Keep us informed, looking to get Barton myself when prices come down a little. I think they should OC as well as the current xp's when they get production up to speed.
What speed are you able to get stable ?
sweet. congrats on getting this far. what's your max stable speed?
Thats ludicrous, I hope the maturity of the stepping, like the Tbred B has become, gives better performance to the barton core.
But dang thats great Bowman :)
only 2.0V? sounds like ~3.0Ghz @ 2.2V:DQuote:

so what helped you get from your first attempt of 2.6 or so to 2.8??
burning in for days?
Nice going BOWMAN ! (as always ;))
:toast:
Very nice Bowman:toast: simply ADORE that chiller of yours...
hope I will be making my own soon... I would realy like to have a 3Ghz AMD CPU:slobber:
Heh...were so spoiled...a mont ago 2Ghz was great;)
i couldnt wait to try.....:pQuote:

but i am back to burning in again.2.64 is easy to run rock solid and prime runs no problem or errors.but the voltage is going to be a problem with these chips.mine will give errors in prime at 2.0 or above.wont even boot into bios at 2.1v ......but i am still pushing her to the limit.going to pick me up another power suppy today ..a antec true power 550 and see if i can get the power a little more stable.i get lots of up and down on the vcore.
it's the OVP problem of 8RDA ? ;)
no not the OVP my xp2600 does 2834@2.1volts no problem i can go to 2.2.i disabled the ovp on this board.it is just the chip ...barton cores hate voltage.:(
so burnin in the chip got u about 200 extra mhz?Quote:

well as of now i can bench stable @2741 mhz.2.8 stable is in reach.
finally got past 20k in 3d2001
what the difference between the AMD forum and the Xtreme Overclocking one? :p
yea i should have posed it in the overclocking thread but maybe we can talk the mod into moving it for us.
what you say mr moderator can you help me out.?:D
You want this in the Overclocking forum?Quote:

OPP
damm that's what i call service..:D
OPPAINTER you just as fast as you computers LOL:D
well i might call this overclocking ?so proberly should be there.
thanks oppainter
Done :D

Yeap, Bartons are great, or so I hear.
A friend got one Barton 2800+ hand picked from AMD and he tells me he can run it 2600Mhz at stick voltage, but not entirely stable, yet. And cooled by ONLY an OCZ Gladiator 2, HFS.
Isn't that something ?
I wish I had one of those AMD had picked Bartons ...
while the topic of moving threads is fresh for another post or two.. any chance of moving the thermal compound thread of mine over here? 8-)
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...&threadid=9653
Well, I can't move it, but N8 can. Pm him about it:cool:
:toast:
Thats great man. I can't wait to see one of these on a rev1.2 NF7, should be some nice results from that. :D Btw is that a 3000+ and what stepping? Or can u not release this info ;)
sure check out my postbarton xp2800 here
thx.
/me curses 3dfx bsor bug...
Ah thx bowman, Damn she sure is a beauty of a chip! Congrats man.
Bowman,
Did you have to mod the CPU or anything to get the 13 and higher multipliers to work?
I have a XP 2500 on its way finally, and I will have it by thursday, I am just hoping it lets me use the 13 and higher with no modding needed.
I hate cutting up CPU's.
yes i had to cut the chip to go to the 13x and up multiplyers:D
and since i always back up my work with pic'c here is the xp2600 i cut.the excate same thing i did to the barton.:toast:
so the 4th L3 bridge, going from left to right?
when you cut it, can you just so a small light cut with an Xacto knife and have it work?
sorry been in and out ...
but yes as you can see in the pic.i had to cut the 5th L3 on the pic.that is a actual pic of my chip after i cut it.so i used a Xacto knife and made a few passes back and forth.i like to cut a little and try it and if i didnt cut deep enough it try again.but as you can see i had to cut a ways down
bowman did you cut the L12 on the Barton also? If so what were the results?
I know you cut it on the 2600, and said it gave you the ability to run higher fsb EVEN on the 8RDA.. I haven't tried that yet, been thinking about it though.
yes my friend i did cut the barton.but is very hard to tell if it helped because i didnt play with it much before i cut it.Quote:

i am running so rock solid right now i hate to change ......i havent had a system this fast with out a crash in a long time.
my 3dmark score were run at once within a few hours of each other.no special setups or long drawn out benching sesions like before.
i have only completed proberly 5 3d2001se tests and 2 3dmark03.to get the scores i have.
i need to start uping the chip this weekend to 2.8 again but with new ram on the way i am going to wait..
being the fastest is nice .mine wont ever do 3.0g i believe like some have reported but i can run mine all day long without LN or dry ice.and keep going.
Most def. nice to be able to run that high solid bro:toast:
But I would be lying if I didn't say to you that I wasn't at least a little disappointed with what SEEMS to be(AON) the ceiling of your chip....... I figured/hoped with your cooling 2950+mhz would be reasonably achievable.... I never thought that the chip would run cooler myself( just because it's bigger), I figured hotter with all the extra cache, and was a bit concerned about the ceiling with that extra cache also.....
Maybe after some more batches it will be a bit better as the tbredB became, and you can sell that 1 on ebay.......:D
Thanks bowman, and Good Luck bro.

Hi everyone!!
I have ordered a Barton 2800+ which run at @ 2083.
Do any of you think that I can get it to hit over 200FSB with an ASUS A7N8X,Corsair 2x512 3500 & watercooling?
At the moment I don't want to voltage mod it. Just with max 1.85vcore & 2.8vddr.
Thanx
Kanch
You are really gonna need a VDD-mod to get over lets say 200. (some ppl can get the fsb to 210+ without VDD-mod but they are lucky sons of §§§§§es :flame: )Quote:

one of the guys on overclockers.com in the amd forum got the XP 2500 to 2930, or so, it was 12.5x 233...
my barton 2500 mysteriously died for some reason.
it was non-overclocked, and worked perfect in my Kt-333 board, then simply never posted once I put it in my NF2 board.
I didnt even get around to cutting the CPU or anything, cause I didn't even get to see if the NF2 unlocked the CPU's multipliers.
I maxed it out on air at 2470 with 1.9 volts, didn't even get a chance to use it in my Prometeia... :(
R.I.P :(
