Only BT program that's never given me problems is the original BitTorrent Client and it does everything I want so thats what I use.
I use azureus, i've tried so many other programs but none offer the same features/download speeds as azureus
bit tornado
bitcomet
Bit tornado
Azureus here...
azureus is the best i've used.
Bitcomet here.

I say "if" you have the resources because with just three torrents loaded up the java engine of Azureus is using 89MB of RAM.
azureus + safepeer plugin on a dedicated download box. for the longest time, it was a p2 400/256mb ram. now it's a p4m/512mb ram.
i have to give azureus a try.
Azureus here also
Azureus is a RAM hog. It's good but very resource heavy. I'm going to dl Bit Tornado to give it a try.
EDIT: Azureus is what I use right now, though.
Another vote for azureus.. Best Tool!
EDIT: check out the new 2.300 version.. I like the new console details and Swarm graph :)
Which websites you use since Suprnova died?
I use Bit Spirit and Exeem Lite right now, but none are ideal :(
well guys i dl azureus and........ WOW!! much better than the bit torrent program i used 2 use last yr :D and ive got 2gb of system ram so it dnt affect me at all :toast:
i just tried out azureus and dont like it, too big and yeah same d/l speeds as bit tornado, bit tornado all the way nice and lean
same :D :DQuote:

Bit Tornado!!
Bit Tornado for sure, no bull:banana::banana::banana::banana:.
Bittornado for sure !!!
Never had even one problem with that program and I've been using it for about a year or even longer now.
*Is it legal to post links to torrentsites here?
Bit Comet roxxx !!
Azureus
ABC or Bittornado.
Azureus hands down - end of discussion :D
IMHO the best one out there is ABC which is in turn based off of Bit Tornado, but I think it's a real big improvement.
i used to use bit comet but it didnt work on one of the sites i use. so i switched to bit tornado, and its doing fine
the writer of bittorrent gives a lecture about it. under the hood of bittorrent. good lecture, imo
http://stanford-online.stanford.edu/...-ee380-100.asx
he's vocal of bad incarnations of this protocol, rather funny.
Azureus fan and loyal user here, if I was going for more of a "lite" program, I'd go with ABC.
Azureus has tons more features, but I'm sticking with Bit Tornado for now. (I only have 512MB of RAM and I don't want to use 90MB+ just for BT :slap: )
using exeem, had azureus before.. I dont like either of them really.
I would never use Exeem - Exeem has way too much adware/spyware for its own good. Exeem lite is the way to go :toast:
I use bitcomet.
turbo torrent, on the few occasions I ever use a torrent, this suits my needs perfectly. install, click the torrent link and done, I don't have to configure a thing :)
maybe I'll give the ones that are so popular in this thread a try :)
Azerous - JAVA APP = EATS RAM LIKE A FAT KID EATS CAKE, but loaded with features.
yABC - Yet Another Bittorrent Client - Very good client, works very quickly.
Bit Torrent Client 4.0 - The latest client made by the same developer as Bit Torrent is my favorite now. Its very simple and uses very little resources. You can download it from http://www.bittorrent.com/
Oh yeah, exeem is the rebirth of suprnova, the online torrent search directory. Exeem is a client though that uses torrents as the back end. POS imho.
use torrentspy.com and bittornado
torrentspy and abc :D
I hate to be a downer, but whatever you do, DO NOT USE EXEEM.
Traces of Cydoor and other spyware have been found buried in the installation. There's a "lite" version that cleans it up, but it's rarely updated... so I wouldn't even bother with it.
Furthermore, the Exeem protocol is not entirely decentrallized like the developer said it would be. It still requires a central server to connect to other peers and search for downloads, which can be monitored more easily than a regular tracker.
I was never really able to get consistent downloads at high bandwidths out of Exeem anyway...
The best BT clients I've worked with are BitComet(you have to patch the peerid or else certain trackers might ban you because of a peer connectivity feature BC has) and Azureus.
Azureus, however, is a resource hog... so if you're going to use it, disable all of the features and plugins you don't need. If you're a more advanced user that knows their way around Java, you can just rip out the classes you don't need.
Just remember to practice safe piracy and use Protowall and/or Peerguardian2.
i think you should at least try Bit Comet
ABC.. simple and does wat it does.. :)
ABC here as well, its plain its simple its good.
Come on, surely everyone knows that BitTornado is SUPERIOR! Very small memory footprint, very reliable, Unix versions availible, and lots of configuration features to keep people busy! :)
Not shure about now, but last time i used that it opened all my dl's in differnt windows and didnt save proggress so if i shutdown my pc at night or something i would have to restart the dl in the morning. So PFF Superior
bittornado.
I tried ABC and now I'm addicted :D Azeurus was not only a memory hog but it was also an internet hog, if I was downloading even one torrent no one else in my family could use the internet, but now with ABC I can download 10 torrents and the internet still works fine, plus the torrents even download faster! :woot:
Yabc here. Speeds are average. But its bittornado with more control of each torrent. It seems though that i am always uploading faster than i download and that bothers me. I wish they could be symmetric.

If you really like ABC that much, though, you should make the jump to BitComet. It's a lot better than ABC.
I use Azeurus and boxtorrents.
Edit: I don't know where people got the idea that azeurus is a hog:
http://www.xtremesystems.org/forums/...id=31754&stc=1
I have circled some apps with large amounts of ram in use to show that things run fine even with all of this. I crank out about 150cands/day in d2ol and am able to play guild wars while running all of these with only 1gb of RAM.
D2OL uses about 65mb for me, so this should give you a good idea of how much it uses.
abc client movie sized files usually finish in aobut 4-6 hours, record is 27minx 850 gig divx.
but i guess one of hte top ten rules of the int0rw3b is clear when ti states not to count your torrents before they download
Yupp, ABC it is.
BitComet, very good, very stable.
Well, you do realize that javaw.exe is the Java Runtime Enviornment that Azureus uses to execute... right?Quote:

Although, I think the usage on your JRE is about 65% attributed to Azureus and the other 35% is attributed to D2oL, which consequently uses JRE too.
As for all of you ABC users... I really don't see the appeal... other than the remote operation feature. You should really try BitComet, though. It has a feature that pulls peer lists from other peers, so that you always have a sufficient amount of people to download the file from.
Azureus works fine for me, i leave it running all the time cept when im gaming online (900 ping is not a good thing)
Someone mentioned Peerguardian2 earlier... I wouldn't recommend that at all. I tried using it, ended up with it using 70-80% of the CPU when it had lots of connections.
Oh, and I also use Azureus, and Piratebay for finding torrents.
That's true for PeerGuardian Lite and PeerGuardian... but the latest version of PeerGuardian 2 is actually very resource consciencious. I haven't seen it use processor resources unless it's updating the blocklists, and it only uses 2MB of ram.
You can even reduce resource usage by having it parse the addresses by range and have it omit the name lookup.
Abc's newest version has a memory leak, over 400k mem usage after being left on over night. So untill that is resolved in there next build back to Azureus I go.
Even with a memory leak, ABC's footprint is a lot smaller than Azureus'.
You might want to give BitComet a shot.
Exeeem
:)

I'm assuming you meant 400MB(400k or ~400,000 kilobytes), in which case I find that kinda hard to believe to be a natural occurrance.
The only other possible way(besides a virus) that it could bloat internally like that is if the files you're downloading and hashing are all over 2GB... and you would have to be downloading a few of them.
In this case, I would advise you to schedule the downloads so that only one is active at a time. Not only will this potentially fix the resource usage, but it'll improve download speed, because bandwidth isn't allocated among downloads.
However, as I said before, ABC pales in comparison to BitComet... so you should just use that instead.
and what for linux ?
Sorry by k i ment thousand, yes 400mb's of ram usage. With about 140gbs of stuff being downloaded.
I'm using Azeurus in suse 9.3 and ubuntu 5.4 :)Quote:

yall shoudl try bitlord its better than anyting i suggest you upload to your max so you can help people out i'm currently uploading my files at 150 KB/s yea thats KB not Kb :slapass:
Azeureus here.
azureus here.
BitLord, an optimized BitTornado.
i used to use azureus but got fed up with it hogging resources. tried bitcomet and bit tornado but they always seemed to download real slow and i tested it out by trying the same torrent on all 3 clients and azureus always downloaded at twice the speed of the other 2 ( they never seemed to go above 25-30 kb\s) trying bitlord now.. looks exactly the same as bitcomet ( both c++ ) maybe a modded version of it i dont care to find out really and its getting ok speeds. just glad i only use it to find old stuff which isnt on newsgroups or it would drive me mad dl at them speeds all the time
bittornado if you ask me.
azureus or bitcomet
I'm using Azureus because I just put a gig of ram in my laptop, but before that, Azureus was painfully slow with only 512 mb. I've never tried BitComet, but it seems to be the other favorite.
Why would you need a gig of ram to run azureus?
Worked fine on my system with 256mb .. although I normally run 768.
I use azureus but ive never tried anything else.
I didn't need a gig to run Azureus, but I couldn't do much other than download about 5 torrents when I only had 512 mb. I don't have many background processes/apps running either.
Very strange ..
I have 2 torrents DLing and seeding 23 and its using a mere 1.3mb of memory..
have you got the torrent cache for DL set very high or somthing?
My cache is set to 4mb, but it dosent seem to use anything like that much
bit tornado
Azureus>ALL
Azureus is godly.
bit tornado
I've tried many of the clients and am most fond of Azureus. Hence, I stick to that one.
I've never had any problems with BitTornado.
Using Bitlord. Best I have ever used.
i like bittornado, its simple and ez, i used azureus for a while, but i dunno, i had prolems with the enterface, but anyways, once u get the port forwarding for tornado its great, just open like 10 ports and BAM!
bitcomet
small footprint, stable, and fast enough for me.
Yep, can't beat azureus. Great interface.Quote:

I'm happy with Azureus.... I've tried 10 other BT programs on this torrent, and all give me tracker errors.
I use Azureus, never had problems with it
dont mention illegal sites on these forums. seriously.Quote:

Bitcomet here. Does anyone know how to speed up downloads I only get 4-20 kbps, I also download torrents with lots of seedars.
bitcomet here :D
I can reach 200kb/s
BtSpirit 3.0.087
most of time can reach 350k/sec
