Man... I think this weekend I'll follow suit.

I just wish I had a decent CPU to run before/after benchmarks on.

I'll do it anyway... unless the rest of my parts come in and I'm building. Either way, I'll be sure to do some benchies before and after the flashing.

Interesting find. Well done.

I've found my first bug in this Rampage bios. Occasionally the multiplier won't change regardless of what you set it to, eg:

I was running 9x and the switch to 8x, but even though the bios settings saved and everything else changed the multi was @ 9x when I rebooted and re-entered the bios.

Now it's either getting stuck @ default multi or sticking @ the last multi used before changing, not sure yet.

I wondered why my boot kept failing and then it got a bit further and I saw I was booting @ 4.2GHz with 1.45v! :D

AFUWIN is not supported by this bios, apparently? So says the software when I try to run it...

but, if said afudos emerges *i can search like a mofo* that is the engineering version.

1.) how would i identify it as such?
2.) could i do a direct flash instead of the hacked front-end loader as was this thread was based upon?

id rather do a direct flash if possible than do it from a usb stick as i dont have one handy:( will ez flash recognize cd?

Honestly I don't know how we'd know but is it worth trying the /n and /nr parameters that were detailed above for ignoring ROM ID with AFUDOS (any version, apparently?)

I think so, from what was said up there ^^^? Easiest way to try would be directly flashing the Rampage bios, if it works with those parameters then it'll work to flash back too... If it doesn't work then you'll have to ask The Stilt for a recovery method?

I do remember the AFUDOS version needed for this was an engineering version. I believe that it was AFUDOS 116b...hmmmm.

really though changing the rom ID in bios with amibcp should be enough IMO, my versions here won't open the rampage bios though.

Did you try the old "PAT Hack" AFUDOS? Boy that was a long time ago!!!

Asus uses customised AMI bios for most of their boards, so none of the AMI AFUDOS or AFUWIN programs will work.

thanks for the info Stilt , this is a great mod , about time we got some payback from Asus

when new rampage bios is released i guess we just flash in the usual way ? using easyflash

Yes, the new Rampage bios version will slip right in.
Unless Asus is really pissed off and they have not started to ship Rampage yet ;)
