I've put what's left of the old farm back on this project but it's not really a farm anymore. Hopefully some others can transfer a few MHz to help hold them off.

omg this should not happen.
I try saving some energy until december for my electric bill (this definitly will hurt this year) but reading this, I stopped my dual P3 and started the c² X2...maybe I can get around the D2OL installation bug on my 3200+ on work, then I could finally switch it from R@H to D2OL.
Hopefully some people will move from R@H to D2OL ;)
Jeff thanks for your support of Rosetta back in January... first post here.
So for that, I am full power with everything on D2ol. We all worked too hard last year to give it up to a group of ice cream wannabe's. I'm here to help.
putting a SD3700 on it now, and an X2-4200 when I get a new UPS. Both run about 2.5Ghz. They are here to stay as well, sick of the stuff happeing in Rosetta.
EDIT:-
Appears the server is down... all other net apps running fine, even turned Firewall off totally, still no go.
(I forgot the servers have a habit of doing that on this project... ah well, try again later)
EDIT 2:-
Registration server is back up, joined, and crunching. X2 will go on (24/7) as soon as I get a UPS
yepp there was a bit downtime today, but since one or two hours everything is fine again. Was the first downtime since a long time (which I remarked).
Anyway just uploaded 150 for today, hope we can get ARS and DPC behind us again daily.
I've started running it and had my first points updated :D. I only have it on my parents A64 at the moment but annoyingly it's the most powerfull I have. One Q though is there anyway to upload the compleed results manually? :toast:
hehe yes I saw your one point in the morning when I went to bed (skipped sleeping the night :D)Quote:

:woot: Good to hear a few are coming back/starting up!
Are the stickies still relevant to the client, or are there any other tweaks for it?
thanks
I'll put my P3-800 back to the project, Rosetta does almost nothing for the old rigs anymore. It runs offline as well, so D2OL is a better project (if the servers are online, lol).
ok, my core 2 duo is doing very little right now. How can i help?
hmmm what do you mean with little? I only have my A64 running overnight and it can do ~100 on each core/night (21-9).Quote:

@Martijn hehe P3 rockz  have a dual 933MHZ running for it and it does not that much, but enough for his energy when running 24/7.
btw: the project isn't down that often as it was during phase I. I was very happy the last weeks as it really was what I would call "stable" maybe once a month with some downtime, but personally I haven't remarked more.
@Max Tractor hmmm don't know about the tweaks but the client and the system is the same as when I started D2OL (almost a year ago now)
I'll start up later this week.
Perkam
Good to have a stable connection then :) . What about the candidate/point issues? Still got cands that won't get points if you return them?
EDIT:
I already did 2 candidates in the last hours!! YEAH!! :p:
If you have a fast Rig, you'll see a lot more WU's returned than you did on Rosetta...Quote:

Yep... only pulled 500 or so down, see how it goes for now... a bit weird not setting the Queue size to 2000...
That sucks. I'm now stuck with 2000 cands on my P3, lol... What can I do about it? The program won't remove them when I set my queue lower, isn't it?:(
The client is running very well, and doing very well indeed on my opteron
1. go offlineQuote:

@Max Tractor indeed :D
Milestones Today
max_tractor passes 100
max_tractor passes 200
All rigs are back on D²OL right now... they'll never know what hits them:D
Picked up another few and added the other nodes, great stuffQuote:

Thanks SoF! :toast:
I'm in. I'll switch over my DX rig when I get home from work

Team, we need more power... DPC is spitting out almost twice the points we crunch.
We can not go down without a fight, can we?
Wait, let me refrase that:
We refuse to go down at all !!!
I will switch my third DX to D²OL tonight, but that means my output in WCG will drop to zero, Leiden Classical and QMC are also set up on my remaining XP2200+ cruncher, so those numbers will 'only' drop about 50% :(
Maybe we could convince Victor to keep a few dedicated rigs on D²OL while he's switching over his farm to WCG? Good idea or not?
Hmm I hoped their output will go down after a month or so but as it isn't the case we really could need some of Victor's power to keep us #1.Quote:

We really need to push daily output a bit
I know, as soon as i get home from work tonight I'll switch DX3 over, but I would like to keep the XP on the other projects... I hate it when results in my sig have zero output. I also think DPC will keep output high till they catch us, unless we counter them by raising our daily fast to show them any action against us is futile;)Quote:

I have been noticing this too. The cows have been out producing us since I started. I have a couple of rigs on QMC, going for #1 there also. We are gaining pretty fast, so I will pull one of them and put it on D2OL. Just a quick question though. When installing on a new machine, do I put in the node ID that I already have?
You don't have to use the same node, but you can if you want to... I use the same node on all my rigs.Quote:

@Jeff :woot: nice to see you around here again
@4X4N: As Duc said, or I do it a bit different (for better stats :D ) with simply installing everytime and entering existing account (email), activating it afterwards on d2ol.com under "my nodes" after login there.
I'm think about a better sys for my server in a month but I'm not sure about it yet. Maybe good 2500+ Barton, it's currently 1.7GHZ celi :stick:
Well, I screwed up and put in my e-mail and it assigned me a different node id. I guess it doesn't really matter. Anyway, I put a 146 opty @ 2.75 on it. That should put me above 300 cands a day. That's about all I can commit right now. Once we have a comfortable lead in QMC, I can pull the x2 4200 from it and put it on D2OL. If we are close to losing #1 here first, I'll add it then.
Just make sure you go to d2ol member area and 'add node'Quote:

are we still getting beat at D2ol?
Would my four cores come in handy?
Ed.
Yes, the cows doubled our output today. I might pull my rigs off WCG if this keeps up.
Once my P3 finishes its first (and only) test in SoB, I'll put it on D2OL again. Same will go for my A-XP.
Currently, there are ~30 days left before they overtake us. If nothing can be done, I'm willing to throw in the D820 :)
Very handy... we can use anything you throw at us;)Quote:

|EDIT| added an X2 @ whatever, I can't remember what clocks I set at the moment. also 1 core of a 2ghz yonah.
Soon to add (hopefully); 3000+ @ 2.6ghz, Stock FX-53, P4 1.8ghz @ 2.1ghz and stock P4D 915.
Hey, has anyone given D2OL a try on conroe?
No wonder we're losing, I just checked free dc stats and I'm the number 10 producer today...
dc stats have not been updated for majority of today
Those DPC chaps are powering on
My PC's been down all day because I installed Server 2003, but now it doesnt seem to be processing cands anywhere near as fast...
d2ol Isint a 64-bit program is it?
Ed.
Nope, 32-bitQuote:

Looks like we've ramped up a bit... we need just a little more though. ;)
There is only about 20 of us
my Dual P3 is back crunchin'
I have a week holiday and will be home a lot, so my production will go up a bit, aiming for 50k end of this week :D
It's about time... weren't you supposed to try and catch me?:p:Quote:

If i can i'm gonna crunch like never before :D
although at a lower pace then before seeing as this thing isn't really the most power frendly thing.... and i don't wanna get charged more on my bill
WISH ME LUCK
good luck fixing it :toast:

So it installs the files to disk, reboots, does the whole country/language thing for 30 minutes, reboots, goes into windows , you can see "welcome" flashing and it reboots again. Result= Corrupt install files and i can begin again. think it has something to do with othr partitions on the drive? i got a C and D on the HDD already but its loaded with stuff i CAN NOT afford to lose.
So this install's letter is F now, but that shouldn't be a problem normally....
Anywho if you can help me out with idea's i'd be a very happy man :)
I'm thinking it could be a low voltage isseu but it doesn't make since since its Uwired and running at stock for the duration of the install....
HDD's are 100% fine, PSU is new and a 550 Watt Enermax with 2 12V rails designed for Dual Xeons....
its in essence a server, the PSU is server grade, mobo and cores and server grade, only thing not server grade is HDD's and GPU
The thing even refused to post on me unless i had my floppy drive connected...
ITS ALIVE!!!!!!!!!!!! ALIVE I TELL YOU!!! ALLIVEEEE!!!!!! I HAVE CREATED LIFEE!!!!!!!
MWAHAHAHAHAAAAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHAHHAAAAHAHAHA HAHAHAHA
In other words: The fekker's back up and running :D Drivers as good as installed gonna start updating the lot now
Going off line on lappy to update the DX now, haven't gotten my new switch yet
what a bi*** this rig is being...
All drivers installed but can't get SP2 or 1 on it, so i'm downing a slipstreamed XP SP2 cd to avoid hassle, expected up time:
Tonight at around... 8PM or later.
#1 ? What happened - I didn't even know I was still crunching :O
Must be those installs I did on a whole bunch of office pc's back where I worked last summer :P installed as services.... lol
Kewl...

I Need to get my hyperthreaded P4 on to help me crunch some more, i'll do it when i have the time :x...
Oh ya, an odd question, why is my pagefile overloaded after a few hours I run this D2OL program? I've got like 3GB Page file in usage..... Odd O.O.
-Jo
hmm check the memory usage for each thread of GridWin, each thread of d2ol is using around 75 megs of memory, that is 55,000k for Gridwin and 21,000k for D2ol.Quote:

Yes Yoad check this, 54/15mb here for each instance. Never heard of problems with the pagefile.Quote:

It's odd because I usualy run on 500MB Pagefile usage no more........ anyway a restart solved it so I don't care.
:)
Anyways, Still crunching!
I think I had this spare raptor lying around somewhere around here, i'll hook it up to my P4 3.2GHz hyperthreaded tomorrow if I can find it :) .
Let's get those dutch cows' asses aye ? :p
-Jo.
AYE bud http://ugly.plzdiekthxbye.net/small/s386.gif http://ugly.plzdiekthxbye.net/small/s123.gif
My X2 is back again as well, no idea why it refused booting, but taking everything out (socket was totally dry) and putting together again solved it for any reason and it was stable overnight :)
just brought 4 more nodes on line.
We're a trucken guys :D
I added a little Sempron 3100+ to the task... ;)
c'mon people, crunch some more ey? :o
we need more power, im pushing my hardware here to the limits, three PCs [one really weak though, the other is medium, the third is my primary one, a C2D powerd machine], but even though, add my daily crunching to duc and the rest of you, and MAYBE we get as close as the daily candidate bandwith that one of the top three dutch power cows members is doing...(they have three members that each upload like 20k per day..... thats nuts, we need either more people to help us or a couple of people who can match those top three dutch's lol)
just a thought :p
I'm doing my best, anyway!
-Jo
Maybe I'll help a bit when DPC gets too close but at the moment I'm doing my best in WCG. :)
I need to get my opteron into action, so any recomendations on the cheapest possible overclockable 939 motherboard and cheapest possible stable psu?
cheers, Ed.
I had an ASUS A8N5X, nForce4 and it went up to 280 HTT with no problems (and no testing at all, not voltage increasments on chipset but possible in bios as far as I remember), enough options for overclocking regarding vcore and vdimm...63€ new around germany, maybe a good choice for you as well.
cheap psu? hmmm my Levicom Visible Power is now a year old and followed me until my X2 and is still stable. it always did a good job so far.
I checked and the 500W versions are not there anymore, only 450W but I think for 37€ there is no better PSU in my eyes.
Everything I have is running for the moment... all on D²OL except one rig on QMC/Leiden/Dimes.
I am purchasing an appartement at the moment, so funds are rather low when it comes to buying computer-related stuff;)
eddieate, I have a xclio 450bl psu powering a msi neo 2, 6800gs, and 144 opty at 2.9ghz. I think it's less than $50 here, not sure about UK. Seems to be a decent psu.
Welcome aboard Yoad. @eddieate pick up a cheap 350w FSP can be had for around 28/30 gbp, very reliable. Barton/Duron/Venice/Opteron all pumping 24/7, another opteron by next week. Some more/new members crunching would be a help
cheers for the recommendations guys, I noticed that Overclockers.co.uk have an OCZ modstream cheap this week.
I'll check out that Levicom, xclio and FSP.
Looks like the teams getting back up to speed ;)
Thanks, Ed
I lost my piece of the pie today. :( 29 users returning work, most I have seen. Plus, as of right now, we beat the cows today. :woot:
Only just scraping Pie myself
I need a couple more rigs and another 100mhz of X2 powah would help I guess:cool:
Ed.

Hopefully, I did not overestimate my total daily production, will soon find out after 3 or 4 days of production.
As for the top 10 that will take a while to catch up if I ever do. When reading the forums in XS.org I see some mighty powerfull machines. I obviously O/C or I would not be here. But not as much as some of the people on this forum.
Throw at it what you can, whether it be 1 or 20 rigs, all is good
550 a day would kick ass! Welcome to the team :toast:
No update today for me on free-dc
