I was thinking, if my card hits 690/800 with ATiTool (which doesn't relax timings), then in theory I should be able to set that as my default clocks, no?

Dont use that RaBit modified BIOS, RaBit is crappy soft. Dont use it.

cause rabit doesn't work...

it only messes with the 2D speeds so far...

Using the bios right now. Seems stable in games. Haven't tried in Marks yet to see if performance is better...

Looks good. Actually this is perfect for me because I can run up to 681MHz/800MHz on air without any voltage increases.

So what exactly has been done to the memory timings? Could someone take a look in RaBit and post up the RAM timings for this bios?

Toxic has slacker timings to accomodate the 800MHz mem clock. This individual just set the timings to the XT/XTX timings to increase performance.

So far so good. Only complaint is it puts the fan speed at 68.5% idle, and thats 33% faster than stock (so it makes more noise).

Ah I see, I thought maybe it was using tighter timings than the standard XT/XTX.

How can I tell if I have 1.1ns memory?

if your ram says BJ11 then you have 1.1 ns ram on it.

heres a direct comparison the latencies of the modded toxic bios, the regular toxic bios, and then the stock XTX Bios.

as you can see, the Toxic Bios is indeed different then the XTX bios, and would appear to be slightly slower in latencies.

But be careful cause this bios does appear to have been modded to use extra voltages too.

no idea if they work, but if they do, then your making a already really hot card, run alittle hotter, if your cooling isn't up to par, this can be a real headache.

Yeah...my Powercolor xtx has the same timings but the bios version/PN ends in 106.

the stock toxic bios is slower then the XTX.
this bios is to get the Toxic Bios back to the same timings as the XTX...

Anyone do some testing with this bios yet? I did extensive testing with the stock Toxic bios and is was slower in every benchmark clock for clock with a normal XTX bios. Didn't gain enough in the overclock to make up for the difference either.

May sound stupid but I want to make sure. This bios will still play well with ATItool if need be right? I don't have CCC installed so will not be using the overdrive tab which I think is the only real reason to use any bios but stock due to the whole 6mhz increase it gives you on the ram over the stock XTX bios. I don't like the idea of the increased voltage as I really don't think the card needs it. I would like to be able to use ATItool to create my own idle and oc profiles witih my own custom voltage, clocks and fan settings. If anyone else is using this MODDED Toxic bios with ATitool flawlessly and just as was with the stock XTX bios please let me know. Thanks.

BTW, I wish there was this EXACT bios but with 100% fan speed default at all times. I have the Accelero X2 which is dead silent so noise isn't an issue. It would be nice to have the fan running at 100% at all times so if ATItool isn't loaded or I'm in DOS mode (memtest etc) the card is still getting adequate cooling.

Wondering as well, has anyone actually been able to flash this bios with the ATIWINFLASH version 1.10? I thought this version didn't have the 'FORCE' option making it impossible to flash a different bios to the card. I thought you needed an older version, 1.09 and prior to get this working unless I'm missing something and 1.10 does infact flash the card with the modified bios.

Benchmarks are different from real world performance. If you did game testing, you would find the toxic faster in all games.

Message the guy and get him to make a 100% fanspeed bios for you :)

I was thinking of doing that, I am not a member of the Anandtech Forums so may register to just do that. I suppose I could mod the fan settings myself using rabit but I'm a little unconfident I would do it right. This card runs sooo well right now it would be devestating to have it go under due to my ignorance.

So ahmad, you state real world gaming was infact better with the slower timinged, unmodified toxic bios over the stock xtx bios even with benches being slightly slower? I wonder if this would still hold true, or be even faster with the tighter timinged toxic bios as it is still the toxic bios being used. I am actually starting to wonder if the 6mhz memory clock and changed timings is the ONLY difference between the toxic bios and the stock XTX bios or perhaps there is more to it than that?

Hmm.. well plywood seems to have no trouble with the bios.

Those on water need not worry about the fan speed increase.

I might try editing the bios to make it 690/800 default 3D... (if at all possible).

Benchmarks do not stress the latest video cards enough, and that is why tighter timings allow for lower latencies which translates to higher numbers. But with games, higher clock speeds = more raw performance and games do stress the video cards to their limits. Especially once you turn on AA, then the higher core frequency will kick in. Just look at the benchmarks between toxic vs XTX and you will see toxic is better in every game.

I did check the bios and those are the only differences: timings and clocks. BTW I am using it now and no problems to report yet.

Did you flash with winatiflash 1.10? Is atitool playing nice and as should with this bios? I'm sure it would but am unsure if the manual editing will throw anything off.

Have now tested bios in all games I have and no problems at all. No benches ATM but if timings are tighter things should be faster...

Was flashing as easy as 1-2-3? I am always afraid to flash...

Loaded bios and flashed. Took about 30 seconds for the whole ordeal. done at least a dozen card flashes and no problems. Just make sure your overclock is stable, or better yet set system to stock before flashing.

I have my cpu fans temp controled in bios and each time I flash they get brighter, letting me know cpu is being loaded during the flash process...

I might just flash my card. An extra 25 mhz never goes unappreciated.

After you flash a reboot is required to use the new bios...

It sounds strange but this Toxic bios makes things worse than the Powercolor XTX 's bios for my powercolor 1900XT. Yes that mine is SS BJ11 too.

Thats not possible at all. Make sure you have identical settings in CCC and you are not using ATiTool at all when benching. Also, make sure you flashed to the one with tighter timings and not the original toxic.

This BIOS is useless with AIR cooled cards, with this BIOS fan is running on 100% full time, its strange.
