MSI NX7900GTO T2D512E is 7900GTX?!
-
Yep, 7900GTO is just and underclocked 7900GTX ... I see no h/w differences ...
-
more results please :D
which sli-mod-driver?
-
Thats really a nice and cheap card. Have you tried what its max oc is?
-
guess he used the 85.96 mod-driver
-
Are these the cards sold on ocuk now for 200E?
Edit: link on another thread about this.
-
Samsung lists these chips at 900 MHz. :woot:
I just installed one of those myself. :D
Full fledged GTX at 249€ + shipping !
-
im loving these cards...:D
seem like a right bargin

Are 720/880Mhz the max stable benchable clocks or are you still testing?
Looking very good so far :D
-
stock cooling?
very very nice....
i have ordered two of these :D
Bios 0212? can you send it me please?
-
Hmm, could someone point me GTX bios for this card?
And does this card really support HDCP?

Will these be under $300?
-
They are 225-250€ over here,so I d say yes they will.
-
Looks like I know what my next card is.
-
when are these available and for what north american price? i just bought a 7900GS and now im kinda sad.
-
Maybe the GTO BIOS runs looser mem timings? Not sure about the core though that's weird.
I want these to be out in the US now :D

Why do you have to flash the bios? Why don't you simply set the memory clock higher?
I'm thinking about to sell my two OC'ed 7800 GT and to get a 7900GTO, what do you think about that?
Is the first Stock 7900GTO 3D Mark 06 Bench in SLI Mode or single card?

This is 06 Bench in single card!
-
then whats the diff between these and the 7950 gt? both are underclocked gtx's
-
the 7950gt isn't an underclocked GTX, it has only 1.4ns RAM, the GTO has 1.1ns and same PCB as the GTX.
-
but it's still slower than two 7800gt isnt it?
-

Possibly, but what about the single card price?
Is this available in North America?
-
anyone know if you get the same results with the evga variant? or is this MSI having too many 7900gtx's laying around and rebranding them as 7900gto's?

I ordered the EVGA, so I'll find out soon.
The specs for the card look identical for both though.
-
I am wondering if it can be run in SLi with my current 7900GTX? Has anyone tried yet. I am not against doing a volt mod to get the clocks where they need to be.
-
omg, i just bought 2 of the evga one's. these seem to be the best bang for the buck out there now. i dont even think ill need to flash to gtx (the evga may not be able to anyways).
i was trying to hold off, but this seemed like a nice upgrade from my PM @ 2.4 and x800xt.... e6600, 2x7900gto, 2gb gskill pc6400.
-
Is there any difference between GTO and GTX BIOS other than voltages?
-
I'd like to know this too - I'm in the same boat as afireinside. I'd prefer to just overclock my eVGA 7900GTO that is on the way rather than flash the BIOS. I am planning on sending it in on the step up program and worry that the different BIOS could negate the program.
-
What are you stepping up to... already
I don't want to flash GTX BIOS as that will put me in GTX class on ORB. I'm vmodding anyway so if it's just voltage who cares.
-

Well - I am sorta expecting that the G80 will release about 48 hours after I get my 7900 GTO installed, LOL! Isn't that how it always goes? I didn't want to spring for a 7950GX2 or a 1950XTX right before the DX10 cards came available but I needed something decent to drive me @ 1680x1050 until the next gen cards show up. I'd like for this card to clock up to 7900GTX levels and that would do the trick.

well for dx10 cards to work fully dont we HAVE to have vista? im not going vista in a while . i dont want to pay alot of money and i want it to work out the kinks first. so dx9 will be fine for me unless im mistaken.
-
I'd agree with everything you just said - and then if Vista releases in 1st quarter next year and there is a killer game that I can't live without I'll be right there on the bleeding edge.
Also - as is usually the case, the next gen cards will run DX9 better than then current cards AND will be future proof *sorta*. Basically, everyone will be rushing out to get the latest and greatest and will be trying to catch up with me. Wish I could be more patient
-
I don't see the point on buying an expensive gfx with DX10 before you have a DX10 game to play.
That's why I bought a 7900gto :p:

thats when i gave here the "go big or stay home!" speach:fact:
btw newegg has these for $245 as of today.

i like msi more than evga because evga products have tendencys to blow (7900gt)
msi stuff is hardy... too bad there arnt 7900gto msi here in america... we have evga 7900gtos
i guess ill jump for this
i mean, coolaler had 7k '06
that is insane... for one card
two would mean almost 14k!!!
i guess ill go for this instead of x1900xt or anything else
now to wait untill it gets down to 199... (Im a poor teenager with no job)
-
any news on the eVGA flavors yet? I have two on the way...
-
I get mine tomorrow, but I won't have it running until the weekend. I expect the card to be the same as the MSI.

I don't see the MSI version but the eVGA 512-P2-N573-AR Geforce 7900GTO 512MB 256-bit GDDR3 PCI Express x16 Video Card - Retail is $256 shipped. 99+ units in stock as of right now, so no rush needed. So MSRP is $250, which makes this card a killer deal if anyone puts it on sale. That might not happen depending on what kind of numbers are in the retail channel. Too late for me. I already pulled the trigger on two.
Gah. I hope these are just reflashed 7900GTX that they needed to get out of the retail channel. There couldn't be enough cores that failed to meet required specs to launch yet another model from multiple vendors.
EDIT: Seems as though the Samsung memory was the issue, therefore the spec change on the bios is memory speed.

anyway xtreme (at least for me) does not mean wasting money just to be the first to show off a DX10 GFX running on DX9 games. xtreme waste of money I would say ;) but xtreme

I must say those 3 little chips get very hot indeed... too hot to hold on to
Where normally the little black sink sits, but then on the other side of the card, right between the plastic push pins... unfortunately they're quite small and there's a resistor next to each of them... and the resistor is taller/higher than those chips so they're very very difficult to cool :stick:

It should do 900 right?
No chance of that, not without a volt mod. They physically reworked the cards. The memory maybe 1.1 ns Samsung GDDR3, but with 1.4 ns timings and voltage (1.9V).
-
I was thinking exactly the same HeavyH20...
It's like BH5 mem, that can do 260 to 270 with 2-2-2 timings @ about 3.6v... BUT if you turn the volts down all the way to 2.9 they'd never do 260 2-2-2... unless you've got magic sticks :D
This memory needs a voltmod then, otherwise it won't reach its "rated" speeds.
But will this memory die as fast as with a lot of 7900GT cards?
I'd rather not sacrifice this card
Hmmm... default voltage of the 7900GTX mem is 2.12v... this card however measures 1.81v
Now my question is: what voltage is the absolute limit for 24/7 use
-
is it a risk ? flashing the 7900GTO into a 7900GTX ?
-

My MSI7900GTO overclocks the memory to only 1638 when Atitool crash but the timmings looks tighter than samsung specifications (batch BJ11):
trc: 31 (35) trcdrd: 10 (12)
Trfc: 39 (45) trcdwr: 6 (8)
tras: 22 (25) trrd: 10 (8)
trp: 9 (10)
http://www.samsung.com/products/semi...52324QC.htm#sp
in the link above we can read that the timmings of my GTO are the one used for the BC14 which run at 1400 Mhz
I wonder if relaxing the timmings can give 1800 Mhz as the 1.1 ns samsung volts specificatios are 2.0 v +/- 0.1
could anybody post the details timmings of a 7900GTX using Nibitor????

Ive just done the mod that johnny posted with a pencil (HB couldnt find a 2B). Got it up and running at 2.03V... will have a play around later on with a 2b if i find one. Its definatly helped because on the stock 7900GTO bios im hitting higher frequerncys than when i was using a 7900GTX bios with relaxed timings.
Is it better to have 0 Delta in bios or not?

can you post some screen shots up when you have found the max stable speed? thanks
-
Of course I will... just playing with a GTX bios now. Give me some time to get my stuff together and I#ll have a bash.
-
I worked from the top down to get these numbers.
Cooling Stock AIR | Bios MSI 7900GTX Rev 2 | Delta 50
Mem 2.03v
875 Very minimal but noticable at times
870 Say 1 or 2
865 Completly artifact free and playable
Core 1.4v
720 Artifacts in menu
715 Minor artifacts in game
710 Perfectly fine
F.E.A.R loves it @
710/865 (1730)
Before the mod artifacts would apear above 695/1680 in F.E.A.R on same bios. On stock bios the same numbers were achieved.
3DMark 05... basically I threw it in at the deepend with 710/875 and it got thought it ok but with serious artifacts appearing.
The score is low because what you see open is what I left open I was just trying to see how stable the card was also the CPu is only at 2.5 for the moment.

Thanks Micketh, hopefully tomorrow I can try it on mine.

So pencils work? Nice.. How many times do you have to ''stroke'' it?
My GTO is currently in its box, it doesn't function properly. Screen sometimes flashes black.

The picture says 1.2k to 1.8k
1.2k is the standard resistance indeed!
With penciling you LOWER the resistance... somehow in this case with a HIGHER resistance the voltage goes up, must have to do with the PCB layout or whatever... so penciling in this (my) case gives lower voltages... not good :p:
You know... f**k it... it's a 242 euros card, it runs 700/800 without a sweat and I'm satisfied... no soldering on this one no sir ;)

True, but be careful, those SMDs are small and not so easy to solder, no space around them for error ;)
-
You could practice on an old card.. I have a dead 6800GT lying around, but I can't solder smd components, I can hardly voltmod lol :D
-
Just to clarify: to get 7900GTX performance out of the EVGA 7900GTO can you simply flash the bios with the GTX bios and clock it, or do you need to perform a v-mem mod like johnnyliu3377 did?
-
If it can run GTX speeds then you obviously don't need to flash the BIOS... flashing the BIOS will most likely not improve the overclocking abilities of the card anyway.
If you flash it to GTX however, you can run SLI with a 'real' GTX... that's the only reason I would flash, if I had bought a GTX previously.
-
Has anyone have trouble with these cards not switching from 2d speeds to 3d speeds? For some reason both cards refuse to change from their 275Mhz 2D core speed when any 3d app is run (3Dmark,Aquamark,Oblivion and so on..) so I have been getting some terrible results (65K in Aquamark). I also have no way of changing the clocks as the 2d-3d performance tab does not show up in the overclocking tab (tried about 5 different sets of drivers). Sorry if this is too off topic?
-
Have you tried Rivatuner?
Works flawlessly here...
I can check it with MBM5... I have the MBM which displays all of the DFI sensors correctly
PM me if you want more help

The originally GTX resistor set value:
http://my.so-net.net.tw/johnnyliu/79...900gto.mod.JPG
on the left resistor is 1k ,the right side is 560 ohm
than GTO is left 1.2k and right is 1k ohm

So what do these resistors do ? Do they affect the Vmem in any way ?

2 Attachment(s)
-johnnyliu3377-
You have both cards, GTX and GTO?
Can you confirm this?
Attachment 51961
In GTO 1.2Kohm SMD resistor is REFIN value to ILS6534. Refin value affect FB2 value, which is VDDR out.
Attachment 51962
Is there any other differences between GTX and GTO?
If I get enough information I will make Vmem mod guide to Xtreme mods section :D

and I do these GTO 5 PCS mods is OK, for my friends!

I have to RMA my card, was there from start, high pitched noise during some games in the menus, or animations or when loading up new maps etc (rarely during ingame tho). Faulty cap(s), like 90% sure:
Here's an example I recorded with a mic from FEAR menu http://media.putfile.com/fear-valikoima
Such a shame, clocked up to 700/850 on stock volts & bios... :(
Please Nvidia use better quality on the caps in future thx. :p:
