Metal is only for the Xtreme minds!! :guitar: :rocker:
I like several bands (80's and 90's) but undoubtedly Black Sabbath (with Ozzy) owns them all :worship: :worship: .:rocker: :rocker:
Me.
ROFL When I first read the title, for some reason I comprehended it too literally and thought you were asking me if I was a "metal fan", as in a fan made of metal.
I guess I have fans on the brain.... or its time for bed!
Lately my music motto has been the more pissed off the better. However, I do like to listen to the lyrics, they tend to explain why they're pissed off. I have no idea what they're classified as but I've listend to the Lost and Found disc by Mudvayne since it came out. I bought it because I liked Dig and Not Falling from Ghost Ship the movie. Turns out it was a really good buy. After I found out I liked it I went and bought L.D. 50 and The End of All Things to Come. Another band that I have no idea what they are classified as would be TooL. While I don't agree with everything they sing about, religion, I do like most of their stuff. They are also extremely good in concert, it's hard to believe you aren't listening to the CD. Lately I've been more of an Alternative Rock guy. The best thing that's come out of Canada since maple syrup, Three Days Grace, isn't very far from my car's CD player.
Bigtime metal fan, 1500 watts in my WS6 to abuse those who dare bring on that bass crap next to me. I can be the most annoying mofo at a stop light.
Slayer or Manson in the deck now.
I am :D
I always listen to metal at home :)

sabbath records and mp3'em for them to hear in their camper :D
I love metal! Here's my favorite music

Forgot to post my last.fm.. http://www.last.fm/user/m0p
Don't like the way Last.FM is going though, it's getting more and more bloated, and stuffed with Javascript seemingly every week. I preferred it when they were still using the oldskool Audioscrobbler site, no bloated community bs, none of this useless radio stuff :)
Another metal fan here.
Favorites:
Oldies like Iron Maiden, Metallica (pre-Load period), Manowar, Sepultura and King Diamond
also
Dimmu Borgir (some songs), Theatre of Tragedy (before they went techno), Moonspell, Type O Negative, As I Lay Dying.
I'm pretty much sick and tired of listening the same groups. Please recommend some badass bands/albums.
Favorite metal bands:
In Flames
Demon Hunter
As I Lay Dying
Becoming the Archetype
Rob Zombie
Underoath
The Remnant
KoRn
Rammstein
DragonForce
Bullet for my Valentine
Children of Bodom
And some other ones...
Hell Yeah!!!! Best Comment in the thread so far..! what's even worse are those lawnmower sounding muffers on cars playing the bass crap next to me. frustrates the hell outta me. not to be negative but seriously we don't need people buying that bass crap and putting crappy mufflers on cars that should'nt have them, while driving by me with a smug face? I just don't get it? It makes me laugh , but is also makes me angry at the same time. :DQuote:

edit: I see it turned out a bit long..
I grew up listening to alot of different types of music, everything from Classical to 90s "hip/hop, so I can not say I have a particular favorite. Metal on one hand, because most of my friends were into metal so I listened to it all.
AC/DC, Metallica, Megadeath, Ozzy/BLack Sabbath, Kiss, Iron Maidan, Slayer, Pantera, NIN, etc.
Then there is the glam metal/rock Warrant, White Lion, GNR, Skid ROw, Motely Crew.....damn its been along time, I don't remember half the groups.
I prefer Pink FLoyd, Doors, Led Zepplin, Hendrix, along the lines of the 60s and 70s.
yeah, it was a really wierd story about how i found out about them. they deffiently have a very good sound to them that isnt very common in north american metal.Quote:

Funny you should mention them. They're from my town (Adelaide, South Australia) and I'm a friend of Michael Crafter, IKTPQ's singer from 2001 till this year. He's a bit of a :banana::banana::banana::banana: though, haha.Quote:

As far as metal goes, I love everything from Burzum to Dragonforce. From Anorexia Nervosa to Wig Wam! I love melodic-death mainly these days, so you've got bands like Disarmonia Mundi, In Flames, Dark Tranquillity, Scar Symmetry, Raunchy, Children of Bodom (I consider them melo-death), Naildown, Amon Amarth, Norther, Soilwork and so forth.
I'm open to black metal, death metal, thrash metal and power metal. I love it all.

Be it that Grunge/Alternative were just that alternative to then "old" school metal or hiphop, not a lot of choice in my book.
Hell there was not much of a difference in style, well except for more flanel shirts :-P
Bloody Pearl Jam. :p:Quote:

Hey sneaky if I send you a 50+ GB Drive can you make an image and load theto it? ;)Quote:

Heck yes! More melo-death that I forgot to list. Insomnium are the stuff! :cool:Quote:

why do I only see a single entry with Soilwork, namely my own?! :D
Try listening to a few of their songs, they're great... Departure Plan, Distortion Sleep, Song of the Damned, Nerve, Stabbing the Drama, Weapon of Vanity... The list of good songs goes on :p:
Best Regards :toast:
I don't really listen to Linkin Park.. I failed to properly express the sarcasm there; but fhpchris - I'm flattered.
Metal is an ever changing genre, every 2-3 years it seems to be totally redefined by the media.
Some of the Some-what metal-like bands I listen or used to:
Sepultura (check out new album 'Best of')
Nightwish
Iron Maiden
Cradle of Filth
Rammstein (early stuff)
some SlipKnot (idk wtf kids call it nowadays "Nu" metal?!)
Well if slipknot is there, than System of a down is "Nu Metal"
I also enjoy a lot of industrial like:
Marilyn Manson
Nine inch nails
Mindless self indulgence
Front 242
Prodigy (techno?)
and then also Crystal method
and while we're on the topic of non-related to thread things I like - red caviar, I like red caviar on white bread with butter.
Danzig,
opinions?
Hey I'm listening to soilwork right now :DQuote:

Iron Maiden
Judas Priest
Megadeth
slayer
killswitch engage
Shadows fall
Black label society
probably a bunch of others I forgot also.
Since you asked I play guitar haven't had a chance to play much metal recently becuase the drummer who I knew that could actually play metal moved.
Maybe because you skipped my post? :p:Quote:

I would consider myself an avid metal fan, and I play the bass and sing/growl for a couple of local bands. A few of my favourite bands include Emperor, Morbid Angel, Slayer, Nile, Nevermore, Arcturus, Death.
In combination with the new XS-logo, I thought I'd change my avatar a little. It's based on a t-shirt design from Morbid Angel (link, attachments don't seem to work). Quite fitting I think.:)
Cool to see that the Xtreme Owner is into metal as well!
Like Danzig the person, but not Danzig the band. I love the Misfits, though. That's probably because I'm more of a punk myself. I love just about all punk, not a big fan of metal, but for some reason I really like Motorhead and Rammstein.Quote:

I've seen this one meantioned more than a few times. I assume everyone is talking about the black album and everything previous to that? 'Cause Load and everything later is certainly NOT metal.
*raises hand*
Got another one here, fellas. Being a guitar player, I listen to lots of guitar-based stuff, but mostly hardcore/metal. Band names? Here's a top 20 that's been on the playlist lately...
August Burns Red
The Number 12 Looks Like You
Lamb of God
Unearth
Kayo Dot
Mastodon
Bleeding Through
Between the Buried and Me
Embrace the End
Every Time I Die
Job For A Cowboy
It Dies Today
Martyr AD
All That Remains
Pantera
Trivium [yeah, I know, I know...]
Botch
Bloodlined Calligraphy
God Forbid
And of course...DETHKLOK :rocker: :rocker:
:D
Bloodsimple, waking the cadaver & soilwork might be a few newage bands that are pretty good:cool: I've caught myself listening to them occasionally.
I forgot yngwie malmsteem in my last post...the guitar god! next to dime of course:toast:
