From what i've heard the nF590 board is Oskar's work ... for the rest, i don't know.

Edit: RD600 has only 8X/8X PCI-e lanes, but supports DDR3.

The i975x is going to be cheap since it's INFINITY. I hope they will have some kickass SLI m/b's because I'm not a big fan of ATI :D

Willis, nF570 doesn't support Linkboost (performance enhancement with SLI'ed 7900 cards) and that board might not be designed by Oskar. These are two important things to consider, IMO.

Edit: i thought you were refering to the 570SLI version ... disregard the first part of my comment, or just take it as a general remark.

Looks pretty good on paper, performance will be the key..;)

I find it hard to believe that rd600 doesn't have dual x16 slots though. Why would they have cut back from rd580?

they had been forgotten to put ich8r!

DFI will be releasing a lot of motherboards this year. Everything should be featured, from the most basic motherboards to the super high end ones. The LP UT nF590 SLI-M2R/G will replace the nF4 SLI-DR Expert, with an NVIDIA chipset, offering AM2 and providing extreme performance and overclockability. All features that mark out DFI motherboards, such as CMOS Reloaded and EZ On will remain present. Crossfire users will be glad to know that a Crossfire-ready motherboard is on its way too, the LP UT CFX3300-M2R/G, will bear similar features to the NVIDIA-based motherboard. ok, but you have to admit their execution engines are Identical except for one is 32bit and the other is 64bit

tbh i am more interested in better crossfire performance that seems to be had out of the intel chipset + conroe than the ability to get a massive overclock out of it. i'd settle for a 20-25% Conroe OC if the crossfire capabilities match what weve seen so far from the likes of FCGs results.
like was said earlier - it will be a shame if the only 975x board is an infinity range. they use cheaper caps and have less potential imo.

Memrom is the replacement for Yonah, Yonah is a mobile chip.

Conroe is a desktop chip ( desktop version of Memrom) so that is why DFi are not making a motherboard for either.

Hmmmm anyone know if DFI will be moving opnto digital power regulation with these new boards? The Albatron board looked really interesting, but if DFI can "follow suit" then it would definatly be worth investigating. Also why all this negative chat about infinity boards, iirc back in the NF2 days the only difference between the Infinity and Lanparty range was the price tag and amount of extra crap you got in the box :p: Lets first see what DFI make of the X975 chipset then comment on the "cheapness" of the board.

lets hope DFI have done some magic with the fsb limitations and all the conroe mobos will do 600fsb :woot:

WoodCrest will replace current Dempsey core in Xeon server CPUs. Model name will change to 51xx accordingly.

Does anyone know if a Xeon 5130 would outperform a Conroe 6600 because of its higher fsb?

I thought all Woodcrest based systems are Dual-cpu + 1333Mhz DIB (like Bensley's 1066Mhz DIB today) instead of 1333Mhz FSB.... :rolleyes:

All the cpu's interact with a 1333 bus, its the chipset thats DIB.

if you will notice the bandwidth isn't going to scale that well.

Big multiway systems and Intel still don't go together which is a shame considering the power of their upcomming processors. I might be selling my AMD processor, mobo and RAM to get some intel action next year unless AMD really mange to pull something spectacular out of the bag with K8L. They'd still have to bring it forwards though.

Can anyone please explain to me how to calculate the FLOPS of a computer, I didnt get what the inq said... And whats more important, Peak FLOPS or Max FLOPS?

2-nodes means 2 systems with 2 dual-core cpus on each = 8 core total.
24 peak GFlops is pretty impressive number

A FEW DAYS AGO, a friend told me that the famous Linpack FLOPs benchmark for matrix multiplication, still used (despite its near uselessness in real apps) to rank the world's TOP 500 supercomputers, will run on the Conroe and Woodcrest far better than expected, due to the recent compiler and tuning advances.

Intel's server market chips are "t3h suck" when it comes to scaling with multiple chips. Now, while this means nothing to us, it means the world to big companies, and this is why Dell is going AMD for servers.

Put an 8 to 16 way intel against an 8 to 16 way AMD and see what occurs... The bandwidth is going to choke the intel system to the point of lights out, while the AMD will take little to no hit due to it's MUCH better interconnect method.

Intel cancelling CSI essentially killed it in the server market.

There aren't many 8S Opteron system to compare first as currently, neither HP or Sun make one. There are 8S+ Xeon MP systems from IBM and Unisys. And its false that Opteron takes no hit, past 4S cache coherency traffic and the number of hops between CPUs begins to heavily impact Opteron's scalability.

Having an insane FSB doesn't always help much. I don't see much difference from 1200mhz to 1340mhz, but upwards of 1066mhz would probably be beneficial to the newer more powerful architectures.

Is it just me...or do I see a ~$200 cpu with 4MB Cache :eek:

I understand though that it only uses FB-Dimms ? :(

they're already cheaper than the comparative amd product, and by all indications higher performing. so they're already pretty good value comparatively. No real price premiums over the conroe variants.

Got a link to back that claim up? All I've seen so far is a 2GHz dual Cloverton (8 cores) outperforming an 8 way 2GHz Opteron in Cinebench. Although the Opteron system did scale 1% better from 1 core to 8 than Cloverton, I wouldn't call that an "extreme performance hit".

I know it takes somewhat of a hit, but not much. Definitely nowhere close to intels hit...

Scalingwise the bandwidth bottleneck chokes xeons.

Pity that the Inq writers can't even keep up with their own rumors. This article contradicts at least two other recent Inq articles. While this one says that Woodcrest's TDP is 80W another recent article claims that Woodcrest's TDP has been lowered to 65W. Where this article says that Intel has merely caught up to Opteron, another recent one says that Woodcrest will own Opteron in the 1 and 2 socket market segment.

BTW, since when does a northbridge take 30W? IIRC a dual socket 3G Woodcrest system draws less power than a dual 2.4G Rev. E Opteron system, even with the northbridge factored in. Rev. F might even that up a bit.

CSI maybe starts already with the Tigerton MP, the Quad-Core MP Version based on the "Core" microarchitecture concept.

With CSI and 4x3,0 GHz it could be a real competitor to K8L. :rolleyes:

tigerton is the replacement to whitefield, the xeon that was tagged to have csi. Due to problems implementing csi, whitefield was scrapped, and tigerton was hobbled together in its place. Its just a dual die FSB based Xeon.

Its likely that the nehelam architecture will be the first to integrate CSI on the desktop front, and is likely a second gen 45nm part (after the shrink and cache increses to the core2 design).

The itanium is absolutely awesome at what it does, which is, not running 3dmarks, so i guess thats why you think it does nothing. But theres no contest as to whether or not it was a commercial failure.

If Intel can be close to Opteron with there old design and by the benchies Ive seen the new cores are faster with using FSB then imagine how fast with a IMC on it...
