Watercooled FX62 action!

I put my FX on water so I could play with some DDR2 and HTT clocks.

Foxconn 590 mobo
Corsair 6400C2,, 2Gigs
1x 7900GTX on air stock volts
OCZ 700W PSU
Swiftech APOGEE CPU waterblock

My FX runs good at around 3240MHz with 1.5V.
At first I ran the Corsair memory at 3-3-3-5 1T around 814MHz, I thought the results were pretty good. But then I switched over to 2T and ran the memory at 4-4-4-5 2T around 1080MHz. Much to my surprise the 1080MHz results were better even though it ran at 2T.:D

I have some benchmarks I’ll post up next.

Yes I like it very much, super stable and great overclocker for this Corsair, it's almost as if they made for each other.:D

One thing is you can only increase the HTT in 2 MHz increments. They need to fix that.

I think it has more power then socket 939. This is pretty good 01 with the 7900 at stock clocks, Windows XP.

Can you post a compare link so that i can compare it to my S939 Opteron @ 3.2GHz with my 7900GT@ 700/1800 to see how much more powerfull it actually is?

Yep they work, :) I origanally fit them to attach to my Vapo LS mounting kit. Then I found I could use them on my PCIce mounting kit also, as well as on this Swifty block.:D

How do you think the following will compare. from what I see... it seems as if there may not be much of a difference between the two.

1T 667mhz VS. 2T 800mhz

Yeah GTX has 512mb but i don't know how much that will affect the score, i recall the GeForce4 days when 64 or 128mb video ram didn't make much of a difference.

Here is my S939 Opteron @ 10x320 with my 2x512 BH-5 @ 267 2-2-2-5 and my 7900GT@ 710-1800 wich is a even higher than a stock GTX compared to Opp's AM2 setup:

I want to compare to see what difference in systempower AM2 gives opposed to S939

As you can see the systems is putting the extra bandwidth to good use in 3d mark 2k1 to say the least.

Nice scores, im sticking to 939 till conroe is out but these AM2s seem to have potential :)

bandwidth is great but the other benches are to close to socket 939 results imo.
Maybe this has potential to perform better as S939 but I wouldn't call it worth the upgrade until now.

I wouldn't run 800 at 2T, there is no reason. Both this Corsair 6400C3 and the 8500C5 run 800 at 1T.

I forgot to mention one thing. There is a differance.
The core on the AM2 chip is acually lower profile. The S939 chip cores are taller.

This kinda sucks, the socket step may be a micro tad higher then the core.

funny, pi times on conroe draw the same remarks.....

OPP, the 4gigs might not have done anything for 06, but it didn't hurt, thus you'd need a program that'll utilize it to see what benefits it gives

edit: to add, i'm impressed, both with the bandwidth and that all 4 banks perform quite nicely

Yea I will but the problem with the 8500C5 ram is it can't run 3-3-3-5 1T at 800MHz like the 6400C3 does.

I'll test it at 4-4-4 1T just to see if it works at 1T with all 4 gigs.

The highest I've ran FSB on this board is 336MHz 1:1 or so.
The above benches were done with FSB in the 270s with 800 divider.

FUGGER has been useing the same Corsair 6400C3 on his Conroe setup. He would know.

Historically Intel's memory controllers are not a quality as the K8 built-in. I would guestimate his is somewhere around the 9500-10000 mark in Sandra vs. Opp.'s 12000
