New bios 97TID816.BIN will issue tomorrow
It was unable to 400mhz originally, now can be easy to 435MHZ
power by oskar:toast:
very nice result :toast:
keep em comming
Sweet. Nice bump on the FSB for the entry level DFI 975x mobo via the bios update. Maybe a bit more out of the "deluxe" DFI 975x when it arrives?
Any chance we can see 9x435 or more soon? Boots up at 435 right? No Windows based FSB OC software correct?
thanks for the update Coolaler
question thou ... with the new bios you say it can do 400+mhz easy now , will it do 9x400+ with a e6600 ?
yes!from bios setting and boot in 435+ stableQuote:

Nice results, Coolaler! What do you thinks is the best conroe OC motherboard now?:)

hope DFI's RD600 board won't let us down this time.:)
4mb cache :ASUS w64 pro ? <-- i didnt see that board doing as high as the P5B. or did i miss some new overclocks on the Pro ?
i see people claiming 500mhz cold bootable from the bios on a 6600 with the P5B.
i dont know though seems pretty odd.. i dont see everyone screaming to go buy that board :\
Man I really want this bios because i'm stuck at 370 with my E6400 and i975 infinity :stick:
I'd buy the P5B if it wasn't a 965 chipset and didn't allow me to run multiple GPU's. It would be nice if the results of the P5B would fall over into the P5W.Quote:

if oskar does as good on this bios like he did for dfi nf3 mobo ( best mobo i've owned so far) then it should be a hell of a board.
I want to see what people can get with this BIOS once it comes out tomorrow. It still seems like a decent affordable board. If we can get some low to mid 400's I'll be happy. Bring on more results!
Exciting! Do you reckon soon will be this Friday, or end of August?Quote:

Excellent, have this mobo on my desk now. :toast:

Andre Yang did 470+ FSB with no mods on Asus WS PRO, and it is the fastest @ 32m pi.Quote:

this is with the 4:3 divider.
I see however, that your able to run 4:5 and get it stable at over 950 mhz.
for me, the 950 mhz wall for ram, is the biggest obstacle I have for this board.
any other mode besides 4:3 is impossible with this board.
hopefully this new bios addresses that.
The P5W is defenitly not the best overclocking motherboard out right now. The P5B is much better and the Asus server boards are probably better as well. The biggest issue with the P5B is it doesn't support any Multi-GPU setup like the P5W. But that fact doesn't somehow make up for it not reaching as high clocks as the P5B.Quote:

I'm not sure which ones will but I now there aren't many. Rule of thumb though is a 965 chipset will not support Crossfire or Sli (even with hacked drivers) and a 975 board WILL support crossfire or Sli (w/ hacked drivers).
out of curiousty, did you change any settings other than FSB and CPU voltage?
I want a board for long term use and don't want to up voltages on the chipset bus etc. kinda hoping for 366FSB
and for the record, coolaler, you and your kentsfield/conroe reviews are what officially made me join this site. You definately grabbed my attention.
hi coolaer , unforunately i updated my dfi 975x to the 814 beta bios which appeared briefly on there site and me and someone else could not reboot after that , then the beta bios was pulled off the site, i think it corrupted the boot block on the bios chip but as soon as i saw your post i decided to get a new programmed bios chip and keep the dfi, i was just about to go for the asusQuote:

No i'm still using it but it only boots about 1/4 of the time which is very anoying, i'm waiting for the 816 :)Quote:

I'm really excited now to see what happens because...
(1.) I love DFI boards.
(2.)This board is based off 975 chipset so I can run SLI.
(3.) It's not rediculously overpriced.
Fourth would be if this thing actually performs for others like it did for coolaler. The only reason I say that is because it seems like many of the beta reviews have lead people to believe one thing and then when it comes to retail it performs like poo.
It's even worse for me now that my CPU is sitting here with all the other parts ready to go. What pain! :p:
was yours the same on first reboot all powered up fans on, but no video , no floppy seek , i only have usb keyboard at home so i will fetch a ps/2 one home tomorrow and try but i have a new bios chip coming anywayQuote:

That's the target. I've been waiting so long for a good Conroe 6600 board at a fair price, I need one now. I hope the Infinity 975x is a new kind of animal with this new BIOS. The suspance is killing me :caution: ...Quote:

I know that someone got the Biostar to support it but it's not running at it's best I believe and took a little bit of modification.
Of all the 975 boards out right now there really isn't one at a GOOD price that is getting consistent numbers. The Asus boards are rediculously expensive. the MSI I had hope for and still somewhat do but right now there are to many questions regarding the BIOS and mixed results.
All I want is a sub $200 board that is based off the 975 chipset (so it supports multi-gpu) that will hit 400-450Mhz FSB so i can clock my E6400 up to around 3.4Ghz. I'm really hoping DFI will do it with this BIOS update.
Is that so much to ask for?!?!
like i said in another thread DFI boards are great when they get support!
OSKAR works very hard with that huge lineup, thanks for taking the time to help out the infinity owners!
Been checking both DFI page & DFI Street for the 816 bios to be posted .. so far no luck :(
is anyone going to upload this bios so we can try it, would be really nice
Yea I don't think anyone who has it can put it up. I think we all have to wait for DFI to put it up. they better do it soon!Quote:

The 816 bios was in Alpha testing. DFI still had a lot of quality control work to do before releasing it as a "beta" bios. I was hoping to see it tonight or maybe tomorrow morning from my contacts at DFI. I know they already have another spin entering testing.Quote:

Well I, like many, are taking Coolaler's word here. That's why we are all looking for this BIOS today. It sure didn't sound like it was still in Alpha from his statement.Quote:

Oskar Does It Again!
theres about 30 new options in this bios for the ram, almost all related do ram and data strength, but theres a few new things not related to data strength too. over all, you go from 4 ram tweaking options, to about 1 and a half pages of tweaking options.
however, actual OC ability of this board, has just took a drastic change for the better. Oskar Does It Again
before, anything over 900 mhz resulted in severe instability, and 1 ghz was a impossible pipe dream on this board. regaurdless of the ram used, or the Cas.
heres first try.... 1020 mhz.
dont look at the OC or cas or anything, cause thats not what I wanted to see.... I just wanted it to boot into windows at 1 ghz + and actually work.
it did :D
oh, Don't Rush Oskar for this Bios.
Its Not Perfect, and definatly has some Bugs to work out, before its ready for major use.
this board would not post for almost 2 hours, except when getting first boot after clearing a CMOS, first exit of BIOS and the board would never boot, and it took me a few hours to figure out why....
So Let Oskar Do His Thing, dont rush him.
when he releases the Bios, you guys will definatly be happy, cause it drastically changes how this Board OC, but realize, this bios isn't perfect yet.
Last thing, dont bug me for the Bios.
its not mine to give out, and I'll just be ignoring PM's and such about the bios. like I said, its not mine to give out. Wait for Oskar.

Kunaak:
Thanks for the preview on the BIOS. I have about 10 days before my supplier (someone who I bought a previous XE chip from on ebay) gets his
x6800's in, so i can wait and watch the feeding frenzy ensue (something I SHOULD have done before ordering that Foxconn board and then having to cancel the order). :woot:
If things keep looking up with this board, it may be the board that runs my
X6800.
That is some nice news Kunaak!
It would be nice to adjust al timings that are in Memset in the bios...
heres another test for the night.
this previously was impossible for 2 reasons.
1. with any other bios this board Hates my 2 gig ram kits, and would not OC beyond 3.2 ghz unless I used 1 gig of ram only.
2. the FSB was always attainable, even with other Bioses. but only with the 400 mhz setting. this is with the 533 mhz setting for 1:1.
so OC ability with 1:1 is drastically higher.
better compatability with 2 gigs of ram as well.
this is a All BIOS OC, no Clockgen.
Still tweaking and learning this new Bios.
theres more in the Bios then there is in Memset :DQuote:

Kunaak, I know you might not want to answer this but the BIOS your using to get these results is the same one Dumo was using? He stated there were still many bugs so I'm guessing there one in the same.
It sure is amazing how much a new BIOS changes things. This should sure give a vote of confidence to those waiting on the other high end DFI boards. :)
450 1:1 without clockgen, nice improvement.
2 pages of mem. parameters..

You need also notice that he is using a 6400 processor with 8 multiplier not an ES6600 like me and having to wrestle to get anywhere near 400FSB so just wait and see if they can sort the bios for real release since I am sure some of you will kill the board or swear it will not boot with the 816 in its' current state.Quote:

I will be waiting for the BIOS to be completely refined and released before truely running it. I have the BIOS though and I'm not afraid to use it if I feel the urge. Just because I'm new here doesn't mean I don't know what I'm doing. Funny how so many people here assume others no nothing. If I told them what I did for a living I bet they would rethink those claims. If you didn't mean what you said in the way I'm taking it then I apologize for my outburst. It has been a rough morning and i'm assuming your post was towards me since you quoted me.

I'm not blaming anyone, I knew the risks, I had the bios yesterday and flashed before anyone said there were problems.
I've tried clearing cmos and removing battery.
when I power up all i get is power supply clicking on and off every 5 seconds. I tried with a ps2 keyboard and the insert key, still no post...
can anyone take enough pity to help??

Thats why Dumo pulled the link down and they told people not to upload it yet. Hope you get it working again.
Hi~ Kunaak
Please...0816 Bios Download Link ;)
That is why DFI was trying their best to shutdown leaks of this bios...It is not near ready for prime time.
I had similar issues in even getting this bios to boot for testing much less any real new astounding speeds. Of course I could have super shetty ES6600. What I did was to hold down the insert key before "ever" turning on any power and hold it until I did actually hear a beep. Took some time. And everytime I tried to restart it was after a cmos clear. Battery out did not seem necessary. Good luck to you man.

I dont like posting 32M or anything like that anymore, cause I am sick of the whole "well thats nice, but look what I can do with my CPU".

I am just showing what I did with this bios, to show what kinda improvements are possible. nothing more.

if I was gonna go for a Asus board, it would be the P5B Deluxe, since that boards alittle more affordable for me.

Hello!
Ich have a question about DFI Mobos and Asus Mobos.
Why are Asus Mobos (especially P5B) the best OC Mobos?
I have seen, DFI Infinity 975X isn't so bad and give you very good oc results.
And i believe that RD600 will be the best oc mobo is this right or not?
i used the 814 bios :slapass: which was only suppose to be an dfi internal test version and after flashing never posted since tried the insert key and bought a new reprogrammed bios chip still the same , powers up but no posting beep, no video , no floppy seek, so whether the bios did something to the board, or whether i'd harmed something on the board messing about with it afterwards i'm not sure so unfortunately i am going to have to replace the board , not sure whether to get the same board again or to try the asus pw5 dh board instead
Thank's kunaak i'm realy apriciate thisQuote:
