Bios/Mod GUIDE for Conroe + Intel D975XBX BadAxe

till now in the market.
Intel D975XBX is still the best mobo for overclking Conroe.
but lots of people are not fimiliar with Intel mobo 'cos we use toooo much ASUS/Gigabyte/MSI mobo in the past.
now... here is a guide for you to , thx to OMEGA/The Stilt/Kyosen/FCG for the great work you did before.

You are right, the best (and unfortunately the only) mb available on the market :D

Yes, you can overclock without soldering but you need Rev 304 and cpu step B0 or newer

by compare with p5w-dh-deluxe & dfi inf975x, badaxe is the best of all atm :D

Going through your blog (excellent BTW) I’ve seen in the second Picture, the clear cmos function, is written in Chinese and appears some pin numbers (1.2.) and F2.

Means that when you get stuck at OCing’ you have to put the jumper in 1-2 position, restart, and press F2¿?

kyosen said vdrop not so big on p5wdh, he also suggested that his vdrop mod may not be needed, buggy bios will sure be fixed, conroes aren't even officialy available, other mods for asus doesn't seem that hard.
Also from what i have seen, BadAxe bios isn't that oc friendly, no step by step FSB adjustment, for needed bios options, mod is required. The mobo is likely to die if more than 2.5v vdimm is used for a period of time, it is also reports that condensation is really likely to kill mb.
I don't want to be smart, i haven't had any of mb in my hands I am just reading and collecting info, cause time for purchase is near.

aha...yes, that's right, you're so smart to get the info. from a CHINESE version picture :clap:

btw, PIN1,2,3 on the picture I marked equals PIN3,2,1 (turn-over) according to Intel's official saying.
when you get stuck when overclking, simple set the jumper in the CFG mode , turn off the PSU, restart.
it will automatically enter the bios even if you don't press F2.

I can set 1333fsb*130%=1733fsb directly in the bios and boot into Windows with my E6600es stepping5, vcore=1.5v actually. (BadAxe)

same HW, same temp, same cooling,
refference e6600es s5: 1.3v 3620mhz dual_sp2004 prio=9 on BadAxe.

ASUS results:
1) 1.35v 3604mhz dual_sp2004 prio=9
2) ram cannot get ddr2_1000 by 4:5 or 2:3 (haven't test 3:5 yet)
3) bios=1.375v, idle=1.35v~1.38v, load=1.336v~1.344v~1.352v
4) no mod, max fsb reached 421mhz pi_1m, 422mhz unstable, 423fsb crash often, 424fsb cannot boot in bios
5) vmch=1.65v, vfsb=1.4v, ram:fsb=1:1 3-4-3-8-2 hp3=auto, vdimm=2.3v
6) same efficiency with badaxe. 3.8G pi_1m=13.5sec

No offense to you or anything but that seems a little mediocre for a $280 mobo. Although I know it could be a number of other things.

FSB 1333 = bad performance :slapass: , a real big huge drop in speed , MHz Vs. MHz compared to FSB set to 1067 :( And because of that FSB=1333 is not a real usefull option imho ..

Can somebody explain to me how I fine-tune the RAM frequency? Sorry, AMD guy here.

It seems that with the modded BIOS and latest version you can control the FSB with a base FSB and with the "burn-in" percentage. But none of that seems to impress RAM, which only seems to be set to one of it's preset RAM frequencies.
