Would it be a mistake to buy the ASUS P5W DH if ever plan on the Kents? Is this is the only board that supports it?

I'd give a toe for a Kentsfield :slobber:
So its looking like most 975x/965 boards that can do conroe can do Kentsfield as well? The Asus, the Bad Axe, and the MSI board too huh.
so all boards that support conroe will also support kentsfield?? with a bIOS update maybe??
thanks what i wanted to know :) .. now for sure getting P5B Deluxe

Looks like a nice mobo (i won't even mention the CPU :)). Could you tell us the max FSB you've reached without mods ? thanks.
Anyone have any idea about whether these NON-DELUXE versions of 965 will support Kentsfield as well???

This is certainly good news.
Andre, hope you got a nice reduction on the Kentsfield though ;)
Kentsfield is long off. You never know if the reelase ones will be this compatible with P5Bs. However, I believe this will be the case. Conroe boards should last for all the Core 2 generation. But who knows how long that will be? The name Core didn't even exist for a year, but think about how long the title P4 reined.
what is the max fsb on P5B deluxe?
Yea, and have you tried it witf a normal Core 2 Duo?Quote:

Good questions - this is the mobo I need for my E6600. As long as it's solid @ 400FSB (3.6Ghz) I'm good.
is it the real temp 62c load or it's off like the Bad Axe ?
ASUS site says 100-400, but I imagine people will push it further with hacks, work-arounds, or new BIOSes.
I think it's 100-400 for P5B and 100-450 for Deluxe (I have seen that few weeks ago)
So I am hearing that the 975 chipset is not good for clocking kentsfield - but the 965 really works well - and is cheaper.
That being the case - why would anyone want a 975 motherboard? What does it have that the 965 board is not able to offer?
Cheers
Mav
975 supports crossfire officially and sli non-officially/dual gfx. :p:Quote:

I will never go SLi or CF, as many people won't - 965 is perfect for us.
But you can run a 7950GX2 on it right?
Cheers

Of course.Quote:

We also need to know if Kentsfield works on the NV 590 and ATI chipsets :)
