hrmm, says i may not post attatchments.....
It works for me.
Thats a 120x38MM 1amp fan. Its not even too loud. The HS is a heavily modded VGA silencer.
craig what did you do to the VGA?
Does this Radeon 9800 Pro air cooling mod qualify for the Xtreme Air Cooling label?
im speechless ...

I was thinking about using one of the big SLK's for the core too, but settled for the smaller SLK600 as I wanted to make some HUGE sinks for the BGA's. Seeing your mod I might reconsider the mod though - xtreme is never xtreme enough :D
Btw: Why aren't you using two fans on top of that SLK900U :stick: :D
Really Huge Coolermaster Hyper 6 Heatpipe with two YS Tech w. poti
http://manner83.bei.t-online.de/bilder/hyper6.jpg
Good idea, All Kill3r.
I'll sticky this one.
The Hyper 6 is a nice heatsink, isn't it? Here's a crappy phonecam pic of my work in progress mod of it on my 9800 Pro :D
http://premium.uploadit.org/Kameleon/hyper6pwnage.jpg
It'll probably end up with 2 Tornados in push-pull, it all hinges on whether the AGP extender I'm getting will run the card alright, as otherwise I'd need to dremel out my PCI slots for the cooler to fit centrally on the core :D Need to chop up some huge BGA sinks for it too, the current ones are abysmal, and the new ones aren't big enough for my liking - turned two of these, i865 NB sinks...
http://premium.uploadit.org/Kameleon/sink.jpg
...into eight of these
http://premium.uploadit.org/Kameleon/sinks.jpg
Pics of the complete card when finished ;)
OMFG!
will you install the vga normally ? i mean... 1KG copper :D
Well it's not going in a case, I can tell you that for free ;) The weight would shear the card in half. It'll just be a motherboard-sitting-on-box job like it is now, with the cooler resting on the PCI slots. I've had to buy an AGP extender too, which will make the board even less portable :D Expect some sort of ghetto mod like Coke bottle caps to hold the cooler up off the PCI slots as with the extender in there'll be a bit of a gap between it and the board. HaLDoL just broke Stang's aircooled XP record, I'd like to shoot for that if at all possible :DQuote:

damn nice ramsinks there m8 :D
Yeah, nice work on the BGA sinks Kameleon
Thanks guys - yours are pretty godlike too, LOL :D Anyone got any quick suggestions as to what would be relatively safe to push the voltages to with this cooling? I'm also thinking of trying to get something for the backside of the GPU but I have no idea how I'd buffer it from crushing the SMD resistors...Quote:

I just had to ask.
Yep, first post. Noobie over here, well to here anyway.
 :D :D :D
I've been told that the max voltage on the core is about 2.0V and on the mem 3.20-3.40V. For record benching you could go 2.10V on the core and 3.4-3.5V on the mem. Mine is fed 1.96V on the core and 3.08V on the mem on a daily basis.Quote:

As to the back of the GPU, I made a sink for my old GF 4 Ti 4200 that fit right in the middle of the core where there's no risistors. Mounted it with thermal tape. Meassures: 30x30x25mm (LxWxH). What you do is to cut away some of the base without resizing the overall deminsions of the base. The result should be a sink with app. 10x10mm contact surface that fits in the middle of the core back with a bigger overall base size of 30x30mm. I haven't got any pic's but I hope the description makes sense to you.
I haven't been able to do that mod to my R9800Pro due to the Swiftech MCX159-R sitting on my northbridge.
Good luck :)
Welcome to the madness :)Quote:

You can rest assured that the card runs hot when gaming a few hours :D
Well..
This is my Soltek Barebone...
I have mounted a Zally CNPS7000A-Cu on my A64....

I still need some Vmods on the mobo, cause i can only give the CPU 1.55vcore and 2.8vdimm, and thats just NOT enough for me
:p: I want to overclock this bastard :D
So rigth now its just running stock-speed (Pretty Xtreme, huh ) and i cant live with that :)

OK I was messing with Painshop Pro and realized that I had not yet posted a system pic. Its not really Xtreme (since my mobile died) but it doesn't get over 41C underload even when the room temp is over 29C. Its now regressed to a prelock 2500 at 2.2 gHz and a single fan slk900a.
(EDIT) Got bored at 2.2 pushed it up to 2.4gHz
Enjoy!
Not what I'd call "Xtreme", but it gets the job done.

a0chicken - is the fan hanging by the bolts of the zalman cooler?! :p:
yeah, how the hell is the fan attached there? :P
Oh, sorry.
Yes it is :p:
lol that's some pretty ghetto cooling there, even ripping of the fan of the zalman wtg. ;) :toast:Quote:

Here is my cooling, works pretty good, but a bit loud. I am at 33c right now. Second picture is how it is now, sleeved and cleaned up a bit.
Looks wicked tho maybe a bit dusty. ;)Quote:

Actually, a day after I took that picture, I redid the system, so it is not dusty now, has full sleeving, much better wire management, as I removed connectors that I don't use from the PSU, and put some heatsinks on mosfets. I have a total of 480gb in that machine, always need more. That thing on top of the case is for my remote control, x10 universal remote with rf for the computer, pretty sweet, and I got it on sale for $5.00. Pictures of before and after are above.

you guys must have serious hearing problem... :D
when you turn on your comp, you barely won't hear anything even when someone called u...
I've been there...my pc sound like helicopter :D...I put fans on my case in everyplace that could hold it...
the question is which is the most effective...most cooler but less noise...that goes for vga card too...
do u guys metered up the noise too?
well I haven't taken any photos yet since after I installed all the fans and the VGA cooling but I gotta say sound= a problem :) I can't EVER sleep with my computer on.
But I thought I was going overkill with fans and stuff but you guys are sick :)
I'll post here my config( cooling config ;) )
On CPU:
Thermalright SP 97
+ 92 mm Enermax fan
Outtake:
2x 80MM coolermaster
On intake
(soon to be permanent)
PAPST 120 mm FAN (WHOOO LOW NOISE!!! )
VGA:
Zalman C version heatpipe cooler
+ Appropriate fan
Soon to be added:
-60mm fan on Mosfets
-80 or 2x 30 mm fans on the RAM
-80mm intake in the front.
:toast:
My computer is nigh near inaudible, just the occasional zigs from the harddrive. This is at 2650 mhz btw, it doesn't HAVE to be loud to be effective aircooling.

Hey Buzz can you post a picture of the full case from the side, or a closer one of the harddrives in the 5.25" bay?
I was thinking of doing something similar and taking out the bottom drive bay to free up a bit of airflow.
I'll post some pictures of my outdated setup later tonight. :)

Nothing much, but it runs cool.
I wish I had a heatsink that could run a bigger fan so I could cut down on a bit of noise .
How do you people set the wires so neatly? My Antec True 550 wires are everywhere.
Hey Guys, I have been looking at the pictures that you have all posted of your pcs and thaughtthat I should chip in. Nothing quie as extreme as some of you but iits ok(ish) :)

What a monster. :D
How much did you gain in oc?
thats giant, what temps are you running with that thing and what are your clocks??
Gain -> dunno, got the card back from RMA (I do love Hercules support! :toast: ) and immediately slapped that :banana::banana::banana::banana: on :D
I run it at 454MHz, mem 396MHz, (Compare URL) and v-mods on their way!
Temps -> dunno, no probe on the core, but with fan on max speed, it is extremely loud and soooo cool :D ;)
Btw, here's my NB-cooler: http://users.pandora.be/zmarre/mod/IM000105.JPG :)
lol just looking around your forums here don't mind me. ok you guys may know this already or whatever cuz i assume it's pretty common knowledge, but my brother said when he got his case, he had a top fan on it blowing in, and he thought, since you know hot air rises, he'd flip it over and suck out the hot air and blow it right out, with the fans on the sides and fronts sucking air in. well apparently it lowered his temp like 5-10 degrees. just throwing this in here in case it's of any help to anybody and wondering why a case manufacturer hadn't thought of it =/

these coolers looks cool !!
@Sentential: nice ac setups you have/had :) but what is that copper bar like thing next to your gfx card? For straightening of the card? Is not really needed tho, I have 500Gr hanging at my card for months now without such things :)

except for your case wires being messy, i think ur case is sweet! especially that Fan youve mounted on the right side of the case which blows on your hdd!!
also how do those 2 fans on the back of the case go? do they blow faster??

lol thanks...sort of :D 1. I'm not that patient nor clever when it comes to organization. Theres 9 case fans, 1 tornado for the CPU, 2 HD's, 2 optical drives, a fan controller, and a whole mess of y-splitters, 4pin to 3pin adapaters and vice versa, 3pin extensions.Quote:
except for your case wires being messy, i think ur case is sweet
That what you see there is an hours worth of attempting at cable managing lol. But this is all within a mid-tower case and that thermaltake PSU has LOONG wires. Also (obviously) I didn't have any cool tubing and wires wouldn't fit behind the mobo, so that's about the best I could do for cable management.
lol best analogy I've heard yet. That's not my case anymore though. I've since moved it into a full tower case with not all those fans on it cause I got tired of trying to navigate through all those wires.Quote:
it looks more like a backstage of a concert with cable everywhere .
Oh well like I said it kept really cool haha, was just a pain in the ass to add or remove anything from the case
EDIT: Sorry almost forgot to address this lol:
Yeah it's not double the power or anything of course, but I didn't notice a nice increase of airflow indeed. They weren't the most powerful of fans as it was, so hell if you have two weak 80mm's then it's not a bad quick way to add a little bit of more CFM to them. BTW: I spliced the wires together eventually so they both ran off one power line. If you can manage to get two fans, one spinning clock wise, the other spinning counter, yet blow air in the same direction, you can get a compression effect with an even higher boost in CFM than just two fans with blades spinning the same way ;)Quote:
also how do those 2 fans on the back of the case go? do they blow faster??

Here is a picture through where the floppy drive did go, but I thought it was ugly, so I removed it, and left the cover off, for a bit of natural ventilation. (Might put a fan there, as I have 2 80mm and 1 70mm fans that are currently unused.)
