How is different than the 1101 already out?
Asus posted 1101 a couple of weeks ago then pulled it and now its back as "Updated". No word on the difference but some users were having issues with the originally posted version before it was pulled.
Topboy
What site are you going to where it shows it as updated?
I went to the asus global->support and they still have 0801 in the bios download section.
i went to the global site too and clicked on the download link at top. This fired up another browser session where you can search for the type of MB you have. It was under the ALL catagory
Asus Update is shows the same information as the "old" 1101...

The file on the ftp servers has a date of 8/11. :confused:Quote:

But when you extract it, the rom file shows 8/8.Quote:

No thanks, had enough of that one last time it was out.Quote:

Some "Extreme Overclockers" huh ?
It would be VERY bad on ASUS' part to release 2 different BIOS versions under the same exact name-regardless of how short the first one was posted or how small the changes are/were.
I doubt it's different. This would be VERY bad revision history practice. Of course it is ASUS after all...
That said though, someone be the guinea pig and try this sucker out!:)
Hmm.
Well, i've got it on my P5W DH and i'm only seeing 360 FSB on water @ 1.485V
I've tried all the fixes on the Probelms/Fixes thread. I'll have to double check my 6600's stepping when I get back home, or get this stupid attachement ot open. Freakin' work email strips anything useful coming in I swear.
This is a bit OT, but I just got my P5W DH today and there isn't a sticker on the box that tells what bios is loaded. I'm not gonna have my e6600 for another week or so. Is there any way to tell what bios I have? It does say on the label that it supports core2duo end core2extreme. I've just seen other folks in here say that some had stickers that stated what bios was loaded.
Ain't on the box - just on the BIOS chip itself. And it's usually wrong anyway. If it says 0701, you're good for C2D.Quote:

OH MY GOD
This is not good
Just updated the bios with this 1 in EZ Flash in the bios.
It erased the bios and when it went to read the floppy bios file it said could not read file. GREAT 3 day old board and a dead mobo.
Im so sick of Asus, ive had nothing but problems with this board since new, and not even overclocked at all. Installed with default settings in bios all safe settings. Still was unstable as hell.
So i have a 60 mile drive tomorrow to take the board back and im changing it for something else.
Please recommend a new motherboard manufacturer for my C2D
Many Thanks in advance
Ugh, still got the rig on?Quote:

Because the filename is too long. You should have type "dir" in dos and it would show as p5wdh1~1.rom and you just type that instead.
Anyway.. have you tried the bios recovery tools explained in the manual???
Before the MB bios was wiped, the seting in bios were set to boot from harddisk only.
I was using the EZ Bios update thing in the bios when it did the following.
1. Erased the bios
2. Failed to read floppy drive new bios file.
3. rebooted machine and it does nothing.
4. Inserted Asus CD and it does nothing
Anything else i can do....Thanks for the advice
have you tried the thing where u're supposed to leave a floppy with the bios file name p5wdh.rom in for 5 minutes????????
This is why I tell people to use afudos :)
so is this what your telling me to do lawrywild
create a floppy with JUST the p5wdh.rom file on it
boot machine with floppy in and leave machine for 5 minutes with floppy in.

Same BIOS. Never disappeared from the ftp, never got updated either. ASUS needs to fix their damn servers, under heavy load old cache contens is served (hence new files tend to disapear from the web sites.) BTW, all files on the ASUS web sites are marked "updated" :stick:
ok going to give it a go because im supposed to be working on compny systems tonight remotly via vpn and i cant even do that Grrrrrrrrrrrr.
thanks for the advise will report back later
i rmaed my board and it came back with a 1001 bios and a 1.85vmch. but the rev is still the same 1.02 made in taiwan.
Never have seen a bios 1001.Quote:

Yeah, upload that BIOS, that would save me a lot of troubles with modding my board... :p:
Nice, very nice, 1.85v MCH, it could be very usefull... please upload it to us :p:Quote:

1001 1,85V ?
Speciall made of 0801 1,85V ?
Thanks for the info. I opened it up this morning and found 0701 label on the bios. Looks like I'm good to go. Thanks again!Quote:

No 1,85 here :(
Ah. then it could be h/w. where to see the serial number. I've yet to try out the
vmch cos i already got myself a new mobo.
You can see it on board or the package..
which part on the board? my package is still the original board which i rmaedQuote:

@Interloper_PL
Whats u`re number ?
Kind`a strange, that some1 got it some1 not....
Maybe it's a mistake in the 1001 bios.Quote:

Test point: http://www.vr-zone.com/index.php?i=3876
it reads 1.6 at stock
1.93 at 1.85 setting
bios setting
1.55 min to 1.85 max
Whats the date of this bios?
Besides the vmch any improvement with memory timings/dividers or ocing?
never oc cos i got another board already. i just leave it on the test bench cos of you guys since i need to retrieve the bios and try the vmch. will be keeping it in box after today.

I wonder if another setting somewhere in the bios could affect what MCH voltage appears.
Maybe Performance mode: normal -> 1.5-1.65v / turbo -> 1.55-1.85v etc.
Or having a certain AINOS setting selected could make it appear ??

He's confirmed that he's got a different chip to the rest of us though hasn't he? I can't check my board because it's at work, but I know I've never seen a VMCH option over 1.65v.Quote:

However, on the other hand, it must be a very simple hardware change for them to keep the same board revision.
It would be interesting to see what would happen if that particular board is flashed with the 1101 bios.
Would the higher voltages remain
My bios chip says 0502, will I be able to boot with a conroe:(
Prolly not, but a few folks had their BIOS chips say 0501 and actually had 0701 on it.Quote:

You see the chip labelled RT9214
What does the chip in that position on your board say?
edit: actually everyone please post what the IC there says
Anyone know if ES chips work wtih this bios?
they workQuote:

i've flash back to 801 bios. seems like no problem already. the vmch stays at 1.85, so i guess its hardware and not bios. seems like the 1001 very very very buggy.
I found the 903 to be the best so far. I might even try the 701 again; I never got a chance to mess with it.
With 701/078 bioses My E6700 (ES) was not recognized and could't even boot ( no post at all )
So with 1101 bios I feel fine and lucky at 3.5 ghz stable 24/7 dual prime ( 24h testing 57° cpu and 39° mobo ) and noticed I could evn lower my Vcore - actually 1.48v bios vs 1.51 few days ago ( 1.43v with pc probe )
Some others with 1101 noticed that too .
Maybe could you give a try :)
could u pls give us some screen shot of ur vmch while in windows?Quote:

I don't remember seeing asusprobe showing vmch in windows. any other s/w can show? anyway, the 1001 bios very buggy. i had a lot of strange problem with it.Quote:
