I'm running out of time now. But its lashed on my bench at work.

DS4 Mobo
Retail OEM 6300 Bought from OcUK
Crappy £7 Akasa heatsink
G Skill 2 GB HZ Kit Micron Memory
Seasonic 500W PSU

I have overvoltage the chipset by .1 volt but the CPU is at stock. Mem divider is in min with 475 on the FSB. Chipset is Toasty.

Will try and go further tried at 500 FSB and it got into windows but BSOD. Might need some more volts me thinks

This is on AIR and the thing is still priming after 30 mins

I have had no problems. Fresh install. This overclock was done in the BIOS. I could not be bothered with the soft OC

These gigabyte-boards seems to be very promising indeed. And first retail X6800 did 3.46Ghz stable@air, now E6300 does very near that. Nice oc!

I have maxed out the FSB at 480 =3360.05 MHz. This is running

0.1 Over on Dim
0.1 Over on GMCH
0.1 Over on FSB

CPU @ Default

CPU under prime load under a crappy Akasa £7 Heatsink is 55'c

I have aborted for the moment will be watercooling it tonight ( see sig ). I'm a bit concerned about the chipset being so toasty. Couldn't get a reading but I'm sure it was hotter than the CPU

Nice OC man. I've got a retail E6300 coming next week and an Abit AB9 Pro. Anandtech was able to POST an 805D at 4660MHz on it with an early BIOS. Abit has a new BIOS that just came out the other day. It should overclock pretty well because of the design for improved power regulation.

E6400 , 6300 + one of those 965 board (preferably Gigabyte)

any change in this combo might affect/lower the maximum clock speed that can be reach

E6600 + DS3 , DS4 = not so good

not sure about E6300 , 6400 + P5W DH or other board

hey what does added volts to FSB do? same as the adding it to the chipset?

Conroe is why I sold off my water cooling this Spring. Looks like it was good move.

Wow! impressive while u'll need +0,2V(1.7V) on a AsusP5WDH to get FSB450 hardly working! The 965 iS very tough on its default1.2V + the Temperature is not very high. But it seems that the 2MBcacheConroes logically will not heat up as much as the 4MBcacheConroes due to the 'lack' of transistors.

I really think this little processor is amazing and I cant wait to start using water and pushing the volts. I can boot into windows at 500 but not stable with the above voltages so hopefully with a bit of tweaking on the ram and volts I should be able to break 500+ easy.

No probs with the help but this was a quick overclock which pretty much was wacking the FSB to 480, very easy.

Overclocking is pure luck of the draw with the hardware. I just happened to get lucky!

I'm seriously considering cancelling my 6600 order. This is a seriously fast processort comapred to my opty 165 @ 2.9

I ordered a 6400 which wont be here until mon :mad: It will be placed under water and a P5WDH.. Im hoping i hit good numbers and fsb with the 2mb cache.

i am thinking of getting an e6300 for another rig adn this board looks steller!!!! i would push the volts to because it would have a artic cooling freezer 7! but not he best ram. mabye i could get 3ghz!!!!!! but the e6600 is going in my main rig!!!!

I have a P5W-DH, just waiting on my E6400 pre-order :). I hope mine OC's well... if it hits 420FSB or more I'll be VERY happy :D!

This motherboard stability is just powerful enough to get 600 FSB as stated by the manufacture.

The stabilty helps you with the air cooling.

By the way nice to see the overclocked E6300 beat the expensive X6800 by far.

btw the asgard, as in my sig, why i cant load into windows at 1:1; 400x7, ram at ddr800... but when i set to 2.5 mem divider; 400x7, ram at ddr1000 it can boot and very stable.

I'm trying to get 3.6 Gigs. Booted into windows once but its unstable that was with the memory on Auto. Memory is at 3 6 6 18 Auto, dropped it to 4 7 7 19 and I'm running .25 on the north and FSB not sure how far I can push these without blowing the board up. Tried upping the volts on the CPU by .5 but it didnt make any difference. Its defo the board thats holding me back because of the brick wall I'm hitting for a small increase from 500 to 515 so I have asked for some help from Gigabyte. See what happens. I have heard rumours of a Biod with some slacker chipset timing to achieve higher FSB.

I have a PW5 DH coming soon might try that but I suspect it wont touch 500.

Any help in breaking 3.6 would be greatly appreciated

Its going to be hit and miss for time. I have a little 10 month old Asgard that needs some attention today

the asgard, what is ur fsb voltage so far? or it is still at default?

btw my E6300 b2 and DS4 with my value ram are now running at 428x7 (2996mhz @ stock vcore), ram at ddr1070 5-6-6-15. vdimm @ 2.2v, vmch @ +0.2v, vfsb @ +0.1v.. it is dual super PI 32m stable.

but i wonder why i cant run at 429x7. eventhough i set in bios 429, the board will only detect it as 428x7.. and another thing is i cant run at 1:1.. it wont boot into windows. So i have to run at 4:5 where my ram is running at higher frequency but it is rock solid. Weird isnt it?

BTW is it stable at 3.5?, what kind of benchmarks can u run at 3.5.. or some stability test like prime, etc.

Ooh, thanks for posting this, ive also ordered the DS4 and e6300 (both from dabs) and am looking at some Corsair twin2x 6400. Hopefully i'll be able to achieve similar clocks.

I got more or less the same setup as you except I got the G.skill NR PC2-6400, which unfortunately (as has been reported by many people at OcUK forums) did not work with the DS4 mobo, so returned that to OcUK.

So I got myself 2gb of cheapish generic PC2-5300 ram locally just to get my system up and running so I can play Oblivion and it's great... but after looking at what you've achieved on air with very little effort I think I'm gonna get some G.skill HZ and see what I can do.

I have been able to do a basic overclock with what I have - set the CPU clock to 7 x 333 and the memory multiplier to 2 to get the standard 667mhz, therefore getting my E6300 to 2.33ghz... thats a 25% boost on stock with changing 2 settings in the BIOS - not bad. And the CPU temp rarely goes over 30°c using a fairly low speed quiet Speeze HS&F. I've tried pushing it beyond that but not much joy really - limited by the 667mhz memory.

The bizarre thing is is that the CPU is showing in Windows as running at 2.33ghz but in CPU-Z it states that it is running at 2ghz with a 6x clock multiplier... but it's defo 7x in the BIOS... any idea whats causing this anomaly?

I'm pretty much a noob at hardcore overclocking, never messed with voltages before, so it would be great if you could provide the exact settings you are using in the M.I.T. with your G.skill HZ ram and if you are changing any other settings in the BIOS.

I don't want to go mental with it - just to get it running stable over 3ghz on air would be great. I'm probably going to get a Freezer 7 Pro (I had ordered one with OcUK but they sent me a Freezer 64 Pro for AMD by mistake - doh!)

Dissable EIST and C1 in the bios. These features downclock to 6x multi to save power when the CPU isn't under load.

Realy great to see this thread Asgard I´ve been waiting to see this for some time now. Just made my choice, I´ll change my order from E6600 to E6400 and save me some cash.

Please comment if you think this will be a good setup or if there are better choices.

Well my swedish store mailed me to day announcing that the got a changed delivery date for my ordered DS4 from the 1st of September to the 30th?!? How can that be?! Well I am looking for a new store abroad since no store have them over here yet.

Unfortunatly Debs wount ship a card to sweden, any other suggestions for internationaly shipping companies preferably within the EU??
