4600+ & 4000+ AM2 on stock cooling

I dropped that P.O.S. Asus M2N32SLI and installed an Epox board I just recieved. Nothing too Xtreme but as there are no "cheap" AM2 results, I´ll post mine. I got this board just an hour ago so there still much tweaking to do :)

I know the memory frequency is pretty lame, I don´t have time to play with this modules yet and have lot to do :(
That is why probably the SuperPi scores are low, with a little time it should improve, it is just to show this CPU scales really nice and for it´s price it can be pretty interesting.

You might need to change some of your secondary timings,

I get 32.xx times @ 2750 ddr400 2-2-2-5 :)

I have a 1mb l2 cache chip though :(

Those are very high latencies for 375Mhz. I suggest you read up on DDR2 if it's your first time.

I´m not very familiar with DDR2 and definitely nothing with this modules... I want to find the CPUs sweet spot first and then I´ll start playing with the memory.

Anyways I´m finding a really weird problem. Anything higher than this overclock, neverminding the voltage I won´t go in Windows, and it doesnt crash or freeze it just goes loading for ever... Maybe is my Win install that is really messed up, I´ll install it again later. Now I´ll try clockgen.

Now I´m running 3-3-3-7-11 that is as tight as I can go (and the BIOS handles). There are plenty of memory tweak options (probably as many than in Ultra-D board), and this is a really really friendly board. Up to 2.4vDimm and +0.3vCore, I´m loving it.

I´m closing some processes and explorer.exe, when I opened it back a wierd bug happened and it only "loaded" WinXP default theme in one of the windows :stick:

Yeah i was going to ask if there's something wrong with the 3dmark scores cuz i'm not clocked much higher and i get 10,500 in 2k5 and 5,800 in 2k6.

I'd say you have a problem then as well Absolute, cuz I beat your scores with my seriously underclocked manchester:LOL: Normally with that CPU speed you would beat my scores regardless if I have a 7900GTX or not. My GTX is not even overclocked.

Well 3dmark05/06 are way more GPU bound than CPU bound and my monster CPU doesn't make that much difference.

Plus i run with no tweaks/optimizations whatsoever

Thinking of Juan's scores though, they should still be a little higher, although i think we're all just using different drivers.

Your CPU should make a diff cuz I cannot saturate my PCI-e speed with my CPU speed, the more CPU gigs you got the better your GPU scores should be, I might be using only 60% of full potential of my card while you at 3Ghz might be using like 90% or whatever(just hypothetical numbers ofcourse).

And I don't use any tweaks whatsoever either.

not even sub 30s 1m with 3GHZ? Well latency values are high but anyway shows that it is not worth the change for S939 users...
Thanks for the benches anyway, but even with tweaking I don't think we'll see anything really surprising us positivly.

that is a pretty bad super-pi for 3 GHz...if i can do a 29.531s 1M at 2.8 Ghz...something just has to be wrong. (282x10 1:1 2.5-3-3-7 timings)

bad windows install all of the scores seem way to low for what it is and DDR2 should be faster then ddr at those speeds.

Actually i was referring to the 3DMark06 CPU score (over 2200 points), not the overall 3DMark score :rolleyes: ;)

Not that I doubt it after my A8N-SLI premium experiences...

I wasnt flamming i was trying to help him out...make sure that u defrag after the video drivers then after the chipset drivers that will help out also...then get all of ur benching stuff on the system and de-frag...it helps quit a lot in truth.

It is a really great board, for a daily driver would be definitely good. But for "sport" overclocking is not a nice board, only +0.1vCore and those heatpipes (snow logo, how ironic).

I want to see Epox 590SLI and DFI boards... Just wait till Computex :)

i wasnt sure how these Pi runs stacked up against my current rig so i ran a few. Here is a 170 at the same speed with 2Gb DDR500 2.5-3-2-7.

I made a OS fresh install, nothing changed much...

Updated with the 4000+, really nice chip.

Was that stable? X2 4000+ is what I will be getting.

Havent tested full stability yet, but what I feel is 3000mhz is definitely stable. Anyways for a rock solid overclock I would look for a better heatsink.

Don´t know, I don´t trust the sensors on the motherboard, it reads lower than ambient on idle :stick:

so then use that as your offset i am sure those bios must allow u to do that...BTW great results there...

One question is it just me or is EVERYONE with these AM2 chips hitting the vcore INSANLEY hard?? and they r still on stock air?!? i am not complaining if these chips can take it then i am all for it but it is still 90nm the only diff is sckt and ddr2 mc...

It must just be because of the DDR2 of maybe even the chipset...seems to me like it is the chipset the mc flies gives LL oc on it also...maybe the nb heat issue can be related to the poor performance of these chips?
