This is the 3rd post, 2nd independent thread on this...in fact they are right on top of each other in the new posts search option.
i like the layout its very good compared to asus boards and stuff. i also like the fact that they didnt use the yello for the pci/pci x slots, not that i didnt like it but i prefer orange. :)
finnaly they got rid of the cheap northbridge cooler and went copper
That's the Southbridge...Quote:

this will be my next board if it clocks good... :D
Which every other company has a tiny passive HS on. I know I will be swapping out that fan. I hope they don't go with an actively cooled HS on the northbridgeQuote:

You are blind, top right, by the mouse/keyboard backplate area.Quote:

Pulse Width Modulated, all the Conroe boards seem to have at least one plug.Quote:

Plenty of socket space for phase cooling, although the northbridge is pretty close.
Lanparties > all :toast:
this supports conroe right? lol
Umm as expensive as this board is going to be, i know i would like to have more than 2 sata ports and one ide connection
It's got 8 sata ports, 6 of them are parallel to the board under the southbridge.Quote:

I only use 1 DVD drive so one IDE is good enough for me. It looks like you can have 8 hard drive RAID 0, heh nice.
Yes sir :)Quote:

someone go post this over at dfi-street so Angry_Games can ban you for talking about their new products tha they dont want to talk about, or have anyone else talk about.
for a company who has an opportunity to pass on their AMD supremacy into the Intel market they sure are screwing themselves right up the a-hole by pissing everyone off when they delete posts when people talk about these boards.
they did the same thing when the crossfire boards first came out, angry deleted any and all posts concerning them
dfi-street use to be a great resource for dfi, now I would venture to say that it only hurts them.
hey is this a 965 or 775? i'm guessin 965
nvidia 590 chipset not intel

im more interested in how many pci-e lanes its got than anything..
is it?,
x16
x4
x8
x16
wudnt hurt if 1 of those pci wud be x1 pci-e
so far.. looks like its THE ONLY conroe mobo id be interested in..
x16Quote:

I thought nforce 590 was the name of the chipset, wasn't there socket 965 and 775 or socket l or t or whatever, it isn't socket nforce 590 is it? Like if you were to search for mobos by socket, what socket would this be?
tnx! appreciatedQuote:

nforce 590 is a chipset
intel 975x is a chipset
intel 965x is a chipset
LGA775 is a socket also known as Socket T
ohh so what your saying is they are all socket T, 965 is considered socket t or lga775? I get it..duh :-pQuote:

Obviously you'll need 3 x16 slots and the bad axe is the only mobo with 3 x16 slots, but I don't know if that supports this.
wats the eta?
august/september is what I read somewhere
ouch.. 2-3 months..
nice to see the digital pwm.. when r they gonna go all digital?
i should do that now, what should i say to the bastards?:slapass: :slap:Quote:

It's doubtful, this is the highest end motherboard. 965 will be mid-range enthusiast so they will probably be cheaper.
Umm, pics are nice but where are reviews? :)
board isnt even out why would we have reviews? unless some people are just special
Waiting for a review to see if a passive SB heatsink would work.
Also, 1 IDE :( I really need to spend some money on new backup harddrives :/)
Anyone have any prices? (even if just whispers of prices).
whats the advantage to digital pwms?Quote:

OMG this motherboard has some big layout problem. Look at the north brigde.... is so close to the cpu socket, i think they removed cooler on the northbridge because intel boxed cooler didn't fit  And if you install phch, you'll never going to be able to insulate the cpu proper without cooling your NB proper :(
No excess caps on the motherboard, especially crowding the socket.Quote:

Liked the Digital PWM and the Sata ports placement better for cable mgmt.
thats the 975X Infinity board, we havn't seen their RD600:slapass:Quote:

Look forward to some testing
it is supposed to be in mass production in august. That is all the common folk know about the release date. I think we will see them popping up in various people's hands over the next couple weeks.Quote:

Dude, get a dell. :nono: Dell's been doin it since sata was introduced. Kinda funny they've been strong in cable mngmt, but thats about it.Quote:

So basically you are waiting for hell to freeze over while flying pigs rain free motherboards from the sky.Quote:

It may be possible, but you would have to sacrifice expansion slots, which is one of the best things about DFI's layout. Either that or maybe a mobo manufacturer could create an E-ATX ethusiast board, which could be big enough to accomidate larger distances from GPUs to chipset, but then you have trace length increases...
DFI Street is a good place to learn, but don't hang around there. You will soon get pissed at Angry Gamers. I said it before, but he has sticks up his ass 24 hours a day.
Price wise on a mobo say £250 and below...covers ya fanny then
I like it , and i like also that there are no more mofsets-capacitors neart the socker .
easy insulation :hehe:
Oh yeah the board is definitely nicely laid out and will probably perform ok... just that the chipset itself will be crap compared to the Intel offerings...Quote:

Have to see though. Think the killer for me is I'm not likely to wait till these boards come out. Guess we'll have to see. It's not like you can actually go buy a Conroe yet lol Ok well maybe you can but not reaaalllly :)
No capacitors near the CPU socket, also.Quote:

My main beef with the new nV chipsets is the sky high power consumption, it's ridiculous :( Hopefully their drivers will get better though, what with their NBP push I'd expect it!
Yes perhaps, but high is a bit relative here. It's not exactly tons more juice, just relatively more. The 965 also consumes more power than the 975 so it seems there is definitely a trend to more features and slightly more power consumption. If the heat is managed, I can live with the power issue.
If you're shooting for Conroe/SLI, this looks like the right board. Very clean layout. I'd like to see an RD600 from DFI with an identicle layout. I wonder what chip handles the two extra SATAs.
