pls. test max. Fsb...
if you can :toast:
...thanks regards -dyn

i don't think that's intel chipset >>> nvidia chipset that gets hot is located under the fan ;)
-
Damn - I wish this had been released a few weeks ago. Looks like it will be a good board.
-
@ Dynasty
well it seems they'll only do around 350MHz FSB (unless retail board will do more.....who know more mature bios and all :))
http://www.tweaktown.com/articles/926/
tweaktown motherboard had active cooling on that passive heatsink as well (reference board >>> gues final version can do with it)

I can't wait to see the potential of this monstrous one! :woot:
-
350 fsb is not to good.....350 x 11 & your already maxed out on air :p:

you'd need more to max out on air as well LOL!

kan anyone see where the 12v stick goese in? i like the clearance around the cpu socket :D looking forward to the results?
-
:) Hoho~~We will use 2x7950GX2 from Winfast and do a Quad SLI test.
And the Extreme FSB will be......Haha, please wait for our results!!
busy with the MB now~~:D

not support my usb-dvdrw ......
-
not supported ? at all even in windows ? or you can not boot from it ?
i have not been able to boot with my 2x NEC 3550a drives when using them in a USB enclosure.
ive tred with a few different motherboards and none of them will boot to a usb cdrom.
but im jumping to conclusions.
so not compatible means ?

I always use usb-cdrom install my system
now I have to use IDE-CDROM ....
because when i use usb-cdrom,the debug LED shows 50....cant continue....:slapass:
-
lol don't waste time with that stuff dude heheheh
get cracking pronto
-
hehe dinos gets right to the point:) I am hoping for good results my fingers are crossed. X X
-
Been waiting for someone to have a play with one of these boards....
-
How would the Default Vapochill Lightspeed Clamshell fit on the Board?
Would it need the 775 Kit Instead or is the Previous Clamshell sitting for a Snug Fit ?
-
-
And it happens again :)
Hope it is bug-free and I mean its not like many 975/965 ones...
-
According to the 590 Amd edition manual, you must enable an option in the bios for usb keyboard-storage,so check it before telling it don't work

We did it, of course....but it doesn't work either.
And it also stoped when running 3Dmark 06.....We put two more fans at the MB and it's working now, maybe it's the NB's problem, as you can see, there is no fan there......:(
-
yeah thats kinda weird, they but a fan on the southbridge but the Northbridge that gets way hotter get only passive cooling.
i dont get DFI's logic :stick:
-
oh man let me say it again
nvidia chipset is not the same as Intel.........the actual chipset that is supposed to get hot and does most work is under the copper cooler with a fan
-

Have you got any link to how hot a 590 northbridge gets ?
You cannot put a passive cooler on the southbrdige as it will be tall and perhaps restrict the video card caps etc so they have gone for a low level active heatsink on the southbridge which seems sensible.
The limitation on the overclock seems to be the nvidia chipset not what DFI are doing. DFI seem to be doing the best of a bad lot.

Andy

This + 6700 + g80 = my new rig.
That is if all goes well. :)
-
Soo... do we have a max fsb yet ???
Btw, the sli-dr got BLAZING with the same cooler, only copper, and if just barely oc'd by like 5% would stop and hang after some torture testing. Nvidia always had a eat problem. Im not taking chances and slapping custom stuff on both.
-
Now there's an eye catcher:)
-
Looks solid. Waiting for the review
-
Oh sooo sweeet
Cant wait to see wht its made of :fact:
-
The layout is a bit funked up... should have had the DIMM slots towards the back (I/O side) of the board, then shift the NB and CPU socket slightly away from that side, and finally put the VReg/8-pin near the front side of the board... oh well :(
-
Hmm... nothing like the smell of high expectations and impeding disappointment?
Not to be the scarecrow, but remember, this had difficulty even reaching 350 on a good day. If your 965s or 975s fail to reach 400 or 450, you already call them a p.o.s...

too bad this is coming out before the rd600 board.
Edit - i read the tweaktown article and they never said this board maxes out at 350.
They said the reference board does.
So dont dissmiss this thing yet.

Just as I thought, nVidia always made crappy chipsets but because there wasn't any better on the AMD site everybody bought them. Just compare the nForce 2 with the i875 and you know what I mean.
For the A64's you can't really do wrong because the IMC is in the CPU and you have a HTT multiplier.
-
At the risk of getting flamed, DaWaN makes a damn good point...

They can flame as much as they want, but their expectations were too high anyway.
-
Lets see if they can OC the FSB as high as 500, like some P5B Deluxe's..........if not, then this board cannot compare to the P5B or the DS3 in terms of OCing......from what we have seen in the reference boards, they cant do more then 350, wich sucks........i will switch to this board if it can do 500 fsb.

Well I don't say the nForce chipsets really suck. The connectivity options in the nForce chipset were great and options like the combined IDE / Sata RAID and 2 Ethernet ports teaming too. But the thing is that nVidia doesn't seems to have enough time and money to develop the best memory controller and optimize the FSB link to allow maximum overclocks. Also the stability doesn't seems to be the best point of nForce chipsets (mostly driver problems but still stability is very important imo). Although with VIA and SIS and ULi as competitors it isn't really hard to make the best chipset. And as I said before on the A64 almost everything that is essential for overclocking has to do with the CPU bios and board design, the chipset doesn't make that big difference anymore with the memory controller intergrated in the CPU.
But on the Intel side we have Intel itself too on the chipset market. They have the money and the knowledge of building a superb chipset. The thing is that intel doesn't really focus on overclocking, but still the chipsets they make are awesome and don't think that a cheaply designed chipset can meet the performance of an Intel chipset.
The only advantage of this chipset over the i975 and i965 is the 48 PCI-e lanes it got, in SLI that's alot faster.
ATI does seem to focus on overclocking and that's why I'll give them a chance. Still I need to see some result before I really start to believe in the RD600. The i975 and the i965 aren't that simple to beat !!
-
expreview, thanks for the high-res picture... I think I'll use it as my desktop background for the week!

Yup totally agree with you here. They pioneer some pretty damn cool technologies (Soundstorm, Dual Channel DDR, ActiveArmour etc. together with the new features you mentioned on nF5xx). However, none of them seem to work as promised, and as you said stability is a major issue.
Maybe because they are the forefront of developing these things they are forced to learn from their own mistakes...?

That's exactly what I was thinking when I saw it...active SB okay but that AND a passive NB...?!

Having just come over to Intel after many years of AMD, I can say that your observations are not correct. It is common, if not the norm, for the NVidia chipset to be cooled in this manner. Do a search for most, if not all, of the new 570 and 590 chipset boards, as well as the NF4 32X series. Basically, they are alomst all cooled passively. Most notably, the Asus and Abit. I own an Abit AN8 32X and the chipset closest to the cpu socket was cooled with nothing more than a heatsink, no fan.
http://www.hothardware.com/image_pop...icleid=806&t=a
The above link is to a pic of the AN8 32X. Note the small, passive heatsink on that chipset.

I honestly think that this will turn out to be yet another nForce 4, since that the only thing they changed was the name (5xx).
The 570 SLI-IE is another C19 and yet, it's in the nForce 5xx series, so what's there to be excited about, when we know the outcome of such product will be?
-
Please please please let me know if this goes over a 350FSB!!!

from what we know so far, it doesn't really. the ES of this doesn't realyl break 350 and the production ASUS P5NSLI Socket T (LGA 775) NVIDIA nForce 570 SLI Intel Edition doesn't either according to anandtech.
-
Hrm.
Again, nforce sails ahead and rd is close behind. I smell the fog i smelled when half the public bought sli as soon as it came and half waited for crossfire. One was a half flop, the other was 2/3s. Could it all be happening over? I think it could. Ati didn't learn much from last time did they... tsk tsk *sigh*. Well, at least they make great cards. Why though, WHY must they always be in the shadow of nvidia!?
I wonder if amd will give them the push they need to come ahead, and crush the one that consumed 3dlabs.
Btw, im an ex-owner of 4 nvidia cards, 0 ati cards, with a 7900GT waiting to arrive. Go figure huh.

Crush the one that consumed 3DLabs? Who, Creative? :p:
If you're referring to nvidia, then I think you mean 3DFX. ;)

hoho...philips , you should work overnight for this review :D

Hmmm, this might be the board that my friend wants. Though I'm still waiting for the RD600 before I make my choice...

JUST MY OPINION: rd600 will fnck 590 up.

To be fair, from the previews we have seen m0da is probably right... and looking at my sig, I think it's fair to say I ain't an ATI fanboi ;)

If you're able please test this quad sli config w/ 2560x1600 resolution. I'm real interested in this as what you have is pretty much my next system. :)

What happened to the review.........or was this a FAKE!?!?!.......doesnt take 5 days to do a review.
-
i think he didnt post because he couldnt get much out of the board..
thats my take at least.

I will have this board in my hands tomorrow. Hopefully I can push it beyond 333FSB.

Wow! That motherboard is pimp looking!

Hey, nV guys, what's the point? Sooner or later, we'll find out anyway. Besides, some already spilled the benas that this is a poor overclocker :slapass:
-
Yea im looking forward to the results my self :)
-
Some sites already tested this board with a NVidia reference board. They already proved what everybody thought, NForce for Intel arent great overclockers. Surely feature wise the NForce 590 is nice, specially if you wanna run SLI without modded drivers on a crossfire chip.
But overclocking monster? Not at all and I doubt DFI could have changed that.

The FSB is limited to 325 in the bios, in windows they have been able to take it to 332 max........acording to vrzone............disapointing, looks i made a great choice with the P5B Deluxe.

Yea, that is what I miss about OC'ing a A64, unless you were trying to get 1:1 with the RAM and/or play with the RAM timings you could get a pretty good OC on all but the crappiest mobo.
I like my C2D alot but look forward to what K8L has to offer...

wow so many slots!! very nice board
