Yes, AFUDOS v1.16b2 supported forcing the flash.
The newer versions do not unless they are engineer versions.
Performance Level @ 7 now, lets see how it runs. Couldn't get 4, even with Cas 4 but that seems to be just out of reach...
ok, apparently an 'older version' of afudos is all thats nessessary.
using this command:
afudos /ibiosname /n /pbnc
-----------------------------
**i ripped this from another forum**
afudos /iBIOSNAME.rom
afudos /iBIOSNAME.rom /pnc
afudos /iBIOSNAME.rom /n /pnbc
The first choice is what most manuals will tell you to use. The one in the middle uses "switches" that tells afudos to "program NVRAM" and "destroy System CMOS." The last choice additionally tells afudos to "don't check ROM ID" and to "Program Boot Block."
----------------------------------
and finally; i believe i have stumbled upon afudos 1.16b2
i uploaded it here:
http://rapidshare.com/files/99046156/AFUDOS.exe.html
*crosses fingers*
Yup. The correct syntax "should" be --> afudos /iRAMPAGE.ROM /n /pnbc
...just like to old "Pat Hack" days. :D
here is an old version I have this will work with all switches but im unsure if it will do core8 files
I have had the genuine 2.27, it may still be here somwhere...more later
Version linked here is 1.16B2
version 4.04 supports switches and quiet operation may force
AFUDOS bios.rom /P/B/N/C/Q
I may have other copies on an old drive.
I also have F32A.EXE which i used to flash both BIN and ROM files, not sure it works with core 8 though
Edit I just rechecked and this version has switches for don't check rom ID, so you would need the following.
afudos bioname.rom /P/B/N/C/X
This should force the flash
Tested both mine and no worky :(
playing with v2.07 last night the only error i got before the no flash was a bad checksum, no match or something like that... so i will take what i learned flashing 2900xt's on a abit mobo and make matching checksums. hopefully it will work as the /n switch DID work :)
I uploaded afudos V4.xx information and usage for you.

Few things regarding the flasher:
The flasher needs to support the EEPROM & bios core versions before it can program anything.
First AFUDOS version which supports MXIC 25L1605A 16MB EEPROM (Rampage & Maximus) is version 2.23 IIRC.
AFUDOS or AFUWIN from AMI will NOT work because Asus uses customised AMI8 core. If you try to use either of them you will be prompted "bios does not support AFU"
Unless you are using the engineer version of ASUS AFUDOS /n /pbnc or any other switches will NOT help you. These switches have been disabled in standard version.
The standard version is restricted and it will not even program the DMI block (the main reason why I use khan.exe).
so...
whats the solution now? we should just stick with the original instructions from Stilt?
Could this be a bug? I'm running an E8400.
what does tRFC go to in the rampage bios? If 42 this will not help those with 4 and 8GB kits so really not worth the flash IMO until it does.
You guys might want to give this very beta a try:
Asus Rampage Formula v0214 Beta ( Click to download )
This one has higher tRFC options and can help in 2GB DIMMs overclocking.
There's a chance of getting lower overclocks with 45nm CPUs with this BIOS ( not tested though, it's just a possibility ), but for 65nm it's definitely ok.
