Xtreme OC demo in a huge Spanish lan party

Hi there!

Last weekend 2 Spanish overclocking teams (UKT and CST) [and a freelance member called Xevipiu] had the pleasure of making a public demo of extreme overclocking in the hugest Spanish lan party, called Euskal Encounter. It has about 7000 participants.


The main rig was:

E6600 ES B1
Corsair 5400UL r1.2
ASUS P5W-DH w/MCH vmod
2x XFX 7900GTX
Enermax Liberty 620w
Eleven's 3 inch brazed copper pot
UKT's VGA chiller based on methanol @-40ºC.

We had some problems with the SLI and we only were able to run a nice AM3 run before a VGA crashed.

We had a good time running SuperPi. The CPU wasn't able to run over 466 FSB, even with the MCH vmod at 2v. Don't know if this is CPU's FSB limit or just a NB temperature problem.

Yes, it is acetone, but it isnt the pot of the Conroe. This pot was cooling a 2.8 Presscot doing a nice 100% OC... :)
And yes, it is more acetone than necesary, but our friend xevipiu doesnt think it at all... :slapass: :slapass:

BTW, Fixxxer, my face is at some of those pics, can I ask to you about copyright of it?? :D :D j/k

It´s not a CPU problem, it´s just an FSB roof. Not all motherboards (even if they are the same brand, model and revision) will do it over 450, in fact 466 is quite great.

If you are doing a live session, smoke will always cause some attention :D

Oh man, the interview chick wasnt the prettiest girl we saw:fact: In fact, it's a regular one, not even good.:D

As for the results, what can i say ? Im who did that 12,219, i let the other longer and boring tests to fixxxer :p: , i think we got good results for the clocks, we could have performed a bit more, we were using an 1900gt instead of PCI vga card, but that would be the next time. :D

The pot worked like a charm. -74/-73ºC IDLE / -72º/-71ºC FULL.

The XFX 7900GTX was killed in action, but as hipro5 says, we had a good time and that's the only thing it counts.

Unfortunately Vga Chiller will have to wait. We had -40º on vgas when we lost one of the cards "in action":slapass:

I am still thinking about the limit reached so soon. We expected 4.4-4.5 ghz with the mch mod. The mobo did 440 default with 1.65 vmch, but it just only did 466 with 2.0v. It had 2 Vantec Tornado on it. For next time, dice cooled.

Let´s see what´s the problem, it could be my Conroe is a "bad one", that only can do 4 Ghz on air...:rocker:

Yeah, the SS that ^don.k's^ bought to you was there cooling a Cedar Mill 631 and worked very well too... ^don.k's^ was able to do a CPU-Z validation at 5.900ish in a 3.0 Ghz CPU, not bad at all... :woot:
Next time this SS will be cooling the chipset of my P5W DH, to see if the limit that we reached was because of the mobo or because of the E6600 ES.
