ATI XPRess3200 CF MOBO first results
-
That is the older spin of the board. Trace rework done on new board.
Notice the spacing of the caps from the CPU socket.
Nics pics. I will confirm if I can post scores as well from the new board.
-
Lookin' good, whats up with all the wires on the board? Due very early sample?
Also "sensor #1, #2, #3"
Sorry for my behaviour :(
Btw..
Memory clock, is it only those speeds, or is 1Mhz steps also availible?
EDTI:
Ohh no, not all that stuff around socket, makes phasechange impossible :(
-
dam nice there ,now this ,ive been waiting for . what would we do without you coolaler . vcore options? vdim ?
-
Those are default boot speeds for memory, fine adjust in windows up or down.
-
fugger , kan you get your ls to fit around the cpu socket?
-
I have not tried due to the cap clearance and not wanting moisture to harm the CPU or board. Even for short runs it not worth the risk as I like this board.
Moving the caps to the backside of the board is possible, but then the bracket would need to be drilled for clearance.
-
there are some option can disable one core and speedstep

that heatsink on the chipset reminds me of the alpha hs's with pins.
would be nice to see some scores in 3dmark and some fear fps's.
if possible fear @1024x786 and up res runs.
the red pcb is a nice change from the stale green. wonder if they would ever do a black one. hmm thinking now all black with a copper chipset HS and copper Fet sinks.
wow down to 6, this would be cool for a HTPC.
-
damn coolaler, ur a machine! do u ever sleep? everyday new mobo/cpu/setup/benchmarks
good work! :toast:
-
so your saying ,we mach or ls users cant really use this board? dam pitty if thats the case ,seems like a nice quility board .and lots of futures .looking forward in seeing some results
-
With this board many people will learn what sticky NVRAM really is.
You can set settings in windows and you can reboot and keep settings. If you press the reset button the settings will default back to bios settings. It is so nice not having to reset the bios.
-
Might be a stupid question, but what are the 2 molex connector on the board for ?

Probably more power/regulation for the motherboard. I would assume just like the DFI SLI-D/SLI-DRs had.
-
^^^
good eye i missed that... looks like custom.
-
-
-
yea saw that look how much faster the oced 1.86 is @1333fsb, even has 2mb L2!
coolar what voltage does it take to be able to do 333fsb?

I think this is a very sample.
Retail one wont have so many molex connectors.
-
What's up with cpuz and the mem? Nothing shows...

In fact, CPU-z doesnt support ATi mem control including very old chipsets-Xpress 200 for intel.
CPU-Z is not good enough in this case, anyway.
-
Wow .. cool board ! But is 1 PCI slot enough ? Some people might have soudn cards, RAID cards, etc. Probably the only worry at this point of time.
-
those ram spreaders look pimp
-
interesting , lets see some overclocking
btw nice RAM :P
-
coolaler what type of camera are you using to take those shots? Whatever it is, it's a damn good one. That close-up of the SB heatsink is something. The graphics are almost 3D on my Dell2405FPW.

Very excited to see this board, thanks coolaler. :toast:
Also very excited to see that 500fsb is selectable in the bios. Is it possible to reach this fsb with a lower multi?
-
-
good results,
sell me your old conroe!

WOW just WOW
how were you able to get SLI to work on that mobo?
why did you change ram coolar, your using patriots now?
-
1 PCI slot :slapass:
I think 90% of boards that I've seen so far have caps so close to the socket. The other 10% are not for overclockers lol

But I think that not enough PCI-E frequency. I think that optimum will nearby 120Mhz can even more. It should give increase in result nearby 1500.
-
memory timings?
PCI-E settings?
-
-
w00t :D now where is the ln2
-
Nice, but Coolaler, still no comment on those mem-sticks?
-
Am I the only one suprised to see SLI on an ATI mobo ?
This is killer having the choice :p:

Yes, cause it probaly wont be possible on the final edition, but its a very early sample... - But its gonna be possible with modified BIOS :fact:
-
ii notice that you have to use the dongle between the cards. any info on dongleless xfire on these?
thanks again coolaler, you always provide great info!
-
excellent news on the board I really like it
-
Short piece at HKEPC (English Edition) about the board.
-
That board will look so nice in my case. Thanks for all the benches and pics, Coolaler. I am fairly sure I will give this board a whirl with a E6700.
-
I told myself I wouldn't hype, but I've been up late hypeing all the Swedish hardware forums :fact: :woot:

Yummy!
And yeah, SLI baby! Surely if it's possible now with this board it's possible with future mobo's and this bios as M.Beier says?
Exciting times....thanks coolaler :toast:

SLI is a feature which can be enabled using a hacked driver, regardless of the chipset which is on the mobo ;)

Thank you for educating me :) Sooooo, if you can't already see it coming....even current non-SLI / CF mobo's as well?!
-
Wonder when us mortals will be able to purchase one of these.

IIRC, Coolaler's already run SLI on the CURRENT DFI rd580 Board (s939).....
-
Although conroe is amazing (this coming from someone who's run AMD since the last good intel proc PIII) what im really interested in is that this board can do SLI as well as crossfire. This makes it so attractive even if its not official as its not clear what DX10 card will be best yet.
Although im sure ati will go to great effort to make sure SLI doesnt work in the final, do you think it will still be hackable, and ifso, how hard will it be (ie, driver hacks like the ULI patch or will it involve the bios)
-
I sure hope they clean up those chokes and capacitors near the CPU. Those right in back of the socket (toward the backplane) are simply TOO close.
-
Why no replies or updates, im really interested in this board :(
-
Be patient, Conroe boards will be popping up soon. I'm curious to see DFI's LanParty UT RD600-T2R/G. Wonder if you could enable a hack for Quad-SLI, lol.
-
There probably haven't been many updates becouse of this.
-
@ coolaler. Could give some results on motherboard?
And if one can know the exit date, better :D
Greetings

If nVidia release another double card for DX10 then they'll win on power, if both companies stick with singles, from what I've read, then ATi. I think that ATi are trying for another generation leap like they did with the 9700Pro, and I don't think nVidia are ready.
-
Hmmm, this is interesting as I haven't heard the Xpress 3200 going onto the Intel platform. Probably an ES from ATI?
-
Interesting stuff.
The features of the board sound great.
Hopefully it wont take to long until first boards with the RD600 hit the stores...
-
What's the lowest expansion slot? It doesn't look like it's in a normal position.
-
i would say its a PCIe 4x slot but im not sure

I would guess it's a CNR slot. It's not PCI-E, those all start at the same point and the length of the first "section" is the same.
-
Canadian National Railway?
LOL. What's CNR.

Communications/Network Riser

Alright. But this is just ATI's reference board, right? It will never hit retail, right?
I'd like to see more pics of that ATI System Management thing. I imagine, though, that too is far from release.
I may wait for a DFI or ASUS version of this chipset for Conroe.
-
Just so you know, Sapphire will probably be the ones to produce these boards. It will in all likelyhood come out when Intel is ready to introduce a next gen chip and then probably have almost next to no bios/driver support for it. From their AMD track records, don't expect this board within the next 3 months or so AFTER COnroe comes out.
-
nice, surprised u got the sli to work

That connector has been on mobos since PIII times, anyone here has ever seen anything that uses it? Modems were the candidates, but everyone I saw was ISA/PCI.

Damnifino. I was just replying to the question. Given that it's an ES, They could have just stuck that on for grins. Then it could be a proprietary Wi/Fi card. Who knows? Surely not me.
-
-
I would like this motherboard to come out at the same time that the conroe, but I believe that it won't be this way :(
-
We've seen roadmaps showing a DFI RD600+SB600 and an RD600+SB650 even. I'll be watching for a P5R32-MVP. I also wonder how ASUS will name their nForce 590 IE. P5N32B-SLI?

I want one of these pretty damn bad, they look awesome.
