Tonight I wanted to have some good ol' oc'ing action , with my still favorite videocard - the X850XT PE.

Conore + new drivers help this "ancient" X850XT PE to shine yet again:

Tomorrow I think I will do the Vdd and Vddq mods - and give the core some decent cooling. Hopefully scores will dramaticaly improve!

You really want the Asus - the GB is currently a piece of crap. Asus is quiet a bit faster for 3D

I haven't look into the drivers lately - was using the latest for now - just prepping the card again.

Subzero action will come soon - just finished off doing memory mods again and card is already flying much nicer...

x800 has no coldbug :D
Imagine LN2 on card, not controlled, just fire at will like on a Intel CPU :D

Yeah those X850's are a the value crossfire setup I think, if you know where to look you can get a Mastercard(refurb) for 140 and a xt pe for 170 and have a pretty decent(none sm 3.0) set up that should hold over even a pretty demanding gamer till DX10 for roughly 310 bucks. I could be wrong but I dont think there is 310 doller solution that will be faster(in non sm 3.0 applications), this is pretty much what I'm planing on for my next build, if the fricken CF boards for conroe get here any day, or even for AM2.

My current card is a flashed x850pro running 520/600, I really need to volt mod it, but considering I'm running a single Barton core 2400MP, and a 1gb of ddr 2100, my score of 5716 in 3d2k5 isn't too bad.

Running 660/648 duo warm water, need too cool it down another lets say... 30 degree's :D

And to think I get 40k with a 165@3000 and a X1900XTX@729/855 :stick:

Conroe truly gives that test a new horizon :D:D

Thing is, my mem runs a max of 660-670, no matter timmings, tighter requires higher volt, but, higher volt wont give ekstra mhz with stock timmings, so, high volt and tight timmings :D

Hehe, have you disabled ATi Hotkey Poller?

It shuts Windows down whenever the GPU temp goes below 0C. Nothing more than a software "bug". ;)

that is very great. i loved my x850xt till i let it go last week. but since its getting 9k in 05 would it perform like a x1800xt since it scores around there? or is it just benchmarking points and real world isnt affected.

ex. x1600 gets like 5k in 05 but performs like a 3k card.

Thanks - the CPU @ 3.8 is fine to get 10k plus if your GPU is on phase. I seemed past 4GHZ the CPU has very little impact on scores. The 10k shot was honestly not a serious bench - just an attempt to hit the magic 10000 marker.

Should change the device ID to XT PE, so that you don't get dumped with multi-GPU scores...maybe for next time. :p:

17k with CF no brainer I think...expect 18k, ~32k 03, ~65k 01, maybe higher.

Or, hmm... - TO hell with it - Im puttin' -30 on it again.. Sadly my armaflex insulation isnt efficient, on board it is, but the tygon has to little on it to prevent from makin' condens water.

card did like 540core on stock air , nowi have a X800GTO² for me 675core on WC with 1.65vgpu .no worry's il give it 1.9vgpu ;)

the max i got out of my x850xt with vmods is 685/645 /w enhanced mem-timings cooled by a asetek waterchill

this resulted in 8350 3dmarks in '05 with 3700+ @ 3ghz :D

:D :D hitting 10k ( exact ) really was a very very hard task - must have run the bench fifty times at least...had at least 15 10001-3 but not a single 9999

For the 11k shot you're right - I'll have to change the ID to XT PE especially since my old XT PE scores never show up ... clocks were ~635/645 stock for 3Dmark05 IIRC

17K shoukd be doable - with high GPU +!!! CPU clocks - higher will be stretching it I think. ATM I have 60k 3Dmark01 with 4.4GHZ Conroe - 66666 would be another nice number???

Create a second Hardware profile and have the ATI services with that profile disabled. No more worries with COLD protection on ATI drivers.

BTW I was running 100% without insulation - only had the SMDs painted with liquid electric tape. But being in Las Vegas humitity is very low that allows you to do these stunts...

I got a x850xt Pe ive been running in the kids pc, but now its on the 165 main rig untl my 7950 gx2 gets here..

It has a AC cooler on it, and it maxes out at like 615 605 how do I raise voltages without mods?

Isnt there like a way to raise em in ati tool?

I suck at soldering so no mods coming this cards way..

There has to be a way to mod it thru software right?

Plus my natures killing my overall score, whats a lod tweak?

I see lever of detail in tool, but whats best way to set it -10 +10?

hehe, yeah I know, but due my run is with 400mhz 4-4-4-12 mem timmings ;) Dont worry I can get a bit more, but now, tomorrow I'll get a new CPU, and futhermore my mach II is ready to be used, and I have a benchdisk ready ;) ;)

Lookin' for something a bit more exotic, lets say.. 60K is a hard goal, but worth givin' a shot :D

i dont feel so bad with my scores, at iffy clocks i was hitting 5k on 2k5 and 14k on 2k3, not bad for the setup in sig :P

Sticked in my X850XT yesterday too, to see what can do with it. I tried to go for first spot on ORB, it was on 51k when i looked before i started benching. But moonman had the same idea on the same evening and beat me by about 800 Points! :p: Was fun to see what this old card is capable of! :toast:

Thought so, but i'm just @ 345 FPS with 640/636. But i use 4.12 Catalyst, it is normally faster on the other tests. Which one do u use?

This is the latest approved ATI driver 6.9's I believe, I'd give them a shot. Check out Ripper's Nature ;)

Someone already cracked teh 3k barrier on '06 with a X850? I tried it today with Conroe @ 4000MHz + X850XT @ 640/636MHz, but i only got 2887 points.. it looks really hard to break that 3k! With my old amd setup i had 2812 points, but the ati was clocked to 669/651MHz, and the Opteron 146 to 3100MHz.

Moon & tiborrr's run, all air cooled - 55498 ... and this is just the beggining, Mike, u better watch your back :D

Very impressive. I love seeing huge heatsinks strapped to video cards. Those clocks are also real strong for air.

Has anyone tried Win2K on Conroe yet??

With 1.7V on GPU we had about 28 °C idle and around 45 °C load.
tiborrr, correct me if I'm wrong.

Maybe it is just because of the 25MHz more on GPU, moonman and tiborrr have? Don't know. I try to mod my cooler with a 120x120mm and try to go for more Vgpu and MHz, i was just on 1,64V.

The problem i have with WinXP is, that '01 often stops with an error-screen, something with a *dll or DirectX, but i have teh same poblem with my GX2 on XP. Never seen this happen on Win2k.

My temps was ~ the same on idle, but did not checked load. :)

Hmm well, I considered the GPU, but I'm sure you realize we're talking about mostly CPU dependent tests here, even though X850 bottlenecks C2D hard.

I too had that DLL problem with XP, even on X1900CF. Very annoying, so I switched to Server 2003. It also turned out to be about 800 points faster than XP with the X1900's, but a friend tested it on X850CF, and it was slower than XP there. :shrug:
