it hard for two months and had no problems. After putting off my pin volt mod for too long, I broke out my conductive ink and electrical tape today, very exciting. Unfortunately that wore off quickly as I'm only able to get a 163 FSB overclock (3260) with the 1.5volt mod!!! Absolutely Ridiculous! Bios, & CPU-Z show 1.48-1.5 volts consistently so I know my mod was done correctly (not that I needed that to tell me, I tested my connection with a multimeter and it's nowhere close to touching another pin landing). This absolutely infuriates me and I'm about to piss my wife off and buy a conroe. Any ideas? Alchemist I'll call you out, I've seen you're results here and on other forums as well with this combo!

if u knew more about the board u would no theres no vcore adjustments only agp and ddr. no to be rude or anything. i got my p4 511 2.8ghz on stock volts to bench at 3.9ghz so i think its pretty good. i will try volt mod when my board gets here. first time i had a 1.6 bios chip with a 880 pro/ultra chipset and could hit 3.8ghz benching, it burnt up cuz of stupidity by me lol so i rma it back to newegg. got 2nd board and it came with 1.7 bios chip and a 880 pro chipset and i could bench at 3.9ghz, but the agp slot burnt out of this one dont have a clue y i could run orthos on ram and cpu as long as i wanted with no problems. as soon as i did sumthing 3d related or anything thats using the videocard it locks up so agp slot is defective cuz i tried 2 cards that work great in my other computer. so it went off to newegg today and gonna be waitin for a new one again and i hope its the last time. o ya 3.9ghz with my cpu is 186 fsb and was stable as can be.
When I did the last pin mod fromto1.5 to 1.6volts, the VRM's and mosfets became very warm and there was a burn smell for awhile, but I kept good ventilation around those areas and have had no problems. You may want to consider a dedicated case fan for this area.Quote:

I did all the mods accept the 1.55 volt mod, this gradual burn in perhaps helped the board.
I would not recommend a volt mod from stock to 1.6volts straight away, gradual volt modding is probably safer due to the gradual burn-in process.
Both cores are functional.
I play games for hours with a pc load of 50 t0 60% and CPU gets up to 74° with water cooling.
You will need water cooling to run at above 3800MHz in my opinion.

No mods done, yet, and went from 285fsb to 300fsb stable whit bios 2.10 from 1.90 whit DDR2 at 1:1 -same result whit bios 2.20.
bios 1.90 and DDR1 was stable at fsb 300, so the chipset dont like the higher mem freq.

Hello, I'm searching for a vcore voltage mod, to overclock more my Pentium D 930. At full load the Asrock only gives 1,2V to the processor, where the nominal voltage is 1,3V.
