Very nice board, well featured. However I doubt it will be the best overclocking board and that is what I am looking for.

somewhere in the article it is mentioned that they asked Asus why the only used the 4-Pin and the answerded that it is Intel Spec and due to the fact that the Core 2 Duos do not need that much Power.

sounds stupid for me... because some people will use Preslers or Prescotts on that Mobo...

No, that fast memory access has nothing to do with the ICH8R ;) Memory access is controlled by the Northbridge and the ICH8R is a southbridge... That Fast Memory Access you are talking about is a feature of the new P965 chipset ;)

Intel prescotts and preslers do not require EPS12V (the 8 pin power connector) this is required only for XE cpus (955,965).

but, the one Heatsink is senseless (for Mosfet cooling), because with it only half of the Mosfets are cooled. I think it might be a try to transport the heat faster away from the chipset, plus having bigger cooling surface.

Would prefer the 975X revised with the ICH8-R on it. Digital pwm shouldn't be something Asus is last on board for too.

yea, I have read reports that the bios is having difficulty registering the cpu correctly. Or, the bios is not fully compatible with the cpu creating missing functionality that is needed to OC it at the moment...

To clear this out for u my psu isn't EPS12V compatible and my 940 runs flawlessly @ 4.52ghz... ;)

but good to know that you can overvoltage the Northbridge itself ;) on my P4C I have to rise the AGP Voltage to do so...

and: would you be so kind and tell me if you can disable SATA2 Legacy (you know, this thingie that SATA2 drives are recognized as IDE drives in Windows). that was the reason why my Abit Serillel 2 didn't work properly (only worked with PIO...)

€: seems like the Germans are most interested in this Mobo :D

Impossible to have a FSB > 422MHz ? Max is 9 x 422MHz, 423MHz = freeze.
I have make a test with a multiplicator 8 and 8 x 422 = perfect, 8 x 423 = freeze...

I installed Clock Gen and it's possible to have a FSB 500MHz but even if I take 450, it remains blocked to 422...

My best score today with SuperPI is 13,594. My bios is 0065 and I have see Kyosen with fsb 450MHz and bios 0401.

CPU-Z has trouble reading Conroe speeds. Try using Crystal CPUID instead.

On some boards like the Bad Axe, EIST can't be disabled in BIOS, at least not to my knowledge. I'm not sure if the Asus board has a setting.

Crystal CPUID will read the correct speed, even at idle.

first of all hello to every'1, this is my first post here, been arround for a while reading on conroe etc and thought its really time to join in on the fun :)

P5W DH sure looks like a nice board but now im not sure about either to get a P5B Deluxe or P5W DH especially the difference between both is arround +/-15 euro, btw does the board feature that "asus cpu multiplier unlock" thingy...?
