Just a normal for now (E6600/E6700) and a XE when the price drops a bit. (and when multi is unlocked 4 sure)
In the UK their probaly gonna cost a lot, so i'll probaly go regular conroe,
anyone know any rough UK prices?
Myself? The normal one as well. I originally had the 1.6A, 1.8A, 2.4C etc so I am waiting for that middle of the road golden baby. :)
a normal one with 4mb
Don't have the money to buy a Conroe XE. I guess it will be the E6600 :) My thirth 2.4GHz CPU in a row
The first was my 2.4B Northwoord, second is my current CPU, an Athlon 64 3400+ Newcastle and the thirth will be my Conroe :D
I'm aiming for a XE :p
-k0nsl
+1. Thinking about E6700 for a start. XE later. ;)Quote:

I think the 6600 is the one for me, i hope it will boot up on 9x333 with a TT BigTyphoon and then clock it further from there. Anyway, i take the first Connie* i can get my hands on, availability will decide.
(*Conroe sounds too maskuline, and this cpu is a BABE, so Connie it is)
Like others E6700 to start, Big Poppa XE down the line.
I won't be able to afford an XE straight off the bat, so it looks like it's an E6600 for me. :)
E6700 for me :)
Hah funny, I always go one step above 2.0A, 2.66B, 2.6C, 3.0E, 3200+winny, 3500+venice, Opty 170Quote:

Thinking about regular E6600 or E6700 . XE is expensive ...
i am waiting fo K8L if that architecture isnt any good i am going intel :(
selling off my 2 kids for the XE..:D
E6700 for definite, although XE is tempting given I have a modded Vapo LS.....
XE for sure here
I'm going too have to wait and see what they all clock like before i can say which one i'll buy although i doubt i will afford an XE ever....
I'll probably get something like 5 6600 or 6700's and handpick the best one and sell the rest. That's what gives me most fun.
Conroe Regular.
XE tiny chance(probably buy a used one later on?). If Intel are employing an exclusive technology into the architecture only through the XE, slightly bigger chance(good for Intel, bad for low-mid budget builders). But decisions are based on what you can afford, and what you can get most out of that dollar.
E6900 when they get out
because i like round number,3.2g ;p
Agree, and there must be more to XE than just higher bus speed and unlocked multiplier if its going to be worth the XE price. In this other thread about the first XE's may not being 1333FSB and only 2.93G (266x11), some guys mentioned HT2. If HT2 is real it could be a great cpu, if not its just a 10% increase in clockspeed over the Connie 6700 (as it is out of the box), and the rest of the extra bucks is just for the unlocked multiplier. Theres gotta be more to the Connie XE than that! If 1066FSB and 2.93G is the reality for the first XE then i truly belive in HT2.Quote:

E6600 for me.
Can't hardly wait.. I hope it won't be delayed.
What are the Conroe chips supposed to retail for?
I'll never personally be able to validate buying a $1K chip, but I'm certainly planning to make the switch from AMD to Intel when Conroe arrives.
i will be buying probably 2-3 of the 6600's and 6700's. you know these are going to sell out so fast... going to buy mb's too.
definately not an XE. too rich for my blood.
If the XE is clocking much better than regular Conroe, I'll sell my 955XE + G1975X and get a Conroe XE + D975XBX. :D
E6600 or E6700 depending on which clocks higher on air/water. Not worth the cash if the E6700 cant clock that much higher than the others. Time will tell :D
E6600 or 6700, depends on price in Norway.
regular Conroe(3-4) for a start ,XE later
howcome everyone wants to get the intel 975 board? why not wait till a REAL board is released? by real i mean asus, dfi, etc.
The INTEL board is quite decent. All the World Records being set nearly daily are on the INTEL board. It HAS good OC options!Quote:

Im not sure which one at the mo,but the best bang for the buck will be my probable choice,i'll wait for the results from you guys before i put down the Green.Cant wait!!!!!!!! :toast:
Fugger and FCG on Intel, Coolaler on MSIQuote:

Im going to buy E6600, but will have to wait for the DFI MATX board, does anyone have a release date for it?
actually it does have Vcore adj... you just need to use the iNtel BIOS tool. And there's a pin mod to give 1.45v also...Quote:

if I can get money anyhow - I like AMD but respect Intel's work that much I get the best oc combination the time will show sooner or later, branded with Intel ;) .
90% of consumers dont know how to use intel bios tool or even know that it exists. and pin mod? thats very risky on a 775 IMO. i will never buy another intel board again, they dont offer near the performance imo that an asus or other manufacturer does.Quote:

If the performance is lacking it will be XE model for me . Using the Intel Bad AXE M/B
XE and plonk it under cascade. :D
Make it my first dedicated benching rig w00t.
E6600. As long as it does 333x9 I'll be happy. Although I think I will get some DDR2 800 just in case it does 400x9 :D
Who told you this?, The Bad axe along with the D955XBK, both have Vcore options, MCH, VDIMM etc.Quote:

Probably, not, but the board certainly has enough to get good OCs. It was enough to get my Presler to 5.1 Ghz (Sucide) on air....Also you can ask quite a few people on this forum and they will say that the Intel board is more stable and robust then the ASUS one. My friends P5LD2 has more bios options than my D955XBK but he cant OC anywhere near as good as mine. Intel boards didnt OC well in the past, but thats changing...Quote:

i didnt know there was an intel tool, and guess what... im a consumer. common or not, i am. intel boards are not my thing. i dont like them. especially since they dont offer half the features of a brand like asus. can you please link me to where it says that you can change vcore in an unmodded board? by unmodded i mean no mods of any kind, straight from the box. im not saying it doesnt exist, but ive heard differently.Quote:

Fugger was using a Bad axe M/B no mods . It looks pretty good to me. Fugger could you please comment on the O/C options on the Intel Bad Axe M/B please.
I think I'll go with the E6700. The x1900 CF is going to eat all my money. :(
6600, If the conroe 6600 can OC to 3.4G on air with stock volts, then i will run it at 3.2G since i want a quiet and cool running system. I want it to run stable during the hot summer months also.
6700, If the 6700 can OC to 3.6G on air with stock volts, then I will run it at 3.4G and also wait for the price to drop.
If the 6600 and 6700 have similar OC ceilings, then get the 6600 and spend the extra money on 4G of RAM.
In a few months a lot can change, so the input by members here will impact my decision also.
E6600 at first, XE when it comes out.
gotta have me a E6700
i will sell movieman for any conroe xD
I buying a E6700 for my main rig, and just maybe a E4200 to play with. I realy wonder about mobos for a E4200?
:bounce:
Surely a E6600/6700
I'm upgrading from a 3Gig 165, Ultra-D, 2*1GB Ballistix. Kinda wanna break even, maybe spill a tad over, so it's probably the e6600. One thing I'd like to know is how to select a good clocker. AMD CPUs have steppings and week (most important part), what do you look for when buying an intel?
It depends on how well I sell my sig comp, but surely I'll take a 6600 for the 4mb and a DFI board and take it closer to 400*9 with a Big Typhoon if that's possible :D
As thunderstruck! said, does Intel also have good stepp/week/batches?
XE :) cant wait to put it under a vapochill LS !!!
Getting an E6700 first and, finances permitting, an EX later.
I'll probably go with the E6700, provided I have the funds. Otherwise on phase I'll be maxing out my fsb before I max out the chip. :p:
6700, i'd like XE but don't think i'll have enough money... :(
6700 and 6600 for me.
looks like i'll be getting the XE...
E6600 Baby!Quote:

E6700 for me, but my question is DDR2 667 or DDR2 800, any advice? I probably wont ever go beyond air cooling if that helps.
6700 X 5... i need lower current draw! My electric bill is out of control and its not even summer yet!
BTW.. does anyone have an idea what DDR2 prices are going to end up at? Hopefully not anything like current gas prices!

I'll buy whatever is in the $400CAN range. The way they perform, I don't think anyone -needs- to go all out ;)
The E6600 will be $399CNDQuote:

most prob will go for a 6600 if i do buy at launch @ USD300++..either that or just wait for more matured steppings n get the 6700 later when the price drops...which most prob be a few months down the road...
E6600 or E6400 is enough for me.
